Anything but Ordinary

I Have Faith In Them

“Be a good girl today, Ember will pick you up later” Angel mumbled to her four year old daughter that was just starting preschool. Seeing all the little kids running around or clutching their mother’s legs was making the mother nervous. Kyree didn’t seem at all nervous about anything as her hazel doe eyes wandered around seeing all kinds of things in the classroom that would be considered hers for the next year.

“Okay and say hi to Brian for me Emmy” the little four year old was jealous that Ember was able to go to work with her mother today and from now on since Angel thought it would be a good idea for her to get out in the open more.

All Angel had to do was keep Brian away from Ember and everything would be fine that was one task that she was willing to do and it would be easy since Ember was always so attached to her mother even as a little girl. The white haired woman nodded her head with a small smile promising that she would say hi.

As the three walked further into the classroom Angel mumbled a greeting to the teacher before bending down to sign in her little girl for her first day. “Don’t worry Ms. Raine she will be in capable hands” the woman was about Angel’s age as she beamed at her.

Angel let out a forceful smile as she scribbled her name “It’s not her I’m worried about” she mumbled under her breath. Deep in her heart she knew that Kyree would be one of the ones that would stand out of the class with her enthusiasm. Seeing Kyree bouncing on her toes Ember took the laminated smiley face with her name on it and pinned it to the back of Kyree’s shirt.

“Thanks!” she gave her a toothless grin before spinning around giving her older sister a hug. Ember hugged her tightly not wanting to let her go as sad as this sounded Kyree is her best friend she didn’t have anyone else to talk to or play with so now having her going to school was going to make her more lonely.

As she let her go she watched the hazel eyed girl hug their mom and it got her thinking maybe it was time to have friends her own age…no that was nearly impossible. Shaking her head she got up to her feet as Angel kissed Kyree’s temple before walking out with her oldest daughter trailing behind her.

“You okay?”

Ember glanced at her mother that was looking at her with a concerned look as they walked across the street where her car was. Biting her lip she nodded feeling the beams of sun hit her sensitive skin “I’m okay. Just going to miss her that’s all” she mumbled.

Angel knew this day would come as she hugged her daughter closer to her side “This is an opportunity Em, you can make friends your own age. Have fun with your life that is why I’m taking you to work with me. Maybe you will find some friends there” tapping her white nose with a smile.

The purple eyed girl wiggled her nose “Yeah…” she trailed off as she got in the car looking at the scenery as her mother took off the school grounds. It made her nervous that they were inching closer to the place where Brian and the rest of them were.

After the incident at their house a few days ago he hasn’t come over to see Kyree which devastated her luckily, Ember reasoned with the four year old that his girlfriend missed him dearly and wanted to spend some time with him. Kyree pouted saying that if she was his girlfriend she wouldn’t hog him all to herself she would let him do whatever he wanted.

That made Ember chuckle at her bluntness, but couldn’t agree with the four year old seeing how possessive Michelle was when she picked up Brian from their house. It was within reason since her boyfriend was at his manager’s house instead of his own.

As they walked in the building her palms started to get sweaty rubbing her hands together Angel gave a soothing rub on her back as they entered one of the elevators. “Blu?” Angel looked up to see an older man running towards the elevator in high speed; she took her foot out to stop the door from closing.

Once the older man got in she put her foot down watching the older man heaving from his spot, both women waited for the man to catch his breath. As he finally stood up Angel’s eyes held recognition of the man before her “Mr. Collins it’s so nice to see you”

He chuckled leaning back on the cool elevator wall “Please call me Ted. I see that you are making your way up to the top”

“You can say that; last time you saw me I was managing a small pop group” Angel gave him a friendly smile.

“I do remember. Are they still together?”

“You know how pop groups are, they always disband after a few years” that got Ted to laugh knowing how true that was. It was less likely for rock bands to disband instead of pop groups so it was a nice change for Angel to have the same clients.

“Have any new clients?”

Angel started to tell him about the groups and people that she has been managing Ember saw how happy she was talking about her success with someone that truly meant something to her. It seemed like she was showing off in some way which was unlike her mother.

She always told her that you don’t need to prove yourself to anyone that you are good enough all you had to do was keep track on what you do best. This insistent wasn’t it. Her mother was bragging in some way and seeing how Ted’s reaction was to the whole response it left him somewhat bitter.

When he raised a brow at the last band he had to say something “Avenged Sevenfold? Isn’t that a bad choice to manage them?”

“Why is it a bad choice Ted?” it was Angel’s turn to raise a brow as she turned to the older man that let out a chuckle.

“Isn’t it obvious? Their best asset just passed away, the person that made them unique isn’t here anymore. Without their drummer they aren’t going to continue; they are slowly going to drop in popularity because let’s face it Blu, The Rev was the crowd pleaser”

That made Angel frown at his idiotic comments “Obviously you don’t see the whole picture, yes Jimmy was a very important part of Avenged Sevenfold but so is the whole band. Every single person has something to offer and saying that they are going to fail is demeaning. They are going to make through this even stronger. You’ll see”

“Oh? And how so? What is your guarantee on them succeeding?” Ted inched closer to Angel making Ember uncomfortable how close he was getting to her mother. Ember bit her lip feeling her heart speed up at the argument that they were having, pressing her back against the wall she took slow deep breaths as her mother stood there with confidence.

“Simple. I have faith in those boys and they have talent you can’t take that away from them” the dinging sound of the elevator stopped their argument Ember was relieved for. Angel saw that it was their floor so she excused herself as Ember followed her straight behind her.

“You are going to regret giving them a chance Blu. Just wait, you will be begging for your old job back”

Angel shook her head wanting to get rid of those thoughts of working with someone like Ted Collins it was the most demeaning thing she has ever done. She hated the job and it wasn’t her passion to become someone’s slave; she was proud that she had to struggle to get where she was.

“Mom?” Ember whispered

“Yes?”

“You okay?”

“Of course. He just knew how to push my buttons” straightening her blouse she opened the door hearing the guitars strumming a random tune while others were talking about random things. “Good morning boys.” As all of them turned to see their manager there they smiled in greeting “Hope you don’t mind me having my assistant here with me”

“No problem Blu” Matt said from where he was sitting.

“Great” Angel clapped her hands together as she pulled her daughter closer to her telling everyone that Ember was going to be her assistant and if anyone wanted anything they could ask her to get it. Brian saw Ember for the first time in days and it made him tense that she was going to be around more often.

His dark brown eyes looked around to see that Matt wasn’t pleased either but masked his mood by putting on a smile. As they started talking about what they wanted on certain things and tour dates and such he couldn’t help but sneak glances at Ember who was off in a daze.

Her soft white hair was getting a little longer in the front as her bangs were hiding half of her face as she looked down at her pale hands. Even though she was pale as a ghost he wanted to see those beautiful eyes that he was entranced with when he first met her. Brian thought it was contacts that made her eyes at certain color but seeing that there was no lining around her pupils that indicated that she had contacts on he couldn’t help but stare in awe at her beauty.

After her eyes he was fascinated with her hair he had to admire that she kept her original hair color instead of dying it. It would have made her life so much easier if she changed the color but she didn’t; she didn’t change anything about herself. Ember-Rose had more confidence than she actually knows she has not changing yourself to fit in was something that he had to admire.

Ember pushed her glasses back up on her nose when she tilted her head back up she was taken aback to see that Brian was openly staring at her. Because of her pale complexion the heat that rushed on her cheeks were visible for everyone to see and those were one of the times she wished she was as dark as her mother and sister.

When he gave her a soft smile her eyes wavered as her heart skipped a beat not knowing what to do she gave him a small smile back before looking somewhere else. Ember couldn’t handle his intense gaze for too long. Matt saw the exchange that the two had with a frown on his lips his hazel eyes glanced at Brian wanting to talk to him about not getting close to the white haired girl.

He knew that he had to watch the two of them so Brian wouldn’t fuck up whatever he had left with Michelle. What those two have is in jeopardy at the moment and being Val’s husband he was more inclined to help her and Michelle to keep an eye on Brian. It didn’t seem like the guitarist even cared about what trouble his relationship was in his eyes were set on another and that made Matt’s blood boil.

Thanks for the love for this story. Sorry it took so long but I was stuck with this chapter and I got an idea so hope you like this so far even if it is a bit boring how Brian keeps staring at Ember. It will get better I promise :D it just needs to build. Any ideas on how Brian will get closer to Ember? Thoughts are always nice!
