He Could Be the One

Zack’s POV
“Zacky wakey, wakey!” said a little girl’s voice
I groaned.
“Zacky come on, wake up!”
I slowly opened my eyes and saw a familiar little girl standing in front of me. I rubbed my eyes to see the little girl more clearly but instead found the now older version of her looking at me with her hands on her hips.
“You ok Zack?”
I blushed and nodded at Sevie. “Uh yea.”
“Oh ok, well that’s nice.”
Suddenly out of nowhere, she landed a good hard punch on my shoulder.
“What the fuck was that for Sev?!”
“For not listening to me and for leaving me alone when I clearly said I wanted to cuddle with my best friend.”
I sighed as I rubbed my shoulder. “I’m sorry.”
“Oh no, you’re not getting out of this that easily Zachary Steven Merrick.”
I groaned. “Are you seriously fucking punishing me?”
She smiled and nodded. “Oh relax; it’s not gonna be anything bad.”
“That coming from you just terrifies me.”
“Good, it should.”
I chuckled. “So what do you have in mind as my punishment?”
“Show me around L.A.”
“What?”
“Just show me around. I’ve never really explored around here before. This is my 3rd time here, remember?”
I nodded. “That’s right. Alright I’ll show you around then.”
“Yay, let me just go take a shower real quick.”
Sevie grabbed her suitcase and dashed back to my room. I couldn’t help but chuckle a bit after she was gone. She seriously hasn’t changed one bit. She’s still that same cute little girl from down the street. Once I heard the water running, I crept into my room and grabbed a change of clothes. I quickly changed into them and headed back out right when the water had stopped. I fixed my hair in front of the small hallway mirror and put my shows on in the living room. Just as I was tying them, I heard footsteps make their way into the living room.
“So how do I look?”
I looked up away from my shoes and saw Sevie standing just a few feet away from me. “You look amazing…”
She giggled. “Awh thanks, you don’t look too bad yourself.”
I smiled. “Thanks.”
“So where are we going first?”
I shrugged as I stood up from the couch. “Beats me; let’s just sight see for now and if something catches our attention, we’ll check it out.”
Sevie nodded. “Alright then. You ready?”
I nodded when suddenly Sevie’s phone rang. She pulled it out of her pocket and looked at the screen.
“Everything ok?”
She hung up on whoever it was and slipped her phone back into her pocket. “Yea.”
Sevie then made her way out the door with me close behind. That was odd…
Jack’s POV
After thinking long and hard about calling Sevie, I dialed away on my phone.
“Hello?”
“Hey Nash.”
“Barakat, long time no talk. How are ya bud? I heard about what happened with Alex and Rian.”
“How?”
“From Sophie. Flyzik told her and she ended up telling all of us.”
“Wait so Sevie knows?"
“Yea.”
“Is she there? Can I talk to her? I tried calling her cell phone but it just went straight to voicemail.”
Nash sighed. “She’s not here.”
“Oh is she out then?”
“Something like that.”
“What are you hiding Nash?”
“Nothing.”
“You’re lying.”
“I’m not.”
“Yes you are!”
“Ok seriously dude, did you call just to yell at me?”
I sighed. “No I didn’t, sorry.”
“Is something the matter?”
“I don’t know.”
“Dude talk to me, we’re friends. What’s bugging you?”
Might as well just tell him… “Rian and I bumped into Jonathan Cook and Caleb Turman today.”
“U-uh…”
“I take it you know where I’m getting at?”
He sighed. “You found out then, about Sevie and Jonathan?”
“Yea, why didn’t you guys tell us?”
“Dude think about it, who are you friends with?”
“Heh that’s what Rian kinda said too. So you guys didn’t tell us cause of Alex?”
“Well yea man. We didn’t wanna lie to ya’ll but seeing how much of douche Alex is , we had no choice in the matter.”
“I understand.”
“Look I’ll be honest with you right now, Sevie’s in California visiting Zack.”
“She is?”
“Yea. Jonathan doesn’t know so don’t tell him.”
“Why would I?”
“Oh right, never mind then.”
“Does Jonathan know about Alex?”
“In a way. We all keep referring him as Lexi when he’s around. I don’t think he knows at all. Did he say something to you?”
I shook my head. “No he didn’t but he did bring up Sevie.”
“Ah I see and that’s why you called.”
“Basically.”
“I gotcha.”
“Yea….”
“Look I gotta go. I’m looking after Gabe and it’s not going to well.”
I chuckled. “He’s always been a demon.”
Nash laughed. “Yea thanks to you douchebag. You taught him all this shit.”
Out of nowhere I heard plates crash from the other line.
“No Gabe! Later Jack.”
I smiled. “Later.”
I hung up and placed my phone back into my pocket. Well that clears that shit up…a bit I guess. I should’ve just believed Rian on all this. I looked at my watch and saw that it was around 8pm. I grabbed my jacket and headed out my hotel room to a nearby bar I had seen on my way back with Rian. Couple of shots should clear my mind.
Sevie’s POV
So far the day with Zack has been awesome. It’s just like the good old days back in Towson when we hung out at arcades and on Thames street acting like complete fools.
“Mmmm man it’s been so long since I’ve had a good slice of pizza.”
Zack chuckled. “You and me both.”
“That’s because you’re fucking health conscience as hell dude. You work out 24/7.”
“No I don’t.”
“Bull shit mister.”
“Well don’t you have quite the potty fucking mouth.”
I giggled. “Quiet you.”
He smiled. “So do you like California so far?”
I nodded. “Yes! There’s like so much to do here. Its loads of fun, now I understand why you moved out here now.”
Suddenly out of nowhere, we heard giggles coming from nearby. I turned to see where they were coming from and can in eye contact with 2 teenage girls, both wearing a ‘Hustler’ bracelet. They got up from their table and made their way over to ours.
“Don’t look now but I think you have company.” I whispered to Zack.
He looked at me a bit confused until he saw the girls right next to him.
“Oh my gosh you’re Zack Merrick. Can we have your autograph and a picture?”
Zack smiled at both girls and stood up from his seat. “Yea.”
He posed for pictures with both girls as I sat there eating away at my slice of saucy goodness.
“IS she your girlfriend?”
I looked up from my pizza at one of the girls. “Actually I’m his best friend. Name’s Sevie.”
“Sevie, I think I’ve heard your name before but I can’t remember where.”
“Ah well that’s a bummer.” I smiled.
“You ready to go Sev?” Zack asked.
“Uh yea, you?”
He nodded. I looked at both girls and smiled. “Well if you’ll excuse yes little people, we must be leaving.”
One of the girls held on to Zack tightly. “Awh Zack come hang out with us. We’ll show you an awesome time.”
He smiled at them again and pulled away from her clutches. “I can’t. My friend is only here for a while and I want to hangout with her as much as possible.”

“It sounds like you love her.”
I looked at Zack and awaited his answer.
“Well yea I love her; she’s my best friend after all.”
I couldn’t help but smile. After finally being able to get away from the two girls, Zack and I headed to one of his favorite bars.
“That was fucking awkward.”
I giggled. “You’re telling me, I had to stand there and watch.”
“You could’ve just walked away you know.”
“Right, and leave you to get eaten alive? No way.”
Zack just laughed.
“Hey Zack?”
He cleared his throat and nodded. “What is it?”
“That was really sweet what you said back there.”
We both stopped in front of the bar.
“What are you talking about?”
“You know, when you said you loved me. I don’t think you’ve ever said that to me or about me in all these years that we’ve been friends.”
He blushed. “I said that?”
I giggled and poked his cheek. “Yup.”
I then stood up on my tip toes and kissed him on the cheek. “I love you too bestest buddy!”
His blush remained as he smiled and rubbed his cheek. “Thanks.”
After returning his smile, we both made our way into the bar.
