If Love Is Sweet, What Is This, Draco Malfoy?

Exploring

“Do you think that was a clever thing to do, Miss Mist?” Snape spat in my face
“No sir” I said, looking down at the table I had now dissolved using beetle juice and a little polyjuice potion.
“Then why did you do it?” he asked, and I looked him in the eye
“Because I wasn’t aware we weren’t supposed to sir” I said stubbornly. He glared at me. Even though I was in his house, he didn’t like looking like a fool.
“10 points off Slytherin, and stay behind at break time and clean this mess up. Then get me a new table” he said, as the bell rang. Everyone filed out of the classroom save the slow Hufflepuffs and Draco who was still working on his potion. And the ever annoying Potter, of course. Snape had kept him behind for just being on Gryffindor and sucking at Potions I suppose. I kept trying to get my potion to go right but I suppose it wasn’t my day “Very good job Mr. Malfoy. 20 points for Slytherin” Snape said, congratulating Draco “You may go now, if you wish” He said, before coming towards me. I sighed quietly and concentrated on my potions “Miss Mist” Snape hissed in my ear. I clenched my wand tightly for a while
“Yes… sir?” I asked, not looking at him
“Have you perfected your potion yet?” he asked, and I shook my head. He only picked on me because I wasn’t good in potions and showed him cheek. Snape sighed, before snapping at Potter to hurry up and pack his stuff. The Hufflepuffs squealed when Snape yelled, and grabbed their stuff before running out. “Potter, move next to Mist, so that you two failures can work together and try to help each other’s hopeless cases. And that will also free up that table. Draco, you may leave” Snape said pointedly, and left the room. I sighed and gave up on the potion, before noticing Draco coming towards me. He had a vial of his potion in hand, and spilt a little into my cauldron.
“That should fix the worst of it” he said, and I smiled gratefully, noticing my potion turning the purple pink it should have turned an hour ago.
“Thanks” I said, and he nodded.
“Just keep stirring anti clockwise until the potion gets rid of the purple completely and it’s left with just pink, and then stir clockwise three times before anti clockwise again once” he told me, and I followed his instructions. Pretty soon, my potion turned a lilac white.
“Thanks” I said again, and he smiled quickly before putting a name tag on his potion and putting it on Snape’s table. I followed his example, and then cleared away my stuff. As I was putting back the last of the potions, I noticed Draco waiting at the doorway and not leaving. Going back to my table to pick up my bag, I noticed Potter’s potion had turned black now and was frothing uncontrollably.
“Just give up” I suggested sourly. He looked at me, shocked that I actually spoke to him
“But Snape-”
“Snape will take a few points off your house. Does it really matter? Nothing happens with house points. It’s pointless. Just leave it here. The most you’ll be risking is 10 points” I told him, and he looked thoughtful
“It’ll probably be 50 points. I’m a Gryffindor” he pointed out, and I rolled my eyes
“Fine” I muttered, walking towards the door and then noticing that Harry took my advice after I left. Draco closed the door and grinned at me, and I smiled back
“I thought we could go explore today Maia?” he asked, and I nodded. I was up for exploring, so we started walking to the parts of the school we’d never been to. We went up to the 6th floor first, and noticed it was abandoned. Even Mrs. Norris – Filches cat – didn’t come here. Draco and I walked side by side in silence, our footsteps echoing off the walls. “There doesn’t seem to be much here” he said, smoothing his hand over the wall then looking at it in disgust as he noticed that the dust caked on the walls were now on his hand. I smirked at his stupidity and looked around
“Yeah” I said, sighing. Save a few wall hangings and a window or so dotted here and there with metal bars blocking escape from windows, there really wasn’t much to the grey concrete hallway. We reached the end of the corridor to notice a flight of stairs in the left corner of the wall, but the first ten steps were missing. Like it had been broken off and the rest of the stairs were just hanging on midair. Draco and I looked at each other in confusion, before I reached up and placed my hand on the bottom stair to see if it would collapse. It held sturdy. Draco looked thoughtful, before picking me up all of a sudden by my waist and lifting me effortlessly
“Try and see if you can get your footing on it” he said, as I looked at him, stunned. My leg reached out reluctantly and landed on the stair, shortly followed by the other “Don’t worry, I’ll be here to catch you if you fall” he said, and disappeared under the stairs so that he could ready himself in case I fell. I climbed the last steps slowly, the walls seeming like they were closing in on me. My breathing became shallower as my mind played tricks on me, seeming like the walls were moving in on me. I couldn’t bear it anymore and ran right to the end, my hand clasping the door handle. It was tight near the door, and there was barely any space to breathe. I tried the handle but it wouldn’t open, and I exerted more force. Realising it wasn’t going to budge, I called Draco “Yeah?” he asked, sounding worried
“It’s ok, I’m fine. There’s a door at the end of the corridor. I can’t get it open. Should I come back?” I asked doubtfully
“No” I heard Draco grunt, as he what I imagined was pulling himself onto the stairs
“It’s really tight in here” I said, as he made his way towards me. He stopped a little way into the corridor, his bulky shoulders stopping him from getting any further. “I should have come out first. We can’t both get to the door at the same time. Hang on, I’ll slip past you, and you turn sideways then go towards the door ok?” I asked, and Draco nodded. I head towards him, and managed to turn sideways and get past him until I got stuck directly in front of him “Oh crap” I muttered, and he laughed.
“I could try and get us unstuck” he said, his hands coming towards me, and I tightened. A smirk played on the edge of Draco’s lips. “Just like old times” he whispered, noticing my body rigid. His hands were on my waist now, and his eyes slid up to my face, and I stared at him for a while before we both jumped, hearing a noise underneath us. Draco quickly pulled me so that I was on the free side, and he made his way towards the door, before trying to open it. It wouldn’t, so he tried smashing it with his hand. It still didn’t work
“Hang on” I said, pulling out my wand from my robes, and said a powerful unlocking charm. The door opened then, allowing Draco to twist the door open. He went through first, and then helped me to get through it to see an empty room. I sighed “Well that was a waste” I muttered, moving around the room to find something out of ordinary. Draco did the same but after fifteen minutes of searching for nothing in particular, we gave up. “We can still check out the 7th floor” I said thoughtfully, and Draco nodded before helping me back through the door and down the stairs. This whole wedding episode seemed to have made us closer somehow.

We got to the staircase leading to the 7th floor, and noticed how dusty it was. Even fewer people came up here rather than the 6th floor. We got to a big oak door, and opened it to find a similar corridor to the 6th floor, except this corridor had another room in it. We managed to open that door using the ‘Alohomara’ spell and went inside to find a room with a piano and a piano seat, and a large balcony. I opened the French doors leading to the balcony, and looked out at the breath taking view. The gentle breeze felt soothing on my face, and blew all of my troubles away so that I felt carefree and blissful. I felt even more indulged as I heard a soft piano noise wafting through the doors. I looked to my left to notice Draco wasn’t there, and turned around to find him playing the piano softly, and smiled.
“I didn’t know you could play the piano” I whispered, going back inside and shutting the doors
“You don’t know a lot about me” he shot back, smiling genuinely. I smiled. I sat down on the seat next to him, listening to him play the beautiful song. As it finished, the bell for lessons rang, and I sighed, being snapped out of my trance.
“I suppose we should go” I whispered, not wanting to disturb the tranquillity of the scene.
“We don’t have to. We have Hagrid next. He doesn’t know how to handle us” Draco said, smirking. I smirked back
“I suppose. But we’ll get behind on school work” I started, and Draco scoffed
“Since when did you care about school work?” he questioned, and I grinned
“Ok. But what can we do? It’s pretty boring without everyone else” I told him
“I know” he said, snapping his fingers “We can go to the forbidden forest” he said triumphantly. I stared at him for a while
“But it’s forbidden” I told him. He smirked
“That’s what makes it so inviting” Draco said, and I pulled at a different string
“Well what if we get caught?” I asked, and Draco’s eyes bore into mine
“Since when has Maia Mist ever cared about anything to do with school?” he asked slowly
“Since I realised that if I fail I end up with nothing!” I spat, getting up and turning away from him before folding my arms across my chest.

A few seconds later, I felt Draco’s hands clasp around my upper arms gently
“I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to upset you” he told me, and I smirked suddenly.
“Since when has Draco Malfoy become so caring?” I mimicked. He grinned
“Since I realised that’s the only way to win a girl over” he said dismissively, and I smiled “See? There’s that beautiful smile again” he said softly. I smirked
“You are so corny Draco Malfoy” I laughed, before walking out of the room, shortly followed by Draco.

We wandered around the school, trying to find a way to get to the forbidden forest without being seen but could not. Eventually, I sighed and gave up
“Let’s go raid the girl’s rooms and see what we find in there” Draco said boredly. I glared at him, and he smirked “Are you jealous baby?” he asked, and I rolled my eyes, before gaining a mischievous glance in them
“How about we raid the boy’s dorms instead?” I asked, and he looked worried, before masking it again quickly
“No I don’t think we should” he said doubtfully, and I smirked
“Afraid I’ll find your spare stash of condoms?” I laughed, and ran towards the boy’s dorms before he stopped me. I legged it up the stairs, and then found myself in the boy’s dorm corridor. I had never been in here before, weird as it was for a Slytherin girl not to, but I have to say it smelled like a dying cow. I looked around as I held my breath, pain running through me every time I had to take a quick breath. Draco caught up with me and guarded his room door. “Aaw, Drakie. Are you hiding something?” I teased, and he glared at me
“You’re not going in here” he spat. I smirked
“Why, have you never had a girl in there or something?” I asked rhetorically.
“I have. But it was for a certain purpose... of course… if you wanted to… you could always go in” he smirked, and I rolled my eyes before pushing him out of the way and going in. I looked around and he looked at me nervously.
“What?” I asked him, and he averted his gaze. “You didn’t want me in here for another reason didn’t you?” I asked, reading his mind. He pressed his lips together before looking at me guiltily.
“I didn’t know if you’d approve of it” he said in a small voice, and I smiled.
“Of course I do Draco. I mean for a guy, your room is much cleaner than most” I said, moving around his room slowly. “Of course… that might be because of you buying an elf in school” I joked, and he smiled genuinely. I opened his drawer and sighed, picking up the box “How many then?” I asked boredly. He looked apologetic
“Packets or individuals?” he asked.
“Packets I suppose. The number will be less harsh” I told him. He walked around his room, pulling out stacks and boxes and any other form condoms came in from every single part of his bedroom where he could hide them. He checked under the mattress first and then pulled a few individuals out from his pillow, before emptying his drawer which consisted mainly of condoms. Draco then pulled out hundreds of shoe boxes from underneath his bed, all filled with them, and then went into his clothes drawer which was lined mainly with condoms. He then pulled out individuals from the space underneath his cupboard and his floorboards, and then brought a whole load from his bathroom before adding to the high pile that was already stacking high on his bed. Draco even pulled his clock away from the wall to have condoms shower down onto the floor, and then threw them all onto the bed.
“There. I think that’s all of it… wait…” he said, before pulling out a couple from inside his robes. I stared at him, blinking and silent.
“You carry around… 2 3 4… FIVE condoms?? Why, do you get laid like five times a day?” I asked, and he looked peeved
“Some could get damaged. If I get a girl pregnant… let’s just stay I’ll go from being a rich snob to just a snob with parents that have disowned me” he told me, and I grinned
“I’d like to see that. Going from owning 30 odd houses just in the UK to owning a box at the flick of a wand” I said, and he looked serious
“Don’t even joke” he said, and that made me laugh more.
“So how many is all of this?” I asked, waving my hand over the large stack of assorted condoms. Draco shrugged “Strawberry flavoured? Draco that’s just nasty” I said, wrinkling my nose as I saw a box of flavoured condoms.
“Why, do girls not like strawberries?” he smirked
“Yeah just not on a guy’s d*ck!” I exclaimed. Draco smirked
“That’s what you think” he replied
Let’s go to someone else’s room” I said, getting up.
“Why, does being in my room intimidate you?” he whispered, pushing me down onto the bed and leaning over me, my back on the pile of condoms. I pushed him away and got up
“EW! That was gross Draco!” I said, motioning towards the condoms, but let it go and walked out of the room with him as he smirked.
“Where do you want to go now?” he asked, looking through the numbers on the doors. I thought about it for a second
“It’s boring looking through dorms in your own house” I decided. “Let’s go sneak into a different house… I know! Let’s sneak into Potter’s room!” I said excitedly. The mischievous glint in Draco’s eye matched mine.

We both ran to the Gryffindor corridor, and then was about to turn the corner to go into the common room before stopping in front of the painting.
“How are we going to find out the password?” Draco asked. My shoulders slumped
“I didn’t think that far ahead” I sighed, before being pulled into a small cut in-between the walls that was so small that I was pressed up against Draco so that every single part of us touched. I was about to gasp but Draco’s hand was covering my mouth. I felt confused before hearing ‘Godric Gryffindor’ being said by a female voice. Leaning around the edge, I saw the brunette, frizzy haired nerd that was known by the name Hermione – Harry’s second closest friend. Such a stupid, cheesy password I thought. Draco held a finger to his lips and waited until the portrait swung closed again, before pulling me out of the slit and taking a deep breath as our breath was constricted in there.
“Did you move up a size or something? I could barely breathe in there!” Draco said, nodding towards my chest. I glared at him
“Three sizes over the summer actually. But it’s nice to know you notice me before I’m thrown against you” I spat, and Draco smirked
“Aaw. Are you jealous about that baby?” he asked. I glared at him
“Don’t call me that” I said acidly as I turned towards the portrait and felt Draco hold onto my wrist to stop me from going further. I looked back at him and he had an apologetic look in his eye
“I got the password didn’t I?” he whispered, and my expression softened “See? I complete you. You make a blunder and I get us out of it. And when we have nothing to do, you find us something to do” he said simply, and I smiled “Of course… we could go back in there and if we weren’t wearing any clothes we wouldn’t have to much work either” Draco started, ruining it. I glared at him before turning towards the painting
“Godric Gryffindor” I said, and it swung open. We both went inside and went towards the boy’s corridor. Draco pulled me behind a corner as a girl walked out of the boy’s dorms, her shirt scrunched up and her make-up smudged. Her hair completed the look. A boy shortly followed after her, lipstick stains on his shirt collar, and his hair messed up. He was tucking in his shirt as he walked past us, not seeing us, and he was carrying his shoes in his hands. I could still see the erection. After I was sure they were gone, I let out a gust of wind “Who knew there were slags in Gryffindor as well? And at such a young age” I said, shaking my head “The sorting hat must really be getting old” I said, and saw Draco smirk widely. “What?” I asked.
“You’re new to this sex thing aren’t you?” he asked, and I rolled my eyes, blushing slightly
“Not everyone is desperate to sell their bodies like the girls you screw. I bet I’m the only Slytherin girl you haven’t banged already” I said as we walked up the boy’s dorm stairs and into the dorm corridor.
“That could easily be fixed” he said breezily. He turned towards me, stopped, and brushed my cheek with the back of his hand where I was blushing. “You really are beautiful, Maia” he whispered, and I blushed brighter
“How will we find Potter’s room?” I asked, and heard Draco snigger
“That’s easy. Just find which one smells the most like Weasley” he said, and I gave him an unimpressed look. We kept walking until we heard one of the room doors open and saw Weasley and Potter walking out of it. Draco once again pulled me out of sight, this time into the room that was closest to us, and then shut the door. We both pressed our ears against the door to listen, and heard Harry casting the Alohomara spell on his room door. I was glad that this room was open.
“How are you feeling Harry?” I heard Weasley say.
“I’m ok… just a little sick. I’m going to kill Malfoy when I find him” Potter replied. I looked at Malfoy, confused, and saw him smirking.
“The nurse said you could go to lessons if you wanted today” Weasley said.
“Yeah I think I will. I don’t want to get too behind on my lessons. I am as it is, and I have Quidditch practice taking up most of my time as well. We’re determined to beat Slytherin this time. We have to, so I can see the look on Malfoy’s face” Potter said determinedly. I rolled my eyes
“Yeah but you never do” I muttered, and heard Draco laugh. Potter and Weasley stopped walking, hearing Draco laugh, before knocking on the door we were behind
“Neville? Are you in there?” Potter asked, and Draco and I held our breath. One of them turned the handle, and Draco pulled me into a closet and kept his finger on my lips as they entered. “Neville?” Potter questioned again, looking around the door. I peered at them through the crack in the wardrobe, wondering if they were going to give up and leave. Eventually they stopped playing detective and hurried back off to classes, and Draco and I entered Potter’s room by using magic. Draco laughed at everything he saw, calling Potter a wimp on several occasions, before crying with laughter as he picked up a teddy bear from Weasley’s bed.
“I bet if you pulled the covers back there would be urine stains on the mattress” I muttered, as I opened a drawer near Potter’s bed. To my dismay, there only seemed to be a piece of old parchment “What a poor tramp. He keeps yellowed parchment because he can’t afford new ones” I laughed, pulling out the parchment. Draco smirked, and I turned it over in my hands to see an outline of the school “Hang on… there’s something on here” I said, noticing hundreds of pairs of feet in the rooms of the school. Draco came over and looked at the parchment from behind my shoulder
“That’s a map of the school!” he said “And these-” Draco continued, pointing at a room filled with people “Are people that are in the building.” He said, looking at all the people, which included Potter and Weasley now walking towards their classroom. I smirked as I saw Snape around the corner. As soon as he saw them, they’d be in big trouble for skipping class
“I wonder who he wants to spy on” I said thoughtfully
“Probably his girlfriend Granger” Draco mused, smirking. I grinned.
“Hang on… we could use this to find a way into the forbidden forest” I said, and Draco looked at me, confused “Look, there’s six or seven hidden passageways. Even if we don’t get to the forbidden forest, we can still explore” I explained “Come on, let’s go” I pulled Draco towards the door by his hand, and we snuck out before exiting the Gryffindor chamber. Once we got out of there, I reopened the map “Pick a number” I told Draco. He seemed confused “Just pick!” I said irritably, and Draco said three. “Alright, so we’ll go through the third secret passageway and see where we end up” I said, and we both walked towards the third corridor. Having the map helped a lot, because we could prepare for intruders. We finally managed to get to where the third passageway was pinpointed, and saw nothing but a metal knight. Draco looked confused as he smoothed his hand over the wall, trying to see if there was something there that he could activate “No” I said thoughtfully “Here, help me move this” I said, pushing at the knight. Draco moved it out of the way, revealing a hole cut into the floor, and I grinned. He jumped in first to make sure it was ok before calling me down.

I jumped down after him and coughed, dusting the dirt off me, before accidently hit a switch with my foot that moved the knight back over the hole so that there was no light at all
“Great” I said, grabbing Draco’s hand. I could just feel him smirking.
“If you’re scared of the dark… you might need to come a little closer. You know, so you don’t get lost” he whispered into my ear, making me shiver
“No thanks” I said, before saying lumos and casting a light in the black darkness. I looked around to see it was a stone cave, and Draco walked in front of me before coming to the end of the cave and walking into a wooden door. I smirked and opened the door to find a flight of stairs. We climbed them to find a wooden trap door right above us, and pushed it up before climbing up to find a room and felt confused. Draco and I took the stairs that was opposite the ones we’d just climbed up. It led down, and we ended up at another wooden door. I sighed and pushed this one open to see we were right next to the forbidden forest. I smiled and walked out to see a shadow of a tree, and turned around to see we had just excited the shrieking shack. I screamed as a branch came to whack me. Just as it was about to collide with my body, Draco jumped on top of me, knocking me to the floor so that the branch hit him instead, and he was knocked to the other side by the blow of the branch. I gasped and looked at him to see him struggle to get up, and helped him up “Oh my god are you ok Draco?” I gasped, seeing his shirt stained with a little blood on the side of his body. I rolled his shirt up slowly to see his chest was badly bruised and bleeding. I gaped “We need to get you to the nurse” I said, pulling him up, but he shook his head and got up
“I’m fine. Just feeling a little dizzy. Come on, you wanted to explore didn’t you? And look, we’re at the forbidden forest. Let’s go before we get caught” he said quickly, and pulled me into the woods. I kept arguing that he should go to the nurse and eventually he snapped
“If you say that one more time I will strip you down right now and sleep with you” he said, pushing me against a tree. I glared at him
“I was only trying to help. You didn’t have to be jerk” I huffed, before walking ahead of him. I heard Draco sigh and then run up to me, before hugging me from behind. I tried to struggle out of his grasp but he was too strong
“I’m sorry ok? I didn’t mean that. I just wanted you to stop worrying” he whispered, his lips right next to my ear. I sighed and let it go, before walking with him in the woods. He helped me over the logs and just held my hand in the end so that it was easier for him to help me over anything that in front of us. We got to a thicker part of the woods, and I moved closer to Draco for protection. As we were about to change course, we heard a thud. I looked at Draco frantically, and he drew out his wand. I followed his example before hearing another thud. My wand shook in my hand as the thuds grew louder and heard scuttling. Eventually the owner of the thudding noise came into view, and we saw it was a huge, hair, creepy spider. My breath was cut short as I saw it, snapping its pincers, and the scuttling noise turned out to be a few more spiders that were not as large. I gulped, edging towards Draco. Spiders freaked me out even more than the dark lord. I mean once, I was in my fourteenth year of life, and there was this tiny spider the size of someone’s finger tip crawling up the curtain in the shower, and I screamed my head off then covered myself and called my parents into the room to get rid of it.
“Look children” the spider spoke, in an elderly voice. Since when did the world of magic have speaking spiders? “We have fresh food. And attractive ones at that” he hissed, and Draco shoved me behind him.
“If you come any closer, I’ll hex you into the deepest pit of hell” Draco warned, and the spider chuckled before coming closer “Do you know who I am?” Draco yelled importantly
“Yes… lunch” the spider hissed, before all of the mini spiders rained in on us. I screamed and heard Draco shout a curse, stunning all the spider’s muscles for a while. Draco picked me up and started running towards the less dense part of the woods, and I was silently thanking him for his quick reflexes that not only gained us a little time now but also pulled me out of sight of anyone that wasn’t supposed to see us before. We heard more scuttling and knew that the hex had worn off. Draco kept running, muttering something as it did. As a spider was about to jump towards Draco, his broom came into view, and Draco jumped on it before kicking off into the sky. We flew above the woods and ended up flying straight inside the building where McGonagall was standing, glaring at us. She closed the doors with a flick of her wrist, and carried on glaring

“Would any of you care to explain why instead of attending my lesson, you two had escaped into the forbidden forest?” she asked coldly. I looked at Draco and then back at her “One hour detention for both of you, and 50 points off Slytherin each. Now I expect you to be back in lessons in the next five minutes” she said sharply before looking at my hand. “And I will take that” she said, pulling the map out of my hand. She looked at the map and then back at me
“It’s Potter’s, miss. Ask him if you don’t believe me” I said innocently, and she looked at me for a while before leaving. Draco was smirking at me
“Good job” he whispered, as we started towards McGonagall’s class. “Hang on, why are we going to McGonagall’s class? We’re in Hagrid’s class” Draco said in a confused tone. I checked the time and then laughed
“Because we only have ten minutes left until lunch. It’s fourth period” I said, showing him my watch.
“Oh. Let’s go then” he said, and we walked to the class together. We entered to find McGonagall was already there. How did she do that?
“Were you two dillydallying again?” she said coldly. I shook my head but Draco just stayed silent.
“Sorry professor McGonagall” I said, and she nodded before looking at Draco. He just stared at her until he stared her down
“Back to your seats” she spat, and Draco smirked before we walked to the two empty seats right at the back. “I don’t think so” she said, as we were about to sit down
“Potter, Weasley, swap with those two” McGonagall said, and I gaped at her. Potter and Weasley were right at the front.
“But Professor, Potter forgot his glasses. However will he seem from the back? Even the weirdly shaped third eye on his forehead wont help much” I teased, meaning the ugly scar on his forehead, and heard Draco laugh.
“Two hours detention for both of you” she said, and my mouth hung open
“For what?!” I exclaimed
“For attitude and ignorance” she told me
“Well Draco didn’t say anything. I don’t see why he should accompany me” I said, and she glared at me for a while before looking back at her work. I rolled my eyes and we switched with the gruesome twosome at the front. “Nerds” I hissed, as Potter walked past me
“If you say one more thing Mist!” Potter started
“If I say one more thing what? Are you going to curse me Potter?” I sneered, and saw Draco smirk.
“You don’t know what I could do” Potter said, holding his wand up
“Touch her and you wont walk out of this room alive, Potter” Draco hissed, stepping in between me and Potter. I smirked at Potter. He glared at Draco for a while before huffing back to his seat and I laughed quietly as we took our seats.
