Have Faith in Me

Duet

Matt’s POV:
The things this girl did to me. It took a lot to get me to blush; all she had to do was say that she and I had sex and I was blushing. It wasn’t like it would’ve been the first time I had sex with a girl but for some reason when she said it, it was different.

I watched her head to the back lounge, fighting the urge to smile. I let out a huge sigh as I leaned my head back. I let out a frustrated growl as thoughts about asking Rachel about what she was hiding was. I wanted to ask her so bad but I knew it wasn’t the right time. I grabbed Rachel’s abandoned laptop and brought it onto my lap. I looked up the lyrics to the song I had caught her singing.

“Have Faith In Me,” I muttered under my breath. “A Day to Remember. Hm.” I clicked play and watched the screen as the video play.

“All right, Sheryl. Later” I heard Rachel laugh. I quickly closed the tab I had opened and put the laptop back where it was.

“Recover from the blush I gave you?” she giggled as she sat back down next to me. I smiled sheepishly. “By the way, you look cute when you blush.” I rolled my eyes and mumbled something incoherently. “What was that?”

“I said men don’t blush!” I repeated louder. She laughed.

“Whatever, Matthew. Now come on. Help me finish this.” She resumed her searching through pictures, scooting close to me. I hoped to God she didn’t feel my erratic heartbeat. I could feel the heat coming from her, indicating she was blushing. From what, I didn’t know.

“That one?” I asked, pointing to a picture of Zacky laughing. She cocked her head to the side, taking in the picture. I watched her as she thought it over.

“Yeah, that one’s really good,” Rachel finally decided. She wrote something down like she had been for every picture she had decided was one of the best ones. I glanced at the papers and saw that they were numbers. She yawned widely as she continued looking through the pictures.

“You should go back to sleep.” She looked up at me and shook her head.

“I’m fine. Just trying to wake up.”

Rachel’s POV:
I continued going through the photos, the blush never fading from my face. All I did was lean against him and this is what happens. God, what was wrong with me?! I yawned again for the millionth time. My eyes started to close but I fought to keep them open. Before I knew it, my head was resting on Matt’s shoulder and I was falling asleep.

I buried my face deeper into the pillow my head was resting on, breathing in deeply the scent on it. It took me a moment to register that the smell was an unfamiliar one but at the same time, I knew I had smelled it before. I took in another breath before realizing it was Matt’s scent. My eyes shot open and I sat up. I pulled back the curtain. I froze when I saw Zacky pausing in front of the curtain. His hand was raised as if he was going to pull back the curtain.

“You’re finally up. God, you slept more than the rest of us,” he laughed.

“I did not. I was up early but I guess I fell asleep again when I was with Matt,” I grumbled, rubbing the sleep from my eyes. Zacky smirked and raised an eyebrow. I rolled my eyes. “It was nothing, Zacky. He was just helping me pick out photos and I just fell asleep.” I climbed out of the bunk.

“Says the girl that was just sniffing his pillow.” I tossed him a glare as I walked out to the lounge.

“If it ain’t Little Miss Sleeps A Lot!” Brian teased.

“One day I sleep in a little and you guys make fun of me,” I grumbled as I sat down next to Johnny.

“You passed the ‘a little’ mark at 2:30, Rach,” Mike laughed. My eyes widened and I looked for a clock of some sort. I finally settled for my phone and saw it read 4:00.

“Holy shit, I slept a lot,” I said.

“I told you that you should’ve gone back to sleep,” Matt gloated. I glared at him and he just smirked. He gave me my laptop. “Thought you might like this back.” I grabbed it from him and just let it sit in front of me. I studied him for a moment, noting that he kept glancing at me.

He’s got something up his sleeve, I silently mused. Stifling a sigh, I opened up my laptop and busied myself with surfing the web.

It was a couple of hours before the concert and I was on the bus alone. All the guys had decided to go grab dinner at a local diner before the show. I was moving around the bus, singing along to Have Faith In Me.

Have faith in me
Cause there are things that I’ve seen I don’t believe
So cling to what you know and never let go
You should know things aren’t always what they seem

I said I’d never let you go and I never did
I said I’d never let you fall and I always meant it
If you didn’t have this chance then I never did
You’ll always find me right there, again

I had the feeling like someone was watching me but I shrugged it off as I continued singing.

I’m going crazy
Cause there are things in the streets I don’t believe
So we’ll pretend it’s alright and stay in for the night
Oh what a world
I’ll keep you safe here with me

I said I’d never let you go and I never did
I said I’d never let you fall and I always meant it
If you didn’t have this chance then I never did
You’ll always find me right there, again

I said I’d never let you go and I never did
I said I’d never let you fall and I always meant it
If you didn’t have this chance then I never did
You’ll always find me right there, again

A second, male voice took over as I moved on to the next verse. I froze mid-sway, immediately recognizing the voice.

They’ve got me on the outside, looking in
But I can’t see at all
With the weight of the world on my shoulders,
They just wanna see me fall

They’ve got me on the outside, looking in
But I can’t see at all
With the weight of the world on my shoulders
They just wanna see me fall

Matt came over to me and pulled me into his arms as he continued singing.

Have faith in me

I said I’d never let you go and I never did
I said I’d never let you fall and I always meant it
If you didn’t have this chance then I never did
You’ll always find me right there, again

I said I’d never let you go and I never did
I said I’d never let you fall and I always meant it
If you didn’t have this chance then I never did
You’ll always find me right there, again

My voice was shaky as I started to sing the last verse.

I said I’d never let you go, and I never did
I said I’d never let you go, and I never did
I said I’d never let you go, and I never did

Matt’s voice was quiet as he sang, “I said I’d never let you go, and I never did.” I felt his warm breath hit my lips. The bus door opened and I immediately jumped out of his hold. My face was blazing hot.

“I thought you said you weren’t feeling good, Shadows,” I heard Johnny say as I started towards the bunks. I felt Matt’s eyes on me as I retreated.

“I’m not. I’m not feeling good at all,” Matt murmured.
