Star waved goodbye to her parents then walked out the front door. Her heart was still aching over Alex but he knew in her mind that he would have wanted her to be happy. It didn’t take long for her to walk to the football field. Her peers all looked at her with pity. She ignored their stares and walked towards the bleachers. When she got there she noticed a familiar man sitting in her spot.
“Well hello Matt.” She smiled softly and took the seat next to him.
He smiled causing his dimples to pop out, “Hello Star, lovely evening isn’t it?”
“I guess.” Star laughed softly.
The whole game they exchanged a few words and laughed with each other while watching the home team kick ass. Matt couldn’t help but get upset when a group of girls walked past them and called Star a slut just because she was talking to another guy.
“Hey Star how about after the game we go get a hot dog or something?” Matt suggested.
Star hesitated, “I don’t know are you paying?”
“Of course.” Matt chuckled.
The home team won and they both left. Matt and Star walked down the street together to a local A&W to get a hot dog.
“So how are you?” Matt asked awkwardly.
Star laughed softly, “I‘ve been better. You?”
“Fine.”
Star smiled and talked with Matt a bit until their order was ready. He brought over the root beer floats, one contained regular root beer while the other had some heavy duty liquid sleeping medication. It would only take three drinks to knock her out.
“How about we walk?” Matt suggested not wanting people in the resteraunt to be suspicious when she passed out.
“Sure.” Star smiled grabbing her hotdog and root beer.
Matt grabbed his as well and they made their way down the street.
“It’s so weird to wake up and realize that Alex isn’t going to be there.” Star let a few tears fall.
Matt rubbed her back trying comfort her, “You should probably eat or you’ll get sick.”
Star nodded and ate her hot dog then washed it down with the root beer.
“Matt.” she collapsed into his arms.
He couldn’t help but smile when she passed out on him. Matt whipped away the tears that were on her cheeks and called Brian to come get them. As he waited Matt couldn’t help but gently run his fingers through her hair and inhale her scent of Victoria’s Secret’s perfume, it smelt even better up close.
“I love you.” He lightly pressed his lips to hers.
