Sweet Home Arizona.

Sixteen

I woke up sometime during the night, seeing Luke had still not returned home. I looked over at the clock and saw that it was already 10:00 in the evening. I didn’t realize I had slept so long but I really needed the rest I got. I hadn’t had a good nights rest in the past month. All the worry about the wedding, John, and Luke kept me up at night. I grabbed my crutches off the floor and slowly made my way into the kitchen. I then remembered that Luke’s bachelor party was tonight. I had no idea where he was going or who he was going with. I guess it was with his friends or somebody. I wasn’t really that worried about he was honestly. Like I’m not saying that in a mean or bitchy way, but I trusted where he was. I knew he wouldn’t do me like I did him. After getting a drink and something to eat, I decided just to go back to bed. I mean there wasn’t anything on the TV and there was nothing to do. Plus i really needed all the sleep I could get. I slowly made my way back to my bedroom and back into the bed. Hopefully the night would fly by and I wouldn’t wake up at 3 in the morning wide awake!

John’s POV.
“Ladies and Gentlemen we have reached our destination of New York City. It is a balmy 29 degrees with snow flurries. I hope you enjoyed your flight and thank you for choosing Southwest Airlines.”
I slowly got out of my seat and reached into the overhead compartment for my backpack. It was 3:21 in the morning. I know what you're asking! He left the airport at 11:00 in the morning and it took him 16 hours to get to his destination. Well we got held up in Oklahoma due to a snow storm and when we finally got cleared to go it was already 10:16 at night. I think this flight has been the worst one of my life.
“You my friend are a jinx!” I looked over at Pat and rolled my eyes.
While we were freezing our asses off in Oklahoma, all the guys were saying all of this was my fault. It was my fault because I wasn’t even supposed to be going to this wedding and it was a bad sign. What the fuck ever! It was not my fault that none of the guys watched the weather channel before we left or that it became a blizzard in Oklahoma City.
“So Mr. Jinx, did you find us a place to stay for the night or are we going to a homeless shelter.” I flipped Garrett off and continued walking through the airport. We had just gotten our baggage and now it was time to get the hell out of here.
“I made reservations at the Plaza Hotel for 4 nights.” They all looked at me with a confused look.
“Why four nights; we are only staying 2.”
“I know why he booked four nights. He thinks that if Mason agrees to get back with him that he’ll have a room ready for sex. Dude, do you honestly think she is going to accept you back. I know you guys were so in love but you wronged her by doing the things you did. Mason isn’t the type of girl to go back to someone that cheated on them especially after their daughter just passed away.”
“John, I love you and Mason being together but I think she should stay with Luke. Why can’t you just move on and go find someone else? You are one of the hottest guys in Arizona and you’re in band, girls love that shit. I’m sure any of those girls out in the audience would love to be the next Mrs. John O’Callaghan.”
“Whenever you guys find someone you can’t live without you will understand what i’m going through. Mason has been my soulmate since the very first day I met her.”
“So have you all seen the new girl in Mcdonald’s class? Oh my goodness, she is hot!” I rolled my eyes as Halvo kept going on about some girl. knowing that boys taste in girls, she was probably some made up whore.
“And let me guess she has an STD already?”
“Shut the fuck up John. I’m freaking serious, this girl is mind blowing. She isn’t like the other girls that I fall for. She’s actually pretty normal looking.”
I grabbed my history book out of my locker and turned my attention back to Halvo. “So do you even know this girl’s name?”
“No but who cares what her name is.” He started grinning.
“Dude you are a 14 year old dog. This mystery girl probably already has a boyfriend in the upper grades and won’t be interested in some 8th grade jerk.”
“Okay John Ohh, why don’t you go check her out for yourself and see if she has a boyfriend.”
“I haven’t even seen this girl Eric. How am I supposed to know which girl she is?”
“Oh trust me, you’ll know.” I rolled my eyes again and walked away from him.
I made my way to Mr. Hinkle’s class and walked over to my desk. I could hear the little whispers coming from the “popular” crowd talking about this so-called new girl.
“Hey John Ohh.” I turned around and saw Haley.
Haley was the leader of the popular crowd. She didn’t care about other people’s feeling or anything that person would care about. It was all about her and that’s the way she liked it. I had to admit, I liked the girl. She was insanely hot and would be up to do anything.
“Hey Haley, what’s up?” She was looking extremely hot today.
“Nothing much. Have you seen the new girl? Like oh my god, she does not belong here.” I couldn’t help but laugh as Haley kept going on about the girl. The way Haley was describing her made the girl seem like she was Frankenstein's bride or something. I kind of dreaded seeing this girl to be honest. Like don’t get me wrong but our school probably had the best looking students in the state. She would ruin our reputation for sure!
“So do you want to come to my house Saturday; we can swim or something.” She ran her hand up my arm and gave me a seductive smile. This girl was only 13 and she knew how to work a guy over the edge!
“S-sure th-thi-, sure thing.”
“Okay.” She walked back over to her clique but not without looking back at me seductively.
“Class, I need you all to settle down and find your seats.” The whole class slowly did as the teacher said. “Okay now that you’re all settled down, I would like to introduce someone to you. Class we have a new student joining us today. I want you all to meet Ms. Mason King.” Mr. Hinkle moved out of the way and there she was. I never in a million years thought I would actually say this but Halvo was right for once. Everything that Haley had just said was thrown out the window. This girl was absolutely breathtaking!
“Mason would you like to tell us a little about yourself?” She nervously looked at the teacher and then back at the class. “Don’t shy.”
“Well what do you want to know?” Mr. Hinkle let out a laugh.
“Where did you transfer from?”
“Aspen, Colorado.”
“What’s your favorite thing to do?”
“Well I like listening to music and hanging out with my sisters.” I could hear Haley and her little crowd whispering again.
“Does anyone have a question for Mason?” I wanted to ask her every question under the sun but I decided to wait till after class. “Okay, well how about you take a seat in front of Mr. O’Callaghan and also here is your history book.” She thanked Mr. Hinkle and slowly made her way towards me. I couldn’t help but stare at her as she sat down in front of me. Her hair was a beautiful shade of Brown. She smelled like a mixture of Lilac and Vanilla. And the way she dressed showed that she wasn’t a whore in anyway. I needed to get to know this girl!
As soon as the bell rang for 5th period, I quickly walked up to Mason.
“Hey.” She turned around and gave me a shy smile.
“Hi.” She continued walking to wherever she was going. Come on John, you need to get this girl to like you!
“How are you doing?” She cracked a smile and stopped in front of what I guess was her locker.
“I’m doing fine. How are you?”
“I’m doing good. So, uh how are you liking Arizona so far?”
“It’s hot.”
“Yeah it is pretty hot. So do you want to come to a party tonight?” She looked at me and started giggling.
“I just moved here and I need to help my parents finish unpacking. But thanks for the invite John.” She knew my name!
“Well hopefully we can hang out sometime. You seem like a really cool girl to be around.”
“And you seem like a cool guy to be around as well John.” Oh my gosh, I loved it when she said my name. It was like it just came natural to her to say my name. “I’ll see you later.”
“Okay, see ya later.”
I watched as she walked away from me. I knew from the day on I was going to marry that girl and live happily ever after.

“John we heard that story five thousand times. Listen, i’m sorry that it didn’t work out for you and Mason the first time but what makes you think it’s going to officially work out this time?”
“I just know that it will. My gut is telling me that this plan will work out for once and I for sure know it will. I’m just tired of everyone telling me it won’t work out.” The guys all looked at the ground.
“John we aren’t saying that it won’t work out, but we don’t want to see you hurt again. We say what you went through when she first left and then we saw what happened when she left a few weeks ago. It kills you John and we hate to see you like that.” I pulled a cigarette out and lit it up.
“Let’s just go to the hotel and sleep.” That’s what I really needed right now.
