The Devil's Pawn

Ch. 10

I awoke to the sound of light snoring. Prying my tired eyes open, I came face to face with Trenton’s neck. I pulled back, shocked at our close proximity.

I sat upright in bed, breathing in deeply.

The sun seeped in from the window, lighting up the room. His messy room was filled
with silence, save for the soft snores next to me.

I ran a hand through my curls, glancing down at the figure next to me. Trenton lay on his
stomach, his arm hidden underneath his pillow. His face was turned towards me. The arm
that did show was bent at an angle, the fingertips pointing to where I had just been laying.

He seemed oblivious to the world around him.

I took a deep breath, running my hands through my hair again. I glanced down to what I
was wearing. I sat cross-legged, the white shirt draping in front of my crotch. I pulled my hair
to the side and pushed the blanket off of my bare legs.

Cool air hit them sharply, raising goose bumps. I wrapped my arms around my waist,
sliding them over the side.

I wasn’t sure what to do. Should I go home now or should I stay?

I didn’t have anything to go home in, but if I planned it right, my parents didn’t have to
see me walk in. Of course there would always be the fear that they would catch me and
demand to know why I wasn’t wearing my clothes.

I could always borrow some of Trenton’s and walk home in that instead of what Erica
had so forcefully leant me.

I stood up quietly with hopes not to wake Trenton. I straightened, standing before my
side of the bed. I crossed my arms around my waist nervously.

Trenton grunted, tensing his body. “Why is it cold?”

I bit my lip. Without realizing, I had dragged the covers halfway off of his body when I got
out from under them. Almost his entire bare back was exposed to the cool air in his room.

“Sorry, Trenton.” I said softly.

He groaned, opening his eyes. “Why are you here? Turn down the damned lights.”

“I can’t turn off the sun.” I leaned on one hip “And you really didn’t give me a choice when
you dragged me here.”

“Quite down.” He said, rolling himself onto his back. Trenton moved into the space I had
occupied previously, covering his eyes with his hands.

“How much did you drink last night, Trenton?” I asked.

“I don’t know.”

“Aren’t you just a ball of sunshine?” I mumbled sarcastically.

“I’m not in the mood, Taylor.”

“Neither am I. But hey, I had to wake up in my neighbors house, in his clothes, in his
bed, all against my will.”

Trenton smirked, eyes still covered, “You chose to wear my clothes. I’d have been fine if
you didn’t want to wear anything.”

I scrunched up my face in disgust.

He pulled his hands back hesitantly, blinking his eyes open. “It’s so damned bright!
Close the blinds or something!”

I sighed, walking over and pulling the blinds down. The room darkened drastically,
much to my discontent.

“Thanks, Sweet Cheeks.” He grinned at me.

I rolled my eyes, not bothering today.

Trenton forced himself up, hanging his legs off the side of the bed. He rested his
forearms on his thighs, looking up at me. “Hungry?”

“A little bit.” I admitted quitely. “Do you have a tooth brush I could borrow?”

He smirked, “Yeah come on. I need to get the taste of shit out of my mouth anyways.”

Trenton stood up, leading the way out of his bedroom slowly. I followed behind him with
my arms still hugging my waist tightly. He walked into the bathroom, reaching into the
cabinet on the wall and pulling out a tooth brush still in the wrapping.

Trenton handed it to me with a smirk. I smiled gently, accepting it gladly.

“Tooth paste?” I asked, popping the brush out of the plastic.

Trenton grabbed the tooth paste off the counter, twisting the cap off. He squeezed some
on the top of my brush.

“Thanks.” I said before I began to brush my teeth.

He rolled his eyes before doing the same.

It was strange brushing my teeth at the same time Trenton was. He braced himself
against the counter of the sink with one hand, looking down. I kept one arm around my waist,
eyes on him.

He bumped me with his hip.

I bumped him back.

Trenton turned the water on, spitting out his tooth paste. I made a face, following after
him.

“You spit?” He smirked, wiping his mouth with the back of his hand.

I felt my face heat up, “Shut up.”

Trenton laughed, “I’m only wondering for in the future.”

“Shut up!” I hissed, “That’s never going to happen!”

“Never say never.” He leaned against the side of the counter, crossing his arms over his
chest. I turned around to leave.

Trenton caught the end of his shirt, dragging me back to him. “Don’t leave so soon.”

I turned back to face him, pulling the end of his shirt down. “If you drop this topic then I
won’t leave.”

He chuckled. “I like my shirt on you.”

I blushed, “It’s a little big…”

“Maybe I should reiterate.”

“Oh, big word.” I teased.

He narrowed his eyes, “Watch it.”

I held my hands up innocently.

“I like your legs when you wear my shirt.”

I tugged on the end more.

Trenton laughed, “Stop doing that.”

“Trenton, how am I going to go home?”

“Walk? I don’t really care…”

“No I mean,” I bit my lip for a moment. “I can’t really walk home in this and my other
choice are the clothes Erica loaned me. My parents would definitely not like to see me
coming home in such provocative outfits.”

“Forget them. I like this style on you.” He said, leaning closer. I took a cautious step
back, holding his eyes.

“Be serious for a moment.”

“I am.” He took another step closer.

I backed up, “I’m going to be in so much trouble.”

“For a moment, forget what they think. You’re supposed to be at a friend’s. Make up an
excuse that your clothes got destroyed or something.” He urged, stepping in front of me. I
turned to face him. The edge of the counter dug into my lower back.

“And come back in just a t-shirt?”

“They need to let go of their grip on your life”

“But for now I need to be the good girl.”

“Everyone’s got their rebel years.” He teased, moving in closer. I leaned back slightly,
the smell of mint from the tooth paste hitting my nose. Thank God we had just brushed.
Morning breath would be highly disgusting at this moment.

“I’ve had mine!” I argued defensively.

“What? Did you get a B or something on a couple tests?” He laughed.

I blushed furiously, looking away.

“Damn, Sweet Cheeks, I was only kidding. Is that really what you call rebellious?”

“I’ve had worse!”

“Name them.”

“One time I went to the mall and paid with my emergency credit card for a pair of sun
glasses.” I smirked proudly.

Trenton snorted causing my smug to evaporate. “You’re so innocent.”

“Excuse me for wanting to be a good citizen!”

Trenton rested a hand on either side of my hips, leaning in closely. “Have you ever been
kissed before?”

“Yes.” I frowned.

“By a boy?” He corrected.

“No…” I said, biting my lip gently.

“Really?” He raised an eyebrow.

“That is not your cue to kiss me.” I said, leaning my head back.

Trenton chuckled, “Are you sure about that?”

“Yes.”

Trenton moved his hands to my hips, taking a step in between my legs. I felt my heart
skip a beat nervously.

“We should leave.”

“We’re just getting started.”

“I said don’t kiss me.”

“I’m not going to.”

“Then what are you…?”

Trenton moved his hands down my legs, sliding them up slowly. My eyes widened in
surprise as he slipped under my shirt. Trenton moved his hands up, dragging the shirt with
him.

I grabbed his wrists, letting him know I didn’t want him to do that.

“Relax.” He whispered, his lips near my ear.

“Don’t…”

“Kiss you, I know.” He smirked. He hooked his fingers around the edge of my panties,
pulling the sides out slightly. I felt my face flush. Trenton inched them down ever so slightly.

“Stop,” I hissed, holding his wrists there.

He smirked, releasing his hold on my panties. He rested his hands on my waist, the
shirt revealing far too much for my liking.

Trenton pulled back, holding my eyes. I took a deep breath, trying to steady myself. I had
a death grip around his wrists still, not wanting them to move.

He gave me a crooked smile, his eyes flickering down. “I like the purple. But I think
blue’s more of your color.”

“Don’t look there!”

“I can’t kiss you and I can’t look at you? You’re so demanding.” He teased.

I bit my lip, looking away.

Trenton wrapped an arm around my waist, pulling my body against his closer.

As if we weren’t close enough as it was.

“Hello, there.” He smirked, his face only a few inches from mine. I was forced to look up
if I wanted to see his eyes. I braced one of my hands against his chest, trying to create some
space between us.

It was intimidating to be this close to someone like him. Trenton was fairly attractive and
being in nothing but boxers didn’t help our situation either. His skin was warm against my
body, even though the fabric of his shirt.

I was mildly embarrassed to be this close to someone as attractive as Trenton. I knew I
wasn’t the prettiest in the morning, but for whatever reason that didn’t seem to bug him.

Yet, in the back of my mind, Sam’s face poked through.

She would hate to see me like this with someone else.

But she did it all the time to me… Why couldn’t I?

It was fair.

If she could have a little fun with the opposite sex, then why would it be such a big deal if
I did too?

I blinked, realizing what I had just thought. I couldn’t be enjoying this feeling of
intimidation Trenton was giving me. He was the same guy who had dragged me against my
will to some party where all anyone did was illegally drink alcohol.

“Tay?” He asked.

“That’s not my name.”

“I know.” He said with a devilish smirk.

“You’re unbelievable.”

Trenton laughed gently, leaning in closer.

“Trenton…” I said cautiously

“Relax.”

The distance was amazingly small. I felt my breathing hitch in surprise. I couldn’t lean
back anymore than I already was.

Trenton smirked at me.

He leaned forward.

Our lips were mere centimeters apart.

I was breathing in and out quickly, my lips parted slightly.

Our bodies were pressed tightly against each other.

“Trenton…”

He pressed his lips against mine. His lips were soft against my own, moving gently with
me. I felt my eyelids fall close as I kissed back. My grip on his wrist loosened, sliding up his
arm. I leaned forward, deepening the kiss.

It was incredibly different from kissing Sam.

Trenton took dominance instantly, nipping at my bottom lip for entrance. I smirked
gently, holding back. He grunted, pushing me against the edge of the counter roughly. I
gasped sharply. His tongue moved with mine.

I raked my fingers down his front feeling my knees weakening. Trenton smirked in the
kiss, tightening his grip on my body. I was feeling weak-headed.

I pulled away, opening my eyes.

Trenton kept us close together as we swallowed the air like it was going out of style.

“You broke your promise.”

“Promises are meant to be broken, Sweet Cheeks.”
