Make Me Better

Chapter 5

"No! Julia..Don't believe him he killed Maria." Frank shouted at the TV. He was watching some soap opera in Spanish. I let out a fake loud cough. Frank changed the channel quickly. I smiled to myself as I made my way to the couch. I sat down next to him slowly.

"What were you watching?" I asked.
"Nothing! Who let you in?" He asked.
"Your mom." I laughed.

"Mom! Why did you let Oli in?" He asked.
"Did you want me to tell her to leave?" She asked. Frank shook his head.
"I thought so." His mom turned back into the kitchen.
"So, Why shouldn't Julia believe..." I said.
"Juan Carlos. He killed her sister. He loves Julia, Julia loves his brother Manuel." Frank explained going back to the channel.
I laughed.
"Why are you here?" He asked really intrigued in the show.
"Everyone ditched me. Lynz and Gerard want to be alone. Mikey has a project Bob and Ray went off to god knows where. " I explained.
"What am I? Your last resort?" He asked.
"Yeah." I said.
"Fine..Let me see what happens next week." Frank shushed me.
"Where do you want to go?" He asked once we left his house.
I shrugged.
"Ugh!" Frank whined.
"Don't be such a baby...You know you love spending time with your best friend." I smiled.
"Best friend?" He scoffed. I gasped.
"I'm kidding!" Frank said quickly.
"You better." I said while glaring at him.
" You know, We're really boring people." Frank announced while we were driving around town.
"Let's go to Babies R' Us." Frank stopped the car.
"You do know that there is a difference in Toys R' Us and Babies R' us, right?" I asked while giving him a look. At first I thought he was kidding. Who wants to go to Babies R' Us?
"Are you coming or what?" He asked while getting out the car. I fumbled with my seat belt before jogging over to Frank.

"What baby would wear this?" Frank inspected a fluffy pink dress.
"I dunno...a girl." I suggested.
"I know! But it looks crazy." Frank laughed as he hung the dress back onto the rack of baby clothes. I looked around. We were definitely fish out of water. There were couples everywhere.
"Aw! Look at these shoes." I said while I held up the tiniest shoes ever. I guess Frank was entertained because he kept showing me clothes that he 'thought' were weird.

I looked to my left to see the cashier staring at us. I furrowed my eyebrows. She seemed to be in her mid-fifties. She looked over at Frank who was showing me green pants.

"Frank! They think I'm pregnant." I huffed. Frank looked around and laughed.
"Aw, is baby Oli having fun?" He extended his arm to rub my tummy. I slapped his hand away quickly.
"Its not funny. They probably think your the dad." I smiled. He stopped laughing and glared at me.
"I want this!" Frank said to a small black and grey beanie.
"Are you sure it'll fit? It is for a baby, you know." I said while snatching the beanie out of his hands. He grabbed it and put it on his head.
"It fits! Let's go!" He smiled and grabbed onto my hand. I rolled my eyes. he was doing this on purpose. We walked up to the cash register, hand in hand. The cashier gave us a weird look.

Frank giggled, "How are you?"
The lady looked up at us. "I'm fine, how are you?" I nudged Frank's side.
"We're dandy! Just buying the bundle of joy a present." Frank flashed her a smile. She nodded without looking at us.
"Well, good luck with everything." She emphasized the 'everything'. Frank thanked her before leading me out the store.

"That was not fun." I said once we got out of there.
"Aw, come on! It was funny." He laughed.
"No! Ewe!" I squirmed.
"Now what?" I asked. Frank shrugged as he started the car and pulled out the parking lot.
"We are boring." I agreed after long moments of silence.
"Oh! Let's go there!" Frank cheered.
We went to the park.
"Hurry! I want a Popsicle!" Frank ran away from me as he went to towards the ice cream truck. Once he reached it he proceeded to cut little kids in line.
"Frank!" I said shaking my head. He turned to give me a questioning look. Once he got his ice cream, he walked over to me happily.
"Wanna go on the swings?" I asked. Frank nodded. I looked towards the swing set. There was only one that was unoccupied. Frank and I exchanged looks. I bolted towards the swing but Frank still managed to beat me.
"Push me." He pleaded with a huge smile.

I grabbed the swings chains and pulled back.
"Higher!" Frank laughed.
"Higher!" Frank said again.
"Frankie, I can't push you that far, You'll fall off ." I laughed.
Frank finally got tired of the swing and let me sit down. I asked Frank to push me.
"Ugh, you're so heavy, Oli." Frank grunted. I rolled my eyes.
"Can you guys get off the swings already?" A little kid asked. Frank glared.
"You can have the swing. We'll just go to the slide." Frank pulled me up. He was acting like a child. I gave the kid a sweet smile before walking off with Frank.
"Frank, let's go to some other place. The little kids are getting annoyed at us." I pulled Frank off the slide.
"Fine." He smiled.
"Give me a piggyback ride." I said. I jumped on his back and Frank ran around. People turned to look at us. I was having a laughing fit while Frank made horse noises.
Frank let me forget all my troubles. I didn't think about mom...Not once.
"Let's get you home." Frank smiled. I frowned. Guess I had to come back with reality sometime.
