Keep It True.

I sat in the van with my headphones plugged in trying to drown out the noise around me to no avail; I could still hear the loud music blaring and screaming boys, but this was how it always was. I looked up from my book to see all the guys dancing obnoxiously to Mortal Kombat and I smiled shaking my head. I looked down and saw Ava sleeping silently with her own headphones plugged in, hugging her pillow soundly. I had no idea how she could sleep through all this ruckus, my guess was she had a late night last night.

"Oh shit! Shit! Shit!" John called out in a legitimate panic, the music stopping abruptly so you could tell this was serious. My eyes grew wide and I pulled out one of my headphones out of curiosity. I couldn't help but grow worried as Jared's face paled in panic as well.

"Dude, we're in the middle of fucking no where, shit!" Jared called out before turning to talk to the rest of us. "We were jamming too hard," he laughed, still nervous, but clearly trying to laugh it off.

"What happened?" I asked to anyone who was really listening all the boys seemed to be up to speed. I looked around, if there was a flat tire it'd be screaming from underneath us, but we were indeed in the middle of nowhere that was a problem.

"We're out of gas," Jared answered, looking around until laughing at Tim who was filming this whole thing, making sure to capture Ava still sleeping during the outrageously loud music. "To make things better, we seem to be in the middle of no where, far from civilization and gas stations, yay!" He added on sarcastically and I couldn't help, but chuckle.

"Wait a minute, wait a minute! What's that?!" John asked excitedly, pointing ahead and all the guys peered over the to see a Shell stations up ahead. Even though we could see it, it was still pretty far away and I didn't know if we had enough gas to even make it there.

"Dude try kicking it in neutral," Tim suggested after stowing away the camera, he leaned forward on the bench that Ava and I were on. Throughout all fo this she hadn't even stirred, I was kind of worried she might be dead until seeing the rising and sinking of her chest. I just hoped she never fell asleep during any emergencies, because none of it would wake her.

"Oh! YES!" John called out as we started rolling down the hill, people started joining in as we got closer and closer to the pump. Then we stopped rolling about fifteen feet away from the gas pump. "Ah, fuck, we were so fucking close," he laughed leaning back in his chair in defeat.

"Alright, everyone out, we gotta push!" Tim called out before nodding towards John, "are you gonna steer?" He opened the sliding door before John let out a small 'yeah' and we all climbed out. I groaned as I tried my best to avoid Ava as she muttered in her sleep and buried her face into her pillow.

"Ava, hon. Could you get out and help push?" John asked as the last of us were making our way out. He spoke in a hesitant and sounding like he almost didn't want her to wake up.

"Dude, she slept through Mortal Kombat, she's not getting up for jack shit," Jared laughed, all of us looking at Ava who was still curled up in the seat, John looked at her with a slightly guilty look on his face and I wondered why. We waited for Pat to get out, who had been sleeping until Mortal Kombat started and wasn't too happy about it.

"Just shake her, she'll wake up if you shake her," Pat added bitterly, rubbing his eyes still clearly tired. I had noticed Pat was kind of like a little kid, when he got hungry or tired he got crazy.

"Don't do it, if you wake her up then I have to deal with the consequences," John called out after somehow hearing Pat's mutter, John had a dead serious look in his eyes and I laughed. He truly was whipped and once it was decided that we shouldn't wake up Ava we congregated to the back of the trailer, formulating a game plan.

We all groaned as we pushed the trailer forward. It seemed to weigh ten tons, all of us putting our weight into it. I tried to adjust my hands and get comfortably as I locked my elbows and kept walking, laughing at everyone's complaints. Even with all our efforts it took a good ten minutes to push it to where the hose would reach.

"Yes! We are amazing!" Garrett called out in laughter, flexing his muscles with Tim, all of them doing their best muscle-head figure as John got out of the car, shoulders hunched over knowing he didn't do anything. I just chuckled as they continued to make idiots of themselves, but it really was hilarious.

"Why is everyone out of the car?" Ava moaned wiping some sleep from her eye, noting the guys standing around fatigued and John now pumping gas into the van. We all high-fived with our now dirt coated hands amazed that we had managed to push damned thing up here. We all looked up at her wondering what could've possibly woken her up after everything that had just happened.

"So I've had to pee since like twenty miles ago," Pat laughed ignoring her and took off racing for the station, shortly after that we all realized we had to pee and followed suit.

"Liv! Wait for me!" Ava called out, pulling on her flats that she'd taken off to sleep. After both her shoes were on she chased after us, and I waited at the glass door holding it open for her. I saw my black hands from the dirt on the trailer, I had never done that before, ever. I couldn't help but feel a sense of pride.

"Ew, what happened to your hands?" Ava peered over at my hands as she checked her reflection in the mirror wiping away her fallen makeup after both of us had used the restroom and washed our hands. I was still washing my hands, since the dirt had been coated on thicker than I thought.

"Well, while you were sleeping, little miss princess, we ran out of gas and had to push the van and trailer up to the gas pump," I explained, as I dried off my hands satisfied that my hands were finally clean again.

"Oh, that's what that noise was," She smirked and my eyes widened as I figured it all out. No one could possibly sleep through all of that and she laughed at my shock. "Please Liv, I pretend to be asleep all the time, like whenever Dad would check to see if we were sleeping. I'm also an expert at hiding boys in miscellaneous spots in my room," She winked and I couldn't help but laugh. That was actually impressive, I had known her for eighteen years and even I couldn't tell she was faking it.

"You are insane, you know that right?" I chuckled as we exited the restrooms and weaved through the aisles of the gas station looking for some snacks. As I grabbed a bag of Cheez-its and a vitamin water a question popped into my mind, "how many guys did you have over while I was sleeping next door?" I narrowed my eyes suspiciously.

"Honey, you don't wanna know," She winked at me, giving my arm a quick squeeze after paying for her Chex Mix and water bottle and walked out, with a literal skip in her step as she jumped into her boyfriend's arms and I chuckled quickly paying for my things.

"Well that was fun, didn't I tell you this would be a great adventure?" Garrett laughed sarcastically wiping his hands on his skinny jeans, I saw he had his own vitamin water and we both walked out into the parking lot. I didn't remember him saying anything like that, but I still let out a giggle and couldn't really care.

"Yeah, well that's enough adventure for one day, don't you think?" I asked sarcastically with a huge smile. Apparently it wasn't because the boys demanded we had to stop to see the world's biggest ball of yarn.

"Okay, ready, one, two, three, threesome?" John called out holding out Ava's pink camera as we took a picture with an angle so it looked like we were holding up the giant ball in our hands. We held our smiles until the picture was taken and then both rolled our eyes, Ava slapping John lightly before we looked at the picture. Then I realized, Ava and I didn't have any pictures together aside from Christmas cards and family portraits. This was our first picture with our own special memories behind it, an inside jokes of sorts and I loved it.
