This Moment was Held for Me

Distraction

“Can we go back to yours?” I asked Frank after we drove around a little more. It was the afternoon and we had already stopped at park to play around. By this time, I was getting tired and wanted to just chill out with Frank.
“Sure,” Frank said as he held my hand whilst driving.
“You better be concentrating, Iero,” Gerard warned from the back seat, “Don’t hold her hand if it will distract you.”
“Am I a distraction?” I said innocently.
Frank grinned, “Nah.”
I wacked his shoulder, “Frank!”
He giggled, “Maybe a little bit.”
Gerard moaned and sprawled out onto the whole of the back seat, “Of course you are a fucking distraction, Mia. You’ve got your hand near Frank’s...lap.”
I turned around to wink at Gerard and he flipped me off.
“Is that distracting Frankie?” I said squeezing his thigh.
He jumped up slightly in his seat, “Mia!” he said.
I giggled and returned my hand back to my own lap, “I had no idea,” I said with the same innocent voice.
“Girls,” Gerard muttered.
I scoffed, “You’re as feminine as I am, Gerard!”
Gerard sat up suddenly and said, “I resent that!”
Frank giggled wildly which made me laugh because we all knew it was true.
“Fine,” I said fairly, “You’re only feminine sometimes.”
Gerard crossed his arms over his chest, “Rarely.”
Frank and I looked at each other with knowing smiles.
“Don’t share secret glances!” Gerard complained.
“Why not? We’re a couple!” I said.
“What?” Frank said slamming on the brakes.
“What?” I said confused.
“You just said we’re a couple.”
“What?” I repeated. Frank remained silent and looked back towards the road. “Did I?” I said in disbelief.
“Yes,” Frank said softly as he continued to drive up the road slowly.
“Oh.”
Frank finally cleared his throat and said, “Its fine. I know what you mean.”
“You’re still not a couple?” Gerard said questioningly.
“No,” Frank said, “Forget it, Gee.”
Gerard went to open his mouth in protest and confusion but Frank cut him off, “Gerard,” he said seriously, “Please.”
I sat there in silence nervously. I didn’t know what to say.
I put my hand back on Frank’s lap as a gesture of thanks and comfort.
He looked at me quickly before averting his eyes back to the road.
“You okay?” I muttered.
He smiled at me quickly, “Yeah, why?” Again, Frank pretended like nothing was wrong or nothing had been awkward. I smiled quickly too; it made me so pleased that Frank was so easy-going.
“Just checking,” I said. My voice was still soft because I was a little shocked.
Gerard cleared his throat, “Um guys? You can let me out here. I’d rather walk the rest of the way anyway.”
“You sure, man?” Frank said.
“Yeah,” Gerard said as he scratched the back of his neck, “You guys go, have fun.”
I sensed that Gerard understood what was going on and wanted to give us some alone time. Little did he know how understanding Frank was. We would be fine. Right?

“Home!” Frank said as he opened his bedroom door.
I looked around his room again. It really was a sanctuary pretty much dedicated to music.
“Driving is tiring,” Frank said as he sat on his bed and untied his laces.
“Aw baby,” I cooed at him playfully.
I sat on his lap and ran my hands through his hair. He grinned up at me.
“Trying to distract me, are you?” Frank said huskily.
I nodded silently.
“It’s working,” Frank said with a smirk.
“I can tell,” I said looking down into his lap.
“Mia!”
I giggled, “It’s true.”
“No fair.”
“What?”
“How do I tell with you?”
I looked at Frank seriously, “Excuse me?”
“Well how do I know if you want me?”
I giggled, “Jesus Frank, I don’t know.”
Frank smirked, “Well do you want me?”
Suddenly I was shy, “Yes,” I mumbled as I tucked a piece of hair behind my ear, “I often do.”
Frank giggled loudly, “Do you?! Really?”
I shoved his shoulder softly, “Shut up.”
“Wow,” he breathed out with a smile still on his lips.
“I have hormones too!” I said defensively.
He giggled, “Are they affecting you at the moment?”
“Frank!” I said as I hit his shoulder again.
“Oh c’mon!” he giggled.
“Shut up,” I mumbled as I started playing with his hair.
“I’ll take that as a yes?” he said looking into my eyes with a smirk.
I didn’t say a word. I just continued to run my fingers through his dark hair. My hands traced his jaw line softly. He closed his eyes with a smile. My fingers eventually ran over his soft lips. His eyes opened again when I lightly pressed my lips to his.
“Take it as a ‘hell yes’” I finally said.
