Lust for Order

Detention.

I was talking with Hermione as we waited for the pink prune to show up to our first lesson.

“I wonder how she’s going to ruin our lives?” I asked, Hermione laughed,
“You really don’t like her do you?” Hermione smirked,
“No, not after the way that prune treated me…” I glared at the office door.

The paper bird that was flying in the air burnt to nothing.

“Good morning, children.” Umbridge entered from the back of the classroom, and began walking forward, “Ordinary Wizarding Level examinations. O-W-Ls. More commonly known as OWLs. Study hard and you will be rewarded. Fail to do so, and the consequences may be severe.” Umbridge smiled with her patronizing tone, which burned my skin even more then the sun could as I gripped the table strongly. Hermione quickly nudged me stopping me from breaking the table. Books floated down the room and onto our tables.

“Your previous instruction in this subject has been disturbingly uneven. But you’ll be pleased to know, from now on you will be following a carefully structured, Ministry-approved course of defensive magic. Yes?” Umbridge looked over to Hermione as she had her hand up,
“There’s nothing in here about using defensive spells?” Hermione asked as I quickly looked through the book, she was right.
“Using spells? Well, I can’t imagine why you would need to use spells in my classroom.” Umbridge spoke.
“We’re not gonna use magic?” Ron asked,
“You’ll be learning about defensive spells in a secure, risk-free way.” Umbridge explained,
“That’s a load of crap. If we get attacked by anybody using dark magic then how the bloody hell are we meant to defend ourselves?” I snapped viciously,
“Students will raise their hands when they speak in my class.” Umbridge spoke, my eye twitched evilly, I really, really wanted to bang her head against the wall. Umbridge stopped at the front of the class.

“It is the view of the Ministry that a theoretical knowledge will be sufficient to get you through your examinations, which, after all, is what school is all about.” Umbridge spoke,
“And how’s theory supposed to prepare us for what’s out there?” Harry asked as I was about to say the same thing,
“There is nothing out there, dear. Who do you imagine wants to attack children like yourself?” Umbridge asked,
“Oh, I don’t know. Maybe Lord Voldemort.” Harry snapped.

The room fell silent.

“Now, let me make this quite plain. You have been told that a certain dark wizard is at large once again. This is a lie.” Umbridge spoke,
“It’s not a lie. I saw him. I fought him.” Harry snapped,
“Detention, Mr. Potter.” Umbridge snapped,
“How can you give someone detention when they are telling the truth!” I snapped,
“Detention for you too, Miss. Skylar.” Umbridge snapped,
“So according to you Cedric Diggory dropped dead of his own accord?” Harry yelled,
“Cedric Diggory’s death was a tragic accident.” Umbridge spoke,
“It was murder. Voldemort killed him.” Harry yelled,
“Enough!” Umbridge screamed, “Enough.” She repeated, “See me later, Mr. Potter. My office.” Umbridge spoke.

I stood up abruptly.

“I will not be taught by someone like yourself.” I spat and grabbed my bags and walked towards the door, I tried to open it but it locked.

“Sit back down, Miss. Skylar.” Umbridge spoke, I glared at her,
“Don’t test me.” I snapped,
“Don’t disobey orders then, your father is in a lot of trouble as it is so don’t make the Ministry have reason to think you are trouble also.” Umbridge spoke,
“Don’t talk about my personal matters in front of my friends!” I screamed and kicked the door down in anger and stormed out.

I ran quickly to the common room and stood inside the empty dormitory.

I screamed the loudest my lungs could hope.

I think the whole school heard me actually.
