Suddenly Yours

Waking up for Ellie the next day wasn’t quite what she would have imagined.
It all started with a phone ringing, she woke up with the sudden song and fell on the floor. Michael got up too and picked up the call, it was his phone.
Ellie stood up from the ground the first thing she did was look for a clock. She just took the first phone in front of her: 9:40 a.m.
“OH MY GOD!” Ellie yelled waking up Cameron, Nathan and Zach who were still sleeping on the couch. Cameron fell on the floor too and Nathan punched Zach in the face by accident
“Oh guys I’m sorry I yelled”
“No problem, what’s going on?”
“Well I’m an hour late for school, that’s what’s going on” Ellie said running around the bus as if that would help her
“Relax, we’ll drive you there”
“On the creepy van?”
“Well it’s not exactly a limo, but would you rather take the tour bus?” asked Cameron playing with her
“No, thank you so much. I’m just stressed out, thank you. Let’s go then?”
She was about the leave the bus when she noticed that the 3 boys were starring at her
“What?” she asked
“Well it’s just… you may need this sweetie” Nathan laughed while giving her a hair brush
“Oh my god, is it that bad?” she understood the hint, and laughed too
“Well you’re gorgeous anyways” Nathan started to compliment her
“Yeah yeah, point me to the bathroom” she was still laughing when Zach pointed to his left
She did the best with what she had, which wasn’t much, she just wanted to look nice or at least, acceptable. When she left the bathroom Nathan quickly complimented her again
“Beautiful! Ready for school?” he hold her hand and took her to the van
“Are you sure this is a good idea?” Ellie asked when she was already in the van with Nathan and Cameron
“Of course, why wouldn’t it be?” Cameron was smiling
“I just hope no one sees us coming”
“What if someone sees us coming?” asked Nathan
“I just don’t want to get you guys in any trouble” Ellie was blushing
“You need to stop all that worrying, it’s not like we’re Oprah Winfrey, you know. We can deal if someone recognizes us, but it’s most likely they won’t”
Ellie smiled
“We’re here”
They have arrived to the school and the yard was empty, everyone was in class
“Great, I’m so late. Thank you guys! Will I see you before you leave?”
“Maybe! We’ll call you!” yelled Nathan, because Ellie had already left the van
“Will you?” she laughed when she thought of the day before
“I promise” she heard Cameron say before entering the building where she was supposed to be having Math.
Ellie spent the day starring at her phone waiting for some kind of message letting her know when she’ll be with the boys, or if she was going to be with them at all. She really wanted to because they were leaving and god knows when they’ll meet again. The message finally came at lunch through a phone call.
“Nathan?” Ellie picked up the phone
“Actually it’s Cameron, I stole Nate’s phone. Where you at?”
“I’m in the cafeteria, I just finished lunch, and now I’m getting ready for the next class”
“Who are you with?” he asked
“Why you want to know?”
“Just curious”
“I’m alone, what did you think?”
“Oh sorry to ask”
Ellie took a deep breath and replied
“It’s okay, so where you at and who you with, Mr. Quiseng?”
“Well, I’m sitting here waiting for the rest of the guys.”
“When will you leave?”
“In a couple of hours or something”
“Oh, then I guess we won’t say goodbye”
“Who says?”
“Uh, common sense? I’ll be in class”
“Can’t you skip it?”
“No Cameron, of course not.”
“Ok then… when does the bell ring?”
“In less than an hour”
“I’ll come pick you up, now”
“Cameron, don’t. I don’t want to create anymore chaos”
“We’re not creating chaos, shut up. Just be ready. I’ll be there in 20 minutes”
“I won’t be here in time for class am I?”
Ellie heard him laugh on the other side of the phone
“Oh well, it’s not like it’s the first time I skip class. Just come already”
“See you in 20 minutes beauty”
He hang up the phone and Ellie found herself blushing because of what Cameron had just call her
“Beauty” he was such a sweetie, how is it possible he never had a girlfriend?
Finally Cameron came and she sat on the leather seat next to Cameron
“Hey again!” he said kissing her cheek “Ready to skip class?”
“Born ready!”
He laughed and started the van
No one had seen them, it’s not like people look at Ellie that often to even care where she was going or if she’s skipping class.
Ellie realized that they were not going to the same place as the night before
“Where are you taking us Cam?”
“Since when do you call me Cam?”
Ellie looked down feeling uncomfortable
“Hey” he said making her look at him, his eyes were especially green that day, also he was wearing a green shirt which only made them look even more bright.
“I like it when people call me Cam, plus only my friends call me that!”
“ohh I want to get you a nickname that only I know about”
“Shoot”
“I don’t know now… I need to think about it. It’s going to be the greatest nickname ever!”
Cameron looked at her smiling, and she felt goose bumps.
Once again she looked at his green eyes
“Green eyes” she whispered to herself
“What?” he asked confused
“You have green eyes”
“Well some people say they’re brown, others say they’re green”
“What do you say?” she asked
“What do you say?” he looked at her again
“Green, definitely green.”
He looked back to the road and no one said anything for a couple of seconds until Ellie yelled and broke the silence, making Cameron almost jump on his seat
“That’s it! I’m going to start calling you green eyes!”
“Oh”
“Oh?! What? You don’t like it?”
“It’s awesome but I thought you could come up with something better, plus that’s a bit girly isn’t it?”
“Oh shut up, my nicknames are awesome!”
“My nicknames are awesome!” Cameron repeated with a high voice trying to make it sound like Ellie’s
She punched him in the arm and then she turned on the radio. She loved being with him, it was so easy for her to smile and to make him smile.
