Luck Loves Me Not Tonight.

Break out, break out,

A few days had passed since Jack and Sky’s little talk. And, they were getting closer. Slowly but surly, Jack Barakat and Sky Simmons were becoming good friends.

“Sky, you okay?” Cassidy asked as she pulled her best friend from her thoughts. Sky shook her head softly as she stared down at her bracelets. It was a hot day out so Sky had to dress down more than usual. She hated her figure incredibly and having her legs out made her more uncomfortable than usual.

“I hate my body.. But if I’d have worn skinny jeans today, I’d have melted to death.” Sky said and Cassidy sighed softly at her best friend as she wrapped an arm around her shoulder.

“Girl, your legs are fit, stop fussing.” Cassidy said with a smile as Sky faked a half smile.

“Okay Cass.” She said before her best friend went back to talking to Alex. Sky moved slightly so she was stood beside Jack and he smiled down softly at her.

“You think their actually gonna get together? Or just flirt constantly.” Jack said with a chuckle and Sky giggled along as she looked over at their best friends.

“I think they will.. Eventually. Cass is really into him.” Sky said with a small shrug as she looked down at her heeled feet, Kicking at some stones softly as she spoke.

“He likes her too.. I’ve never seen him so into a girl.” Jack said with a small nod as both of them looked over at the pair with confused glances. Sky and Jack looked between themselves before putting on their cheesiest grins. Alex and Cassidy rolled their eyes before going back to talking.

“Jack..?” Sky asked softly as she sat on one of the railings out side of their school building, Her heels clinking against the metal as she jumped up.

“Yeah Sky?” He asked as she bit her lip softly, Hanging her head as his eyes continued to stare at hers.

“Why do our families hate each other?” Sky asked and he shrugged softly as he crossed over his arms before leaning forward onto the bar.

“I’ve never.. Actually been told.. My Dad’s just always said that he hated him with all his guts.. Then he told me about you.. He said I couldn’t talk to you because you’d be just like him. Obviously your not.” Jack said with a soft smile as Sky chuckled deeply.

“I will never be like him.. The man makes me sick.” Sky said and Jack turned to her, His eyes filled with confusion at her words. But, just as he was going to ask her what she meant, the bell rang. Jack grabbed Sky’s waist as he helped her down from the bar and she thanked him softly with a warm smile before grabbing his hand and dragging him towards their chemistry class room. Once they were inside, they sat down at their assigned seats and got out their work.

“What did you mean by what you said outside?” Jack asked quietly once class had started and Sky sighed softly as she chewed on the end of her pen.

“I just meant.. I’m not like my father.. At all.. He’s a complete and utter dick. I don’t blame your dad for hating him. I hate him myself. I am genuinely disappointed to call that bastard my Father.” Sky said, A certain coldness to her tone that Jack had never heard before. It was one of pure disgust. He expected to hear it sometime but definitely didn’t expect her to use it about her father.

“Wow.. You really think low of him.” Jack said with a soft sigh as he looked over at the still badly bruised girl. His eyes showed sympathy as he looked over the purple/brown markings.

“Did-.. Did he do that to you, Sky?” He asked and Sky sighed softly before turning her face towards him.

“I’ll be leaving that god forsaken place soon enough.” She said, completely ignoring his question as she stared down at the blank page in front of her.

“He did do this to you.. Didn’t he?” He said again as Sky just stared down at her hands as she twiddled with her fingers.

“Just.. Don’t tell anyone Jack.” She said with a loud sigh as she put her head in her hands. It shocked her when Jack tugged at her hands, Letting them fall loosely around her again before engulfing her in a hug. She hesitated at first, Until she gave in and wrapped her arms around his lanky frame. She didn’t like to admit it, but it felt amazing getting a hug from someone other than Cassie. Or maybe she just enjoyed getting a hug from Jack.. But she quickly pushed that thought from her head. He let go of Sky soon after and she blushed slightly. “What was that for?” Sky asked the lanky boy as he got up to get their equipment for the days lesson.

“Well, I thought we were good enough friends. I wanted to give you a hug. Is it illegal?” He asked with a soft chuckle and Sky shook her head softly as she pulled her hair up into a ponytail. She grabbed the glass beakers from his hands and placed them in a holder.

“It’s nice.. You know.. Having a friend other than Cass.” Sky said making the boy grin childishly.

“Well.. It’s good having a friend other than Alex. He gets a angry at my childish behaviour.” He said with a shrug as he watched the redhead pour some sort of Acid into the glass beakers.

“I’ll never get bored of your childishness Jacky. It’s adorable.” Sky said with a slight smile as the tall boy blushed deeply as he flicked some water at her.

Once Chemistry was over, the pair made their way slowly to art.

“I hate this lesson.” Jack whined and Sky nodded softly in agreement as she looked down and played with her bracelets. “Wanna skip?” He asked with a smirk and Sky smiled back softly as she latched onto his hand, dragging him out of the school doors and up to the tree where they’d been a few days earlier. “This should be our place.” Jack said with a soft smile as he sat down on the hard ground and Sky giggled softly, sitting down beside him.

“It should be. This is that place where I realised you were an amazing guy.” Sky said as she bobbed her head slightly. He chuckled softly at her as he pulled up pieces of the green grass.

“I’ve always been a nice guy. You’ve just never given me the chance. This is the first time we've talked since the start of high school.” He said with a sigh and Sky groaned as she remembered their first encounter.

*Flashback*

First Day Of High School

The tall boy sighed as he wondered around the giant school. Where the hell was he? He wondered around some more before slumping against the lockers. He stared straight ahead for a while before letting his eyes fall on the small red haired girl not far from him, Giggling and chatting with another brown haired girl. One thing Jack could admit, he thought she was beautiful. Her eyes landed on his for a moment and Jack practically melted at her gaze. She started walking towards him and he smiled up at her as she stood only a few feet from his hunched over frame.

“You lost?” The girl asked and Jack stood up on his feet, dusting himself off ad he did so.

“Yeah. Very. I can’t get the hang of this place. It‘s too big!” Jack said with a soft smile as the small girl lent against the lockers.

“You‘ll be okay. I‘ve been here half a day and I‘ve got the hang of it already.” The girl said with a soft giggle and Jack smiled softly over at her, Her blue eyes shining slightly.

“Well, I’m Jack Barakat.” Jack said extending out a hand and the girls eyes widened as she stood up straight again.

“Oh..I don’t think.. I should be talking to you..” She said and Jack furrowed his brows at the girl.

“And why might that be?” He asked and the girl hung her head low.

“I’m Sky Simmons and Jack Barakat, Don’t expect us to speak ever again.. Your bad news.” She said sadly and walked away, Leaving Jack stood dumbfounded.

*End Of Flashback*

“Yeah.. And that wasn’t exactly the best meeting ever.” Sky said with a giggle as Jack lent back against the tree. Staring up at the green leaves as a sigh escaped his lips. “What you thinking about?” Sky asked Jack as she too lent onto the tree and looked over at him.

“Just.. How we could have been friends earlier.. You know, I liked you back then.” Jack said with a deep chuckle and Sky looked over at him in amusement.

“Oh god,” She said with a giggle as e chuckled along. “When I first saw you I thought you were kinda.. Fit.” She admitted and Jack laughed softly as he snuck a sly wink.

“We’d have made an amazing couple.” Jack said with a nervous chuckle that Sky couldn’t help but catch, but she shrugged it off as nothing. She smiled softly at him before yawning slightly. She shifted her position so her head was resting in his lap and he hesitantly put a hand to her hair, Stroking the red locks softly. And he couldn’t help but admit.. It felt oddly right.
