Lust for Death

The Lost Diadem

“But what…?” Hermione stopped when we saw the portrait move.

A tiny dot had appeared on the painting, as the person got closer and closer they became more recognizable to us all as we smiled.

The portrait opened. Neville Longbottom stood in front of us all, a few cuts and bruises on his face but a big smile appeared when he saw Harry,
“I knew you’d come! I knew it, Harry!” Neville cheered.

“Neville – what the – how?” Harry asked as Neville gave him a hug, he also saw Ron, Hermione and myself and gave us welcoming hugs. Neville had a black eye as I looked at him with a small frown,
“What happened? No offence but you look a mess.” I spoke and turned his face gently,
“This is nothing, Seamus is worse. You’ll see. Shall we get going, then? Oh. Ab, there might be a couple more people on the way.” Neville spoke,
“Couple more? What d’you mean, a couple more, Longbottom? There’s a curfew and a Caterwauling Charm on the whole village!” Aberforth snapped,
“I know, that’s why they’ll be Apparating directly into the bar. Just send them down the passage when they get here will you? Thanks a lot.” Neville explained.

Neville helped Hermione into the passage, Ron followed then myself as Neville led Hermione and Ron ahead, Harry gave his gratitude towards Aberforth and then I taken his hand to help him into the passage.

“How long has this been here?” Ron asked, “It isn’t on the Marauder’s Map, is it, Harry? I thought there were only seven passages in and out of school?” Ron added,
“They sealed off all of those the start of the year. There’s no chance of getting through any of them now, not with curses over the entrances and Death Eaters and Dementors waiting at the exits.” Neville explained.

“Who did this to you though Neville?” I asked referring to all the cuts and bruises, Ron chuckled a little,
“Seriously Meira you’re more motherly then my mum.” Ron spoke,
“I’m not… there’s a difference between being concerned and motherly.” I retorted,
“Sure…” Ron spoke.

“You guys know the Carrows right? They’re in charge of all discipline. They like punishment, the Carrows.” Neville explained,
“Like Umbridge?” I asked,
“Nah, they make her look tame. The other teachers are all supposed to refer us to the Carrows if we do anything wrong. They don’t, though, if they can avoid it. You can tell they all hate them as much as we do.” Neville explained.

I felt incredibly sorry for Neville but I had a feeling he was mainly standing up to what they were saying.

We reached the end of the passage as Neville opened the other portrait,
“Look who it is! Didn’t I tell you?” Neville cheered. Harry stepped in first, followed by Ron, Hermione and then myself.

Everyone cheered when they all saw us; it was great to see everyone again. Though as they asked us what our plan was, Harry stopped.
“Plan?” Harry spoke looking at everyone, “Well, there’s something we – Ron, Hermione, Mei and I – need to do, and then we’ll get out of here.” Harry explained,
“What do you mean? ‘get out of here?” Neville asked, nobody was laughing, the room was stupidly silent.
“We haven’t come back to stay.” Harry started as he rubbed his scar, I had a feeling he was having a few problems with it. “There’s something important we need to do-” Harry spoke,
“What is it?” Neville asked,
“I-I can’t tell you.” Harry answered, everybody muttered amongst themselves, I taken Harry’s hand.

“Harry, we can trust them. They’ve been through so much with us. They’re our friends. Plus they might know something.” I whispered to Harry,
“Mei has a point.” Ron agreed, Hermione nodded as Harry sighed, he held my hand for a second then spoke up.

“There’s something we need to find.” Harry started as I smiled, “Something – something that’ll help us overthrow You-Know-Who. It’s here at Hogwarts, but we don’t know where it is, or what it looks like. It might have belong to Ravenclaw. Has anyone heard of an object like that? Has anyone ever come across something with her eagle on it, for instance?” Harry asked, I looked at the group of Ravenclaw’s in the room, between all of them only one spoke up,
“I can think of something.” Luna spoke,
“Oh here we go…” Ron muttered,
“There’s her lost diadem. I told you about it, remember, Harry? The lost diadem of Ravenclaw? Daddy’s trying to duplicate it.” Luna spoke,
“Yes but the lost diadem, is lost Luna.” Cho spoke.

“When was it lost?” I asked,
“Centuries ago, they say.” Cho answered,
“What is a diadem?” Ron spoke,
“It’s a kind of crown.” Cho explained.
“She’s showing it on her statue in the Ravenclaw common room.” Luna explained, I looked at Harry,
“Go see it, the search will be a hell of a lot easier then.” I muttered Harry nodded.

“Come on then Luna, lead the way.” Harry spoke, they both left for the Ravenclaw tower after getting a warning from Neville about the guards on patrol.
