Personal Soldier
And if your battles are piling on I will take them on with all my might...
3 months later.
Wakening up I smiled at the sun shining through the window. It'd been 3 months since I moved back to Glasgow. I missed Jess and Karen like mad and I thought of how they were everyday but this was a new start for me, a clean slate. Time for me to sort out my life! So far It'd been great. I'd become so close to my family again! I'd made friends, I'd even started applying for jobs! My phone started buzzing against the wood of my bedside table.
Stretching over I checked to see who was calling.
*Unknown number*
I hated answering unknown calls. I don't know why but every time one flashed up I always secretly hoped it'd be Nathan calling to tell me how stupid I'd been for moving away and telling me how much he missed me....It never was.
Taking in a deep breath I answered it.
"Hello?" I said wearily
"Hello is this Lucie Jackson?" a male voice spoke on the other end of the line
"It is..."
"Hello! This is Matt. I'm phoning you to congratulate you on making our team" he laughed.
A huge grin spread across my face as the panic faded. If this guy was stood in front of me I'd have dived on him!
"Oh God! Are you serious?" I laughed
"Yeap, deadly. I'll be looking forward to meeting you Miss Jackson. You start Monday 7am sharp!"
"Thank you so much!" I smiled. The phone disconnecting.
Jumping out of bed I shoved on a jumper and bounded down the stairs screaming.
By the time I reached the bottom of the stairs Dad was stood in the hallway, a worried look plastered all over his face.
"What's happened? Are you okay!? Is it a spider?" he questioned
"Dad!!" I screeched.
"Lucie?" he laughed.
"I got the job. I got THEEEE job!!" I beamed, dancing around on the step.
His face dropped into a less worried, not amused face, only to be replaced two seconds later by a look of pride.
"I told you! I'm so proud of you Luce" he smiled. "When do you start?"
"Monday. 7am sharp." I said imitating Matt's voice.
"Well how about we go buy you a new dress for making your old father so proud?" Dad smiled.
I really had missed him. He had always been my best friend growing up. I was an outcast at school up here and it wasn't til I moved to Gloucester that I actually made friends. Dad had always stuck up for me. It was hard leaving him but I knew Mum needed my help more than Dad and that even though I wasn't there Dad always knew I loved him.
"Dad?" I looked at him worryingly. "Are you okay? Did you just offer to go shopping?" I smirked.
"Cheeky cow!" he laughed as he grabbed the car keys. "You've got 10 minutes to get ready for your cheek!" he smiled as I ran up the stairs to get changed.
