Secret Valentine

Mandy's Got A Secret

"JAMES! JAMES! JAMES!" Jack threw his arms in the air, and jumped up and down. There they were, my new friends, and Alex. Alex happened to be standing next to his best friend, and giving him a annoyed stare.

"What’s up Barakat?" I giggled as I headed into the circle formed near our lockers.

"I MISSED MY BESTEST FRIEND!" Jack wrapped me up in his arms, causing my feet to come off of the ground.

"I missed you too, Jackie-poo!" I stated, just as excited.

Jack smiled with satisfaction, and he sat me down.

"We still on for later tonight?"

I nodded, already eager to make Alex jealous.

"For sure! Where we going again?"

"Ooh just this cute little restaurant on Thames Street." He replied cheekily.

"Sounds great. I really can’t wait." I giggled.

At least I know I could be an actress. I was rockin this shit.

"Me either." Jack pulled me tightly into his side, placing a kiss on my forehead.

I forced another giggle.

"PDA is frowned apon, Jackie."

"I don’t care." He shrugged.

"Maybe you don’t." I laughed. "I have to go to class. Walk me?"

"Of course." Jack chuckled, and let his arm fall beside mine. His hand lightly brushed mine, and I easily linked my fingers with his.

"Bye guys." I called, and started to pull Jack along with me.

As soon as we were out of sight, Jack and I pulled our hands apart as fast as possible. We looked at each other, and then we started to crack up laughing.

"Did you see his face?!" Jack laughed. "That was classic."

I shook my head, still giggling.

"No."

"How could you NOT see his death glare?!" He stated like it was the most obvious thing in the world. "I swore he was going to tackle me."

"If he did, I would have beat the hell out of him." I slowly stopped laughing. "But thanks Jack."

He shrugged.

"No problem. I get bored a lot so this gives me something to actually do with my time."

I rolled my eyes.

"Sure it does. See you at lunch right?"

"Sure thang, girlfriend."

I laughed as Jack tried the whole ‘oh no you didn’t’ snap and head roll thing.

"Jack Bassam Barakat, never fucking do that again. Got me?"

He pouted.

"Yeah, sure."

"Bye, boyfriend."

"Buh bye!" He waved and left me standing there shaking my head.

This was going to get interesting.

"What is going on with you and Jack?" Mandy asked me seriously. We were sitting in my living room with Lexi.

"Nothing." I shrugged. "Why do you care?"

Mandy shrugged in return.

"I don’t...."

"And I didn’t get knocked up Freshman year." I rolled my eyes. I looked at Lexi, whom was way into the Disney episode that she was watching to care.

"So...what is going on?" She pressed even further.

"Jack and I are dating."

"You are?!"

"Why do you even care, Mandy?" I stressed again.

Mandy’s cheeks heated up.

"You can’t tell anyone. I swear if you do, I’ll hurt you."

I laughed.

"Calm down. I’m not going to tell anyone."

"You’ve got to promise not to freak."

"Okay?"

"Okay. We’ll...I sort of might have a thing for Jack."

"WHAT?!"

"I told you not to freak out!"

"I’m sorry!" I stated "Since when?"

"Since like forever."

I gasped.

"What about Zack?! He’s your boyfriend, isn’t he?!"

"Yeah...about that..."

"Oh dang." I stated. "You might as well tell me now before I start to freak out on your butt." I was careful not to use language around my daughter.

"Zack and I aren’t really dating..."

"What do you mean ‘not really dating’?"

"Um...we’ve been faking it for like a month. We’re just best friends."

"Are you sure that Zack feels that way?"

Mandy nodded.

"He has a girlfriend."

"Gees, another one?!"

"Yeah, and she knows about this whole situation. Her idea actually."

"Um...wow."

"I know, it’s weird." She groaned. "You can’t tell me that you’ve honestly never thought about the idea right?"

"I have." I mused. "Jack’s actually my pretend boyfriend."

Her face lite up.

"So you aren’t dating?!"

"Nope." I shrugged. "He actually likes you."

A smile spread across her face.

"YAY!" She stated as she got up to do a happy dance.

Lexi looked over at Mandy and started to giggle.

Mandy stopped apon hearing Lexi laughed, and looked down at her.

"Hey cutie. What’s up?"

"Nothing." She stated.

She had the same attitude as Alex did.

I rolled my eyes.

"Alrighty baby. It’s time for you to go to bed now."

"But momma." She whined. "I don’t want too. I want daddy."

"Daddy’s being a meanie right now. We’ll have to wait until tomorrow for you to see him."

"But..." She pouted. "Please?"

"Lexi. No." I stated sternly. "No let’s get you to bed."

"Fine." She mumbled.

I rolled my eyes yet again.

"She is definitely Alex’s daughter." Mandy laughed. "I’ll see you tomorrow?"

"Sure. See you then."

"Bye, Alyson."

I laughed.

"Bye."

"Bye Mandy!" Lexi stated.

"Bye, Lexi." Mandy laughed at her, and then she walked out of my front door.

I slowly climbed the stairs and I put her to bed.

Damn, my world just got a little more confusing.

And I thought having a kid was hard.
