I Don't Believe in Fairytales

Lies and Ice Cream

For the past few days I haven't seen or spoken much to Matt because he spends every mintue in that office of his. The days that we spent apart gave me some time to think about what Brian had told and to get my thoughts together. I really want to believe Matt because he has been nothing but nice to me yet my gut is telling me to take Brian's words into consideration.

I haven't seen much of Brian either which is what Matt probably wants because he wasn't too fond of Brian talking to me the other day. Honestly, I only want to gain my memory back so all of tis confusion and frustration can just go away. I have remembered some of my memory, but it is very faint and blurry like childhood memories of when I was a kid.

My thoughts were cut short by my attention turning towards the person who had sat down next to me on the couch. I moved my head to the right of me to see the only girl in the house besides me which I learned her name, a few days prior, is Pamela. She seated herself down on the couch next to me while sending me a friendly smile that I returned.

"Hey, Trinity," she said.

"Hey, Pamela, where's Jimmy?" I asked curiously, "You guys are always joined at the hip."

A slight blush spread across her cheeks, "He's out on business with Ven- Zack."

My eyebrows scrunched up in confusion, "Why did you start to say another name?"

"Oh, it's nothing, just a nickname that we sometimes call Zacky," she explained nonchalantly.

I nodded my head excepting her answer, but believed in the back of my mind that something was not right. It felt like I couldn't believe Pamela either because I didn't know what was right or wrong anymore since I can't remember anything.

"Where's Matt? You two couldn't keep your hands off of each other when you first got here," she said smirking at me.

"That's something I kind of want to ask you," I said, wondering if she could answer some of my questions and erase my confusion.

"Sure," she said, "Ask away."

"The day I got here Brian had told me not to believe anything that Matt says and he also told me that Matt had lied to me. Why do you think he would say that?"

She hesitated a bit before answering, "I don't know. Did you ask Matt?"

I shook my head at her question, but I think she knew more then she let on. I mentally shrugged thinking that if I want answers then I could only go to the person who planted the confusion in my mind.

"I think I am going to go ask him now," I said, standing up from the couch.

"Okay," she said turning her attention towards the televison as I walked out of the living room.

I made my way past the kitchen and towards the back of the house where I have seen Matt go dozen of times these past days. Walking down the narrow hallway I stepped in front of the only closed door knowing he was inside. Without knocking, I opened the door and entered inside of the room.

My green eyes gazed upon Matt's figure that was sitting down in front of a wooden desk while he talked on the phone. He looked up at me his hazel eyes swimming with confusion. I walked closer towards the desk and sat down on the chair in front of him waiting until he was done talking on the phone.

"I'm sorry, Corey, but I need to go now," he said into the phone before hanging it up.

"Trinity, what do you need?" He asked, sounding a little aggravated.

"I want to know the truth, Matt," I said, cutting straight to the chase.

His face etched in confusion matching the look in his eyes, "What?"

"Brian had told me that you had lied to me and honestly I am starting to believe him," I said, watching as the anger boiled up inside of him.

"Why would you believe anything that he says? He was the one who punched me in the face."

"He punched you because you lied to me and I think it makes sense, Matt," I argued.

He let out a sigh before running a hand through his short hair, "Okay, I did lie to you, Trinity, but I only did it to protect you."

Now the confusion was etched on my facial expression, "What do you mean?"

"What the guys and I do is very dangerous work and I didn't want you to know because I don't want you to think differently of me," he explained, "And I don't want you to get hurt because of me then I won't ever forgive myself."

A small smile adorned my lips as his words warmed my heart, "You could have just told me, Matt,"

"I know and I should have, but just know that there are some things I can't tell you, Trinity, okay?"

"Okay," I reluctantly agreed.

His answer might have solved one question of mine, but I have a feeling there is more to this then anyone is willing to tell me.

"Are we good now?" He asked, getting up from his and walking around the desk towards me.

I nodded my head, "Yeah we're good"

"Good, how about we go out for some ice cream?" He questioned, grabbing my hand and pulling me up from my sitting position on the chair.

"Yes!" I exclaimed, smiling at the thought of ice cream.

"Okay let's go," he said smiling his dimpled smile and lacing our fingers together.

We exited out of his office and made our way towards the front door. I waved bye to Pamela who was still in the living room watching t.v. and she waved back before we stepped out of the house. Matt led me to his silver Dodge Charger where he opened the passnger door for me. I got into the car as Matt went around to the driver's side before getting in and starting up the car.

My arm reached out towards the knob for the radio as I changed the station until I found a song that I liked. I continued to switch from station to station, but I couldn't find any good songs.

I huffed in frustration, "These radio stations suck."

"Do you want to hear the CD that me and guys made when we were in a band?" Matt asked.

"Yes!" I shouted, making Matt jump a little which caused me to giggle.

His arm reached out into the glove compartment where he took out a white CD with the same symbol on the cover of it that was tattooed on my hip. He slid in the CD and pressed the skip button until he reached track ten.

"This is my favorite song it's called Dear God."

The music filled the car as Matt turned up the volume. I silently listened to the lyrics of the song feeling a smile grow on my lips. My fingers tapped on my thigh to the beat of the music. As the song was ending I looked over at Matt to see a ghost of a smile on his face.

"Who was the singer?" I asked, wondering which one of the guys had such a beautiful voice.

"I was," Matt said, not tearing his gaze away from the road.

"It was such a beautiful song and your voice is beyond amazing, Matt. Why did you guys stop making music?"

He shrugged his broad shoulders, "Honestly, I don't know, but sometimes we still do play a few songs if we have the time."

The car filled with silence as I fell into deep thought. My mind wandered to the lyrics of the song thinking that they were just so beautiful. I also wondered if the song was about anyone in particular because the song is asking for God to protect a loved one. Deep down I kind of wished that the song was about me and I wanted Matt to personally sing that song for me.

I shook that thought from head when I felt the car stop and saw that we were at the beach. Once Matt parked the car, I got out of the car and went over to Matt's side where he attached our hand together and started to walk towards the small ice cream shop.

"What kind of ice cream do you want?" Matt asked when we got into line.

"Cookies n' cream," I said, licking my lips in anticipation of the ice cream.

Matt ordered our ice creams and I wrinkled my nose in digust when he ordered rocky road for himself.

"Rocky road is way bettter then cookies n' cream," he said once we got our ice cream.

I scoffed before taking a lick of my delicious treat, "In your dreams, Mattie."

A huge smile brightened his face and his dimples dented his cheeks, "I love it when you call me Mattie."

"Don't get off topic, Matt, we are discussing a very important topic," I said causing him laugh.

"Of course we are and all I have to say is rocky road is the best ice cream ever," he said, licking his ice cream, "Discussion closed."

"No, cookies n' cream is the best ice cream ever," I argued, "Now the discussion is closed."

"Okay, cookie queen."

"I like the sound of that," I said, taking a bit of one of the oreo cookies, "I am the queen of the cookies, but only oero cookies the rest suck."

"Of course, oero cookie queen," he said making us both laugh.

We walked hand in hand down to the beach while still eating our ice cream. I pulled Matt down to the floor of the sand where we sat down beside the shoreline. The sight before our eyes was gorgeous with the setting sun and the crashing waves.

"Isn't is beautiful?" I asked, looking up at Matt.

His hazel irises melted into my green orbs, "Not as beautiful as you are."

A blush spread across my face making me look down at my ice cream. I continued to eat my sweet dessert until I felt one of Matt's fingers descend underneath my chin and move my face up towards his. At first I thought he was going to kiss me, but he surprised me by smearing his rocky road ice cream on my nose and cheek.

A gasp escaped from my lips because of the cold ice cream on my face. Matt moved his face down towards mine and he licked the ice cream off of my nose and cheek before speading kisses all over my skin.

"I told you rocky road was the best ice cream," he said, hovering his lips above mine before closing the gap between us.

He was right, I thought, rocky road was the best ice cream.
