Hidden in the Shadows

Milan and Raina’s Apartment
11:56 P.M.

Raina felt the bed sink in, and she opened her eyes. It was completely dark out and she was extremely hungry, she’d missed dinner.

“Hello,” she called out into the dark.

“Hey baby, I’m back,” said Milan wrapping his big arms around her and pull her to him. She turned around and saw him lying next to her. She smiled and kissed him.

“I missed you so much,”

“I missed you too,” he said

“What time is it?”

“Midnight,”

“I’m so hungry, I never had dinner I just came home and fell asleep after shopping.”

“Did you find your dress?” he asked.

“Yup,” she smiled remembering how beautiful she looked in the elegant white dress. “I’m gonna go downstairs and eat, all three of us are starving,” she laughed sitting up off the bed.

“I’ll come with you,” he said. The guest room door was shut and Snezana must have gone to sleep. They walked down the stairs into the quiet dark house. Thankfully, Raina wasn’t craving anything that would cause Milan to have to go out. She ate the dinner his mother had made and then the two headed back to bed. Raina changed into her pajamas and she snuggled up to Milan and fell back to sleep.

The alarm clock went off at 8:00. There was a practice at 9:00 and Raina was going with Milan. She heard Milan rise out of bed and say

“I’m going to see if my mother wants to come,” Raina sat up in bed and waited for him to come back. He walked back in and said

“She’s coming with us,” Raina got up and got ready for the day.

“Did you know the team got a new player?”

“No,” said Raina looking up at Milan in surprise. “When did that happen?”

“Yesterday, the new kids name is Richard DeLuca, he’s only 20 but he looks like he’ll make a great addition. He didn’t play against Ottawa but he was in our practice beforehand and he seemed to keep up with us.”

“I’ll have to meet him,” said Raina going back to putting on mascara. “Is he nice?”

“Ya, he has a girlfriend, she seems like a really nice girl, her name’s Anna,”

“I’ll make her feel comfortable,” said Raina, “What team was he on before the Bruins?”

“He was drafted last year to the Dallas Stars, he didn’t get much publicity, but now that he’s coming to the Bruins he probably will.”

“Who’d we trade?” Raina hated when a player got traded from the team, especially if she was close to them.

“That guy we got last year, Lance White,” Raina hadn’t known him very well and she felt relieved someone she didn’t know had been traded.

“Can’t wait to meet Anna,” she said

“She seems like a pretty shy girl, so don’t be to outgoing,” laughed Milan, knowing Raina’s openness to new people.

“What does she look like so I know who to look for?”

“She’s got straight blonde hair, she’s fair skinned, and she’s average height,” After they all were ready Milan drove Raina and his mother to the Ristuccia Arena where they’d have practice. When Raina walked in she instantly looked for Anna. She wasn’t hard to find she sat up on the bleachers alone in the corner looking out at the ice. Raina told Snezana she was going to meet her and then walked up to Anna.

“Hey,” said Raina sitting next to her. Anna looked at her. She was a pretty girl with an angelic face. She had big light blue eyes, a small nose, and small lips. She was fair skinned with long straight blonde hair like Milan had said. She had to be a couple years younger than Raina. Anna smiled at her and said

“Hi,”

“I’m Raina Julien,” she said, feeling frustrated she couldn’t just say “Raina Lucic.”

“Hi Raina,” she said shyly, “I’m Anna,”

“I’m Milan Lucic’s fiancée; you’re the new guy’s girlfriend aren’t you?”

“Yes,” said Anna looking happy someone had approached her to talk. “Richard DeLuca,” the girls had an awkward moment before Anna said “I was so nervous about coming here, I was pretty good friends with his old team’s wives and girlfriends but it was such a surprise when he told me he got traded to the Bruins. I was happy because I know this team will make him more well known in the NHL, but I feel so much out of my comfort zone.” Raina smiled at her and said

“How about I give you a grand tour around Boston? I’ll introduce you to some of my friends today when they get here and we can all go out to shop and eat.” Anna grinned and said

“You would do that?”

“Definitely, it will be loads of fun!” Anna said

“Thanks Raina,” the team came out onto the ice and Raina found DeLuca amongst the players. Anna‘s face lit up and she said “There he is!” It was obvious she loved him a lot.”

“How long have you two been together?”

“Eight years,” said Anna. Raina felt shocked and said

“Eight years!?”

“Ya we’ve known each other since we were kids, and we started dating at the end of grade school. How long have you and Milan been together?” said Anna eyeing her stomach.

“I’ve known him for about five years but we almost instantly got engaged four months ago, and now I’m pregnant and we’re getting married in April.” Raina knew Anna was thinking their relationship had been fast and she said “It’s a very long, long story,” Anna laughed and said

“I’ll be glad to here it later,” Raina saw Jasmiina walking up towards them.

“Hi Raina and?”

“This is Anna; she’s the new guy’s girlfriend, Richard DeLuca,”

“Hello Anna, welcome to the Bruins,” said Jasmiina sitting down next to Raina. “I’m the goalies girlfriend,”

“Tuukka Rask?” said Anna

“That is correct,” said Jasmiina.

“I did my research on the team before I got here,” said Anna laughing. Jasmiina asked Anna all the questions on where she had been before and then the girls focused on the practice. Raina could tell DeLuca was a good player, the way he handled the puck and moved with the other players. He was destined to be great. The practice was over in an hour and the girls stood outside talking.

“So when are we going out to Boston?” said Anna.

“How about today, this afternoon? In fact, it doesn’t have to just be us girls, we’ll bring the guys a long to so Rick can feel more comfortable around his teammates.”

“Alright that sounds good,” said Anna. They waited outside for the boy to come out so they could tell them of their plans. Milan and Tuukka were the first out and Raina introduced them.

“Tuuk, Milan this is Anna she’s DeLuca’s girlfriend,”

“Nice to meet you,” said Milan shaking her hand. When Rick came out of the locker room Anna waved him over. Rick walked over and joined them. Apparently he’d already made friends with Tuukka and Milan because he said

“Hey guys, what’s up?” Raina was surprised at his height. He was only about 5’9”, he must be really amazing if he’s that short and made it to the NHL. He had brown hair that curled down on his ears, brown eyes, and a handsome face. Milan said

“Rick this is my fiancée Raina, and Tuukka’s girlfriend Jasmiina.” both girls said hi before Raina said

“Anna, Jaz, and I are going shopping and out to eat today, will you three come with us?”

“Sure,” said Rick, looking overjoyed, “I can’t wait to see this city, it looks awesome.”

“We’ll come,” said Milan and Tuukka.

“Where should we meet you guys?” said Rick.

“Oh it’s fine, we’ll come pick you up, where do you live?”

“Bowdoin St., Apartment building two, room 223,”

“We’ll pick you up at 2:00,” said Milan. The group departed and went back to their cars.

“They seem really nice,” said Raina. “He’s really good at hockey,”

“I know, everyone was amazed at how well he plays.”

“Where’s he from?” asked Raina

“Oregon,” said Milan, “I didn’t know Oregon even liked hockey,” he laughed. They drove home and helped Snezana pack up her bags. Ger flight was at 1:30, which was perfect timing. Milan drove her to the airport, and then to pick up Rick and Anna. It was easily to find where they lived. There were three apartment buildings on the street, and Milan and Raina went into the second one. Room 223 was on the second of the four floors. They found the door with the numbers 223 on it and knocked. A second later Anna opened the door.

“Hi guys,” she said. “Come on in,” Raina walked into the couple’s apartment and looked around, it was average. There was a kitchen that connected to a living room, a bedroom, a bathroom, and a small office-like computer room.

“You have a nice place,” said Raina walking into the living room.

“Thanks,” said Anna. A second later Rick walked into out of the bedroom and said

“I’m ready to go,” The four left and headed towards Fanueil Hall where they would meet Jasmiina and Tuukka.

The six spent the night showing Anna and Rick around Boston. First, Raina and Jasmiina showed Anna the best places to shop, then they went on a duck tour which gave them a look at the historical side of Boston, and lastly, they went out for dinner at an upscale restaurant on Newbury St. It was 11:00 by the time they were driving home and Raina was excited to sit with Anna at tomorrow nights game against the Tampa Bay Lightning.

“See you tomorrow Anna,” said Raina waving to her out the car window when they dropped her off. They had already dropped off Jasmiina and Tuukka and it was just Milan and Raina in the car. When they got home, they took a long shower together. Both Raina and Milan had no problem having sex still. Milan had to admit there was something extremely erotic about having sex with her when she was pregnant. He wasn’t freaked out at all. When they got into bed Raina sat up on her pillows and said

“I’m so glad tomorrow’s game is at home,”

“I bet they are too,” said Milan leaning down and kissing her stomach.

“They can hear the games; I know they can because every time I go I feel them moving.” Raina was only 18 weeks so when the babies did move it was only a fluttering feeling, no kicks or punches yet. She didn’t feel them move much except for when she went to games or her heart rate got faster. The loud music and her screaming at the Bruins games made them move almost the entire time she was there. It became pretty annoying after awhile. “They move even more when daddy scores.” Milan smiled and kissed her belly again. He moved up onto the bed next to her and said

“I wish they’d hurry up and come out now,” Raina laughed and said

“You’ll have to wait until July.”

“That’s to far away,” he said.

“It’ll come fast,” said Raina. The two settled down and went to sleep.
