We've Got It All Figured Out... For Now

What Else Could It Be?

“Oh, Mrs. Foust,” I heard Tanner’s sweet voice coo softly as he tried to wake me.

Even though it was a soft, sweet sound, I didn’t want to wake up. I knew what waking up meant… and I didn’t want to! But I slowly allowed my eyes to open… to be met with Tanner’s gorgeous blue ones.

“Even though I am not a morning person, I want to smile when I hear you say that,” I grinned while nuzzling my face into his chest.

“Mrs. Foust,” he beamed while leaving a kiss on my cheek. “Mrs. Foust,” he went on, kissing his way to my neck. “Mrs. Foust,” he continued until his lips met mine.

“I love you,” I sighed happily once we parted.

“I love you too, baby,” he replied through a smile before gently grasping my hand to bring it up to his lips to leave a soft kiss on my ring.

“But I have to go to work,” I groaned.

“Can’t you take today off?” he asked once I climbed out of bed.

“I take a day off all the time. I’m surprised I still have a job,” I giggled from the face that he was giving me before I locked myself into the bathroom.

So yeah… Tanner asked me to marry him after his drifting event in Vegas last weekend. I didn’t think he was serious. I mean we joked all the time about getting married in Vegas, but… I didn’t think we actually would… But we did! It wasn’t a cheesy thing though. Elvis didn’t marry us. It was a cute little ceremony… with only us two.

Our parents were slightly shocked, but still happy for us. I was happy too. A little skeptical about doing this whole marriage thing again, but Tanner’s been there a whole lot more than he was before. And since he was all for this, I couldn’t deny him.

After I was finished getting ready for work, I sat down with my boys and ate breakfast with them. Everything anyone did made me smile. It was just one of those days that I loved to smile. I haven’t had one of these in a long time. I actually considered staying home just to be with Tanner and the boys, but… I wanted to see my bestie today too.

When I walked past her office, she seemed busy, so I didn’t interrupt. I’d come back later. I wasn’t too sure how much attention she needed on her work, so I just went to my office and started my computer.

It was so hard for me to focus today. I just wanted to sit at my desk and smile like a huge goof ball. I should have been the secretary today. I would have kicked butt at it!

By the time lunch rolled around, I was still buzzing… and I haven’t even had Rockstar! How shocking? I nearly skipped down to Kirstie’s office to share my lunch break with her. Tanner said he was going to spend the day with the boys and wasn’t going to be able to make it for lunch, so he wasn’t going to be in. I haven’t really talked to Kirstie since Tanner and I told her we got married. I wasn’t too sure if Josh and her babies would be there, but… they weren’t. That’s… different.

“Hey,” I smiled as I walked in with a little bounce to my step.

“Hi,” she said with very little emotion in her voice… that’s not Kirstie!

“Everything ok?” I asked as I sat down in the chair that was in front of her desk.

“Fine,” she muttered, keeping her eyes low.

“Are you and Josh… ok?” I asked, thinking that may be the problem… I mean when’s the last time he didn’t come to spend lunch with her?

“Yeah, we’re fine,” she said with a little sigh in her voice.

“Are you sure?” I kept poking.

“Yeah… could you just… give me a few minutes?” she asked, having a hard time keeping her eyes on mine.

“Yeah, sure,” I told her, forcing a small through as I got up and walked back to my office to eat lunch.

After I ate, I went back to see if she was ok, but she wasn’t in her office. I let out a sigh before going back to mine to finish off my day. Before I left, I went to walk with her to our cars like we always do, but she had already left. I huffed to my car and drove home. I thought about calling her to make sure she was ok, but… maybe she just wants to be to herself.

“Mommy’s home!” I heard Tanner shout excitedly once I walked through the door.

“Mommy!” Mason and Jayden squealed as they came running over to me.

I picked up Jayden and left kisses all over his smooth little face before I bent down to give Mason his own kisses. After that was through, I put the little one down and they ran off, leaving Tanny all to me.

“How was your first day of work as Mrs. Foust?” he asked seductively before he pressed his lips against mine.

“Kirstie has been acting weird,” I told him once we parted.

“Weird how?” he asked before leading me over to the couch where he pulled me onto his lap.

“She barely said anything to me today… I think her and Josh are arguing… he wasn’t at lunch with her today. That boy is always with her whenever he gets the chance,” I grumbled.

“Are you sure? They seemed pretty fine the other night,” he had to question.

“What else could it be?” I asked, frustrated.

“Maybe she’s… just a little unsure about this eloping thing,” he spoke up softly.

“Psh, no,” I told him, making him eye me differently. “It can’t be. I mean… I hinted that it could happen,” I went on.

“But you didn’t tell her. She’s been your best friend for most of your life. You’re supposed to tell each other these things,” he countered.

“She’s not upset with me. It has to be the greaser,” I corrected him.

He just rolled his eyes through a bright smile.

“I don’t care about them right now… the kids are upstairs and you are looking gorgeous,” he went on, leaving soft kisses on my neck until he planted his lips on mine.

It’s hard to think of what Kirstie could be upset at when Tanner’s being all lovey. I hope she’s ok though. Not a lot of stuff upsets Kirstie too much. I want to call her to make sure she’s ok, but my hubby has other plans.
