Carpe Diem

Twenty One.

“So, kiddos! It’s question and answer time!” Nick exclaimed as he jumped up and began clapping as the three rows of fans began laughing.

Alex, Logan, Jake and I were currently sat in the corner of A Rocket To The Moon’s tent, waiting for their “question and answer” session to begin. Hayden was off looking after Collin, it was a shame he was ill and she wasn’t there to see it as I know for a fact she would’ve loved it.

“Hit me with your questions!” Justin laughed as Nick hit him across the head before sitting back down.

“I’d rather hit you with my hand.” He scoffed as Justin flipped him off.

“What’s your favourite song you’ve wrote?” A girl sat in the front row asked.

“That’s a difficult one.” Nick chuckled. “Probably If Only They Knew, off our EP.”

“Justin is it true you like to pole dance in your spare time? I’ve heard stories.” Someone else shouted out as I burst out laughing.

“I do not like to pole dance! Maybe I would if I had the legs for it.” He grinned.

“Eric! What’s your favorite band?” A guy in the second row asked as Eric contemplated.

“I’m not even just saying this because we’re on tour with them, but Hit The Lights are my favorite band.” He laughed.

“Is it true that this is the last festival you’re ever going to play?!” A girl exclaimed as her friends gasped.

“Tell me it’s not true!” One of them shouted straight after.

“It’s not true, I’m sure we’ll be touring again this year, we’re not going anywhere just yet” Andrew smiled as the girls began clapping.

“Nick! What’s going on with you and Taylor?”

I laughed to myself. Oh boy.

“We were married, and now we’re divorced, story of my life.” He chuckled.

“She left you for me!” Alex shouted as everyone turned and looked at us.

“Yes, she left me for my sister, how cold is that?!” Nick joked.

“You’re making me sound like a heartbreaker!” I scoffed.

“You’re a cold heartbreaker!” Nick sighed dramatically as he placed his head on Justin’s shoulder as I rolled my eyes.

“Why is If Only They Knew your favorite song?” A girl asked as everyone diverted their attention back to the band.

“Because it’s one of those songs that gets its point across, that no matter what people say or think your opinion isn’t going to change on that person you have feelings for.” Nick smiled.

“What does your tattoo under your collarbone say?” Another girl asked.

“It says all you need is love, call me cliché.” Nick laughed as Andrew made his hands into a love heart shape.

“Speaking of love, when are you going to pluck up the damn courage to tell the girl you like how you feel?!” Alex smirked as Nick glared at her. I pinched her side hard as she yelped.

“Stop with the bullshit!” I whispered as I hit her across the head.

“I’m getting abused over here!” She whined as she grabbed my hand so I couldn’t pinch her anymore. “So yeah, Nicholas?”

“I don’t know what you’re talking about, now shut up Alexandra, this is fan asking question time not annoying sister time!” He winked.

“Nick, who do you like?!” A girl in the third row squealed.

I glanced at Alex who’s smirk had grown even bigger.

“I don’t like anyone.” He shrugged.

“Liar!” Alex laughed.

“Alex, who does Nick like?!” The same girl squealed once more.

“My lips are sealed.” She said as she put a finger to her lips.

“Lame!” She sighed.

“I don’t like anyone!” Nick protested as he glared at his sister.

“Before this turns into a sibling rivalry fight hit us with more questions!” Eric said, trying to divert the subject.

“Eric! Can I be your girlfriend.” A girl asked, attempting to be seductive.

“Girl, please-” Alex started as I shoved my hand over her mouth as she glared at me.

“I have a girlfriend, sorry babe.” He winked as the girl practically melted on the spot.

“Gross!” I squealed as I moved my hand away from Alex’s hand and wiped her spit off of it.

“It’s what you get!” She shrugged.

“You’ll get used to it.” Jake laughed as Alex flipped him off.

I spent the rest of the question and answer session watching Alex like a hawk, she was exactly like me for the sheer fact she didn’t shut up, and she wouldn’t leave Nick alone throughout the whole thing, I had to admit though, it was fucking hilarious, especially as he got so frustrated at one point he chucked his bottle of water at Alex and it hit her square in the face.

“How was your question and answer session?” Lidia asked as we stood outside the tent.

“It was fucking hilarious, how was yours?” I asked, taking Alex’s white Ray Bans off her head and putting them on my face.

“Same old, although, one girl kept insisting Matt and I were married.” She laughed.

“Well, you practically are.” I grinned as she nudged me.

Nathan came running over to us as he stopped dead in front of me, trying to catch his breath.

“What’s wrong, Nath?” I asked, raising an eyebrow.

“We’re out of food!” He exclaimed dramatically.

“That’s it?! Well that’s your fault!” I laughed as I hit him across the head as he stood upright.

“You don’t understand! I must have food!” He whined.

I shook my head and chuckled. “Looks like we’re going to have to go and get some then aren’t we? You’re paying!”

“Fine, fine! Just take me to a store!” He said as he rested his head on my shoulder.

“I’m coming along!” Alex announced as she linked arms with me.

“What’s going on?” Matt questioned as he walked over to us.

“VanDame here has eaten all the damn food so we have to go and get more!” I sighed.

“I’ll come along, we need more food anyway.” He chuckled.

“What’s this about food?” Nick laughed as he walked out of the tent with Justin, Eric and Andrew.

“We’re out of food as your shower buddy has eaten it all, therefore we have to go and get more”

“I’m coming!” Justin said as he jumped up and down. “I need Sour-Patch kids!”

“Fuck yeah, high-five me!” I laughed as we high-fived each other.

“Yeah we need more food too, so we might as well come along.” Nick shrugged as Omar ran over to us.

“We’re out of food!” He exclaimed.

“No shit, Sherlock! We’re going to get some more though so don’t worry.” I smiled.

“Can I come along? Can I can I can I?!” He begged.

I shrugged and nodded. “Why not? Everyone else is.”

And when I said “Everyone else is” I meant it. Hit The Lights minus Collin, Alex, Hayden, Logan, Jake and I, as well as A Rocket To The Moon and Taking Back Sunday. Needless to say I felt sorry for Wal-Mart, ha-ha.

“I want these! AND THESE!” Nathan said tossing random bags of chips into the basket he was carrying.

“Get whatever you want, you’re paying!” I laughed as I picked up a bottle of Coke and Sour-Patch Kids and chucked them in his basket.

He rolled his eyes and began to run away and down another aisle. I mumbled under my breath as I nearly walked into Nick who suddenly appeared out of an aisle I was about to walk up.

“Shit! You nearly gave me a heart attack!” I laughed as he held his hands up.

“Not my intention, although, I can’t find anyone at all.” He chuckled as he pushed his hair out of his face.

“Well I was with Nathan but he’s ran off, this place is the biggest Wal-Mart I’ve ever seen!” I exclaimed as we began to walk together, glancing down the aisles we passed.

“There’s Alex!” Nick exclaimed as he moved aside of me to see. And there was Alex, running towards us with her arms full of a variety of different junk food, I couldn’t help but laugh.

“You’re just as bad as Nathan!” I shrieked as she stuck her tongue out at me. “I need more!” She said before running off down another aisle.

“Now you can see what I mean when I say we’re not related.” He scoffed.

“Hm, I don’t know, you seem pretty similar to me.” I joked as he attempted to trip me up.

“Not cool, bro! Not cool!” I huffed as I walked off.

“You can’t walk out of our marriage! What about the children!” He mimicked, shouting after me.

I spun around and laughed at him, before running down the nearest aisle.

We ended up with more food than I’d imagined. It looked like Nathan had literally picked up one of everything in the damn store. We had more junk food than I’d ever seen in my life, not that I was complaining, considering I wasn’t the one paying for it though, ha. Although I did end up giving ten bucks towards it as Nathan literally got on his knees and begged me in front of everyone.

“I’m so happy!” He exclaimed as he ran up the steps of the bus with the bags.

“Yeah I bet you are!” I chuckled following after him.

“I promise I won’t eat so much again!”

“Nath, we both know you can’t keep that promise.” I scoffed as I rummaged through one of the bags, pulling out my bottle of Coke and pack of Sour-Patch Kids.

“Yeah, I know.” He winked before shoving all the food in the cupboard.

I rolled my eyes and unscrewed the top of the bottle off, bringing it to my lips and drinking some.

“Gotcha!” Alex yelled as she grabbed my sides. I jumped and ended up getting Coke over the both of us.

“Oh man!” She huffed as she looked down at her shirt, I couldn’t help but laugh, she got the worst end of it.

“Karma!” I laughed.

She grabbed the Coke out of my hand and chucked it over me.

“Oops!” She smirked.

“You ass!” I laughed as I tackled her to the floor as we pretended to knock each other senseless.

“I’m not even going to ask!” Hayden chuckled as her and Collin made their way past us.

“Me neither.” He croaked.

“You dickhead!” I scoffed as I got off of her.

“I’ll have you know, I came over here out of the goodness of my heart to suggest a movie marathon tonight.” She said as she stood up.

“Sounds like a good idea, although, I have to shower first.” I glared.

“Oh take all the time you want” She laughed. “Well it’s six now, how about we start at seven? On our bus?”

“I think I can manage to cut my shower short, but that sounds like a plan.” I said as we high-fived.

“Well considering I need to shower too I better get going, I’ll see you in an hour” She winked as she hugged me tightly.

“Ew!” I whined.

“Embrace it.” She laughed squeezing me tighter before letting go.

“Why do I put up with you?” I scoffed.

“Because you love me, just like everyone else.” She said proudly before running off the bus.

Chyeah, right.

Two hours later I found myself on A Rocket To The Moon’s bus with Hayden, Alex, Logan, Jake, Nathan and of course Justin, Eric, Andrew and Nick. Taking Back Sunday decided against it as they wanted some ‘band time’ or something along those lines, I was half happy they declined, purely because I wouldn’t have to endure Adam again in the same day. Both our buses were pretty much identical in everything it was hilarious, you had to love Fueled By Ramen. We’d watched Harry Potter And The Chamber Of Secrets considering it was Alex’s favorite movie as well as mine, but that was the only non horror movie we were apparently going to watch. Words could not describe how much I was dreading it. Scary movies and I did not mix.

“So I’m thinking we watch Saw to Saw Four, you game?” She asked glancing at everyone who cheered except me, who groaned.

“What’s the matter, Taylor? Scared?” Nick taunted as I kicked him in the leg.

“They aren’t scary they’re terrible and gory.” I scoffed.

“Then you’ll be fine, trust me.” Alex laughed.

I was not okay. After we’d watched the first and second one which weren’t that bad but the third one changed everything.

“I feel fucking sick!” I announced as I stood up.

“Wimp!” Nathan exclaimed as I hit him over the head with a pillow.

“I’m going to get some air!” I laughed as I made my way off of the bus and walked the short distance from their bus to ours.

I looked up at and smiled to myself as I glanced at the stars are scattered in the sky.

“Boo!” Nick shouted from behind me.

“You dick!” I laughed as I led down in the grass.

“You’re such a wimp for bailing on Saw.” He scoffed.

“Sorry I’m not sadistic enough to watch them!” I retaliated as he sat down.

“Touché” He laughed.

“Why are you here anyway?” I questioned, sitting up.

“Fine, I’ll go!” He said dramatically as he began to get up.

“You know that’s not what I meant! You’re missing your beloved Saw movies.” I chuckled.

“Well what if you suddenly passed out, woke up, and then began rolling around in the grass again? That would be a fucking nightmare” He joked, sitting back down as I flipped him off.

“Let it go!” I laughed as I pulled some grass out of the ground and chucked it at him.

“Was that really necessary?” He glared.

“Of course it was, everything I say and do is necessary.” I said proudly.

“You keep telling yourself that sunshine, you keep telling yourself that.” He chuckled as I flipped him off again.

“So, I didn’t really say thanks for today, I mean it when I say I wouldn’t and couldn’t have done it without you.” I laughed.

“As long as you don’t try to bite me again, you’re welcome.” He joked.

“I’m not a cannibal! I just don’t like being made to do things I don’t want to do.” I shrugged.

“I know, but I suppose being thrown in at the deep end is good sometimes, right?”

“Right.” I agreed as I leaned over and kissed him on the cheek. “Goodnight divorced husband.” I laughed as I stood up and walked up the first step of the bus, before turning back around.

He laughed and flipped me off before standing up. “Goodnight divorced wife.” He winked as he made his way around the front of the bus and walked the short distance back to his.

I leaned back against the door of the bus and laughed to myself. Absolutely no regrets.
