Can't Sleep Tonight

Chapter 13

Cameron's POV

I really liked Kenz's family. They were like a normal family you see on tv, but they were real, too. Her little brother Leland was probably the cutest little kid I'd ever seen. I was trying not to laugh when he walked in on us last night. His reaction was pretty funny.

I sat there on the bed while Kenz was still sleeping. I watched her as she layed there, here head placed lightly against her pillow, and her quilt layed over her smoothly. She looked so peaceful and calm when she was asleep. it almost killed me to wake her up. At least the way of waking her up was a kiss.

"Good morning," she said, sitting up and kissing my cheek. I rubbed my hand up and down her arm.

"'Morning. Sleep well?"

"Yes. What do you want to do today?" she responded softly.

"Well, this is your hometown. I'll do whatever you want to do."

"Are you sure? Because I need some new shoes for tour."

"I'm sure. Why don't we go to the mall later, okay?"

"Okay. Thank you, Cam."

"No problem, Kenz. Love you." I kissed her softly on the lips.

"Love you, too," she said back, smiling.

Just then, her mom walked in.

"'Morning, you two. Breakfast is ready," she said with a smile and went back downstairs.

We went down to heat and then got ready for the mall. I sat on the couch waiting for Kenz to finish upstairs. Leland came in, pulling up the footrest and sitting on it right in front of me.

"So, you're my sister's rockstar boyfriend?" he asked.

"I wouldn't consider myself a rockstar, but yes. I am her boyfriend," I answered. He glared at me.

"But you're famous. And I can tell she really likes you. Please don't blow it." I laughed a little at those words.

"Trust me, I wasn't planning on it."

"Good. You know, it's kinda wierd to see someone from her posters right here in front of me in person. And even wierder to know she's dating him," he said. I couldn't help but smile.

"I never thought about that. I bet it is wierd."

Kenz came walking down the stairs in skinny jeans, a shirt with Eminem on it, and black flip flops.

"I didn't know you liked Eminem," I said, smiling.

"Please, he's her favorite rapper, along with Wiz Khalifa and Mac Miller," Leland budded in.

"Really?" I asked.

"Yeah," she said. I smiled and took her hand. She liked the same rappers I did.

"Sweet," I said. She looked at me with that smile that makes you want to just grab her face in your hands and kiss her.

"Well, we should get going," she said.

"Yes, we should," I said with a smile.

"Where you guys going?" Leland asked.

"The mall," she answered.

"Okay. Cameron, just warning you. She wants everything she sees," he joked.

"I do not!"

"Yeah, you kinda do," he said with a laugh. She couldn't help herself. She had to smile.

"Well, we'll be back to visit later, bud."

"Kay, Kenz. See you later. Bye, Cameron."

"Bye, kiddo."

We got in the car and drove to the mall. We parked at the bottom of the parking garage and walked in by JC Penny.

McKenzie's POV

It was nice to be home for a little bit, especially with Cameron being there with me. We walked into Journey's, one of my favorite shoe stores. My cousin was at the counter. I forgot she worked there.

"Hey, Jess. How's life?"

"Kenz! Hey! It's good. Hanging in there." She looked at Cameron. "Well, who's this?" she asked.

"This is my boyfriend Cameron. Cameron, this is my cousin Jess."

"Nice to meet you," he said, shaking her hand.

"You, too. You know, you look oddly familiar. Have we met before?"

"Uhhmm, no, I don't think so," he said, a bit confused.

"WAIT! He's in that band you like isn't he?" she asked me.

"Yeah," I said, letting out a little laugh. Cameron's confusion vanished.

"I don't know what possessed me to not recognize you right away. Allstar Weekend is all she ever talks about," Jess told him. I blushed as Cam looked at me with a smile. "So, what are you guys looking for today?" she asked.

"Converses," I answered.

"That's my girl," Cameron whispered in my ear. I smiled. Jess led us to the converse and I picked out a pair of black ones. I took them up to the counter where Jess was waiting for me. Cam quickly pulled out his wallet, digging through it for his money. I put my hand on his arm, gently pulling it away.

"No, Cam. I got it."

"I didn't get to buy you anything yet. At least let me pay for these shoes."

"Seriously, you don't need to do that for me," I said. He looked at me with a loving expression.

"Save your money for tour, babe." He then gave the puppy dog face. I couldn't help but smile.

"Okay," I said, and he handed Jess his money. She bagged the shoes and handed them to me. We walked out of the store, hands joined, and headed towards the food court. "Thank you," I said to him. He smiled.

"Anything for the most beautiful girl in the world." I looked up at him and smiled widely at those words. I one-arm hugged him and he put his arm around me as we walked.

Just as we rounded the corner and were about to get in line for pretzels, I froze in my tracks. Cameron realized I stopped and did so with confusion. There, sitting at a table, was a person I had absolutely no intentions of running into. Todd.
