Flashbacks

September 2008

It was the last day of summer break, school starts tomorrow. Sophomore year, we'll be halfway through high school by the end of this semester. I pulled up in front of the Gilbert residence, I was excited. I jumped out of the car and knocked on the door

"Hi, Savannah," Elena's father, Grayson Gilbert, answered the door

"Hi, Mr. Gilbert. I just got my license!" I said happily,

"Uh oh," He said as he let me in, "And you and Elena are going joy riding, I assume?"

"We're gonna go to Matt's and figuring out some plans for the day. I'll be careful, I promise"

"Good to hear," Grayson then yelled up the stairs, "Elena, Savannah's here!"

Seconds later, Elena came down the steps. Tote bag in hand.

"Hi dad, bye dad," Elena said, trying to get out of the house as quick as possible

"Hold on," her dad stopped her, "Be safe?"

"Always, dad," Elena gave him a hug as her younger brother walked into the room

"Hey, cutie," I said to him. Jeremy was 2 years younger than us, I thought he was just adorable

"Hey, Savannah,"

"Oh, god" Elena rolled her eyes, "Bye Jeremy,"

Elena pulled me along and we went outside to my car

"I love it!" Elena said as we got in

"Me too!" I said as we drove to Matt's, "I can't believe my dad actually let me pick any car I wanted"

We arrived at Matt's house and his older sister Vicki answered the door

"Hey, Vick," I said to her

"Hey girls, Matt & Tyler are in the family room," she said as she let us in just as she was on her way out

"Boys," Elena said, catching both Tyler & Matt's attention. I took the x-box controller out of Tyler's hand and took a seat on his lap. Followed by a kiss.

"Oh, god, get a room," Matt groaned, "Always too much PDA with you two,"

"Anyway," I said, "It's the last day of summer vacation. I have a car, what are the four of us doing today?"

"Ya know, Virginia Beach isn't that far away," Matt suggested

"Lets go then!" Elena said

We all piled into my car, a day at the beach sounded perfect. I drove and Tyler sat in the passengers seat, with Elena and Matt in the back. When we got to Virgina Beach, we wasted no time. Luckily, me and Elena already had our swimsuits on underneath our clothes

"I wanna go first Tyler!" I said

"Fine," He said, helping me onto the jet ski, "But don't kill me,"

Tyler hopped on the back and held onto my hips, "Don't worry about it. I got this,"

I took off and Tyler started screaming. Needless to say, I didn't kill him. But we sure as hell flipped off it. Good thing we weren't too far out.

"That's it!" Tyler said, "I'm driving,"

He got back on the jet ski then pulled me on too. I held onto him as he took off. He was way better at this than I was, for sure. The next day was the first day of Sophomore year. I said bye to my brother Justin and sister Rachel, who went to Mystic Falls Jr. High. I arrived at school with Elena, we took my car of course. Tyler, in his brand new car, parked right next to me. He had Matt in the car with him.

We got out of our cars and started walking to campus, Tyler slung his arm around me

"I think its funny, we have the two best cars in this lot, including the teachers," Tyler said

"How lucky are we?" I said

Of course, we were both from the two richest families in Mystic Falls. I was the head cheerleader and Tyler was the star quarterback of the football team. We were, without a doubt, the most popular couple in the whole school.

"Hey, girl!" Caroline said as she hugged me, "Tyler," She rolled her eyes

"Nice to see you too, Forbes," Tyler rolled his eyes as well, Bonnie gave me and Elena hugs and we all walked into school together. We headed to the office to get our class schedules for the year.

"Look at that, we have almost every single class together," I told Tyler

"That has bad idea written all over it," Elena said, "Come on, Matt," they laughed and walked away

"Hi, Savannah!" I looked and saw a pathetic little freshman

"Do I know you?" I asked, with a slight laugh

"No, but-"

"Get lost loser before I break your face!" Tyler said, scaring the kid away

"Nice move, Ty. Real nice,"

"Come on!" Caroline said, pulling me away, "Cheerleading!"

A week later, the Timberwolves had their first football game of the season. Us cheerleaders were stretching before the game when Tyler walked over to me. Pulling me away from everyone else.

"I win tonight, you spend the night at my house. My parents are out of town," Tyler told me

"And what if you lose?" I said, wrapping my arms around his neck

"Well," Tyler's hands went to my lower back, "I doubt that's happening,"

"And if it does?"

"Okay, if we lose, you can make me feel better,"

I laughed at him, "Deal" he gave me a kiss before Caroline interrupted us

"Come on guys, smile, yearbook picture!" She had a camera in hand. Besides being a cheerleader, she was also head of the yearbook committee. Caroline Forbes was a Jack of all trades, or should I say Jill?

It was almost game time. Me, Bonnie, Caroline, and Elena came out cheering with the rest of the girls. Me and Elena saw our parents in the audience waving to us,

"I wonder how your parents are gonna take you staying at Ty's tonight," Elena said through her smile

"I'm sure they'll be thinking of a way to get rid of Justin and Rachel," I said through my own smile, causing us both to laugh

We were in History class on a Friday afternoon, sitting through Mr. Tanner's boring lecture. I had that class with Tyler, Elena, and Bonnie. My phone vibrated in my purse, I slightly reached down to grab it, not to be seen by Mr. Tanner.

"Parents are still gone. Party @ my house tonight, pass it around," It was a text from Tyler

I looked back at Tyler and grinned. Mr. Tanner had me and Tyler on other sides of the room, he apparently didn't want me 'distracting' his star player. I sent a text to Elena, Bonnie, and Caroline: Party @ Tyler's tonight :)
