Forever Hold My Heart

When I woke up I heard a constant beeping sound. I sat up to find that I was connected with a heartbeat monitor. I looked and I didn't see anyone around. I slowly got up, I took a sniff and boy did I need a shower. I had completely healed, only question left was how long was I asleep for. I got out of bed and tried to turn off the machine only to find that I pushed a button and it went flat line. I'm not going to lie, I panicked a little. I started pushing random buttons.
"Oh forget this," I said and I took off all the attachments and walked over to my bag and started to pull out some clothes. I grabbed my Bermuda shorts and a tank top. and headed for the shower. Where was everyone at? Once I got out of the shower I walked back to my room I saw Travis talking with Julian. "Sorry about your machine."
"What the hell Katelyn," Travis said and I just looked at him
"What?" I asked
"You scared me," Travis said
"Oh I just assumed you guys heard me when I walked in," I said and he just gave me a look. "Am I missing something?"
"Yeah how about all we hear is a flat line and we come to find that you're not even here." Julian said
"Oh sorry?" I said unsure. "Where's everyone at?"
"Below the lounge," Travis said
"One on one, or team vs team fighting," I asked
"Team vs. Team," Julian said
"Alright let's go before we miss some action." I said and we started walking towards the Lounge. "So how's Gavin been holding up?"
"Well he's definitely been asking about you. He's concerned, he didn't know if you were okay from all of your injuries." Travis said
"Oh I can't wait to see his face once he sees how fast I've healed," I said and I paused, "By the way how long have I been asleep."
Travis mumbled something.
"What?" I asked
"He said, 14 days or 2 weeks or 336 hours or-" Julian started
"Whoa, wait. 2 weeks." I said as we entered the lounge.
"Yeah, believe it sleeping beauty," Julian joked.
"Why, though. Wait Mathew he gave me a shot and he said 'if' I wake up so he tried to kill me," I said and I was about to storm down the entry way. I was stopped when an arm wrapped around my waist and another around my eyes. "Let me go, Travis."
"Calm down there," Travis said
"Why? Are you in this too," I said and I tried to fight him off when someone else grabbed my legs.
"No, just listen," Travis said and I relaxed. "Remember we told you, you were shot by an anti sleep serum, well the reason the Latronums do it is because no sleep means you can't heal. So we needed you to sleep. If you didn't sleep you probably would of died. We had to risk giving you the shot, even though you might not have woken up. I know it was risk but it was the only chance you had. "
"You know what, let's talk about this some other time, right now we are missing some action." I said as they let me go.
"That's my girl," Julian said and I just laughed.
We walked down and I could see that two teams were up. I could see most of them were out sitting on the side lines. We walked over to where Marcus and Devin were at. Once we were sitting I felt Travis move aside my strap I glanced at him and he traced his finger on the back of my shoulder blade.
"I'd think you'd be used to seeing wounds heal," I joked with him.
"Actually it left a scar," Travis said I groaned
"Great," I said sarcastically and he just chuckled. I looked over and saw the that the fight was over.
"Well that was the last round," Devin said
"What? You guys should have woken me up from the beginning," I said
"If I remember your first time being out here you couldn't even watch," Devin said
"Well times have changed," I said and then I yelled. "I vote leaders have a go."
Then all the other teams started shouting in approval.
"It had to be Katelyn," Marcus said
"Alright, alright settle down," Mathew said and slowly it got quiet. "It has been awhile."
"You're not getting any younger," I said in my most convincing boy voice.
"Well since we are going to do this, I think it's only fair that our two recent 'graduates' participate," Mathew said and there was another uproar of approval
"What is he talking about," I whispered to Travis
"Julian and you," Travis said with a smile on his face.
"To make things fair I will write down our names with a number on the back. Next Katelyn will pick three numbers and that's how our teams will be made." Mathew explained as he started to write on his little clip board. "Katelyn do us the honors."
"One, two, and three," I yelled.
"On one team is Julian, Katelyn, and Marcus." Mathew said as we started to walk down to the arena.
"Can we change the rules and just forfeit for our whole team," Marcus said and I punched him in the arm.
"Alright we're going to make this a simple fight no weapons or persuasion." Mathew said and I gave him a sweet smile.
"Okay the match will start in 7 minutes that way you can warm up or plan for whatever," Mathew said and he walked towards Travis and Devin.
"We got this," I said stretching. "Marcus you get Mathew."
"Julian you get Devin and Katelyn get Travis." Marcus said
"Maybe we should team up on them," I suggested.
"No, okay if one of them is down, which I doubt it, then help the other." Marcus said
"Oh come on how bad can it be plus it's just for fun," I said. Julian and I helped each other stretch and get in the zone. A sudden thought occurred to me but it was too late to change now.
"Okay let's get this over with," Mathew said as he made someone tell us when to go.
"Ready, set, go!" I ran around Julian to try and get to Travis but was caught off guard when I saw Devin had jumped over Julian and tackled me. I quickly got up.
"Julian handle your man," I yelled only to see Travis was fighting him.
"Don't get distracted." Devin said as he punched my jaw. I fell to the ground and pretended to be passed out. I was good at playing games. I was caught off guard when Devin picked me up by my arms. I immediately kicked him in the stomach and with my other leg I kicked him in the head. He retaliated by kicking me in the butt, literally. We were both on the floor fighting. Actually we probably looked ridiculous just laying on our sides kicking each other. If it wasn't for how hard we were kicking I think I would have busted out laughing. On the contrary I started to laugh which only got him to kick the bottom of my chin. I jumped on to my feet and managed to get closer to Julian and Travis. I was still fighting Devin when I realized Travis wasn't that far from behind me. I took that opportunity to kick him in the back, which completely caught him off guard. I quickly ducked and turned around only to be kicked on the side of my face.
I think it's fair to say I totally should have seen that coming. I threw a punch at Devin and he moved to the left as I punched air and then I was kicked really hard from behind and I fell towards Devin and he took that opportunity to punch me in the stomach. I glanced to the side to see where Mathew and Marcus were at only to see that Julian was walking towards the side.
That S.O.B. forfeited. Which meant.... I felt another kick. I immediately jumped up and kicked both of them to the floor. As I was saying, I was now against Devin and Travis. I made my way over to Mathew, and jumped to tackle him only to have someone jump on me. I was dragged away, I managed to roll on back, only to have Travis straddle me while Devin held my arms down. I tried to fight them off.
"Say it," Travis said and I tried to kick him off but instead he began to tickle me.
"What are you doing?" I laughed
"Say it," Travis smiled as he continued to tickle me. I was gasping for breath, I finally extended my leg and kicked up to hit him. I dazed him for a second but he immediately composed himself and continued to tickle me. I was saved when Marcus managed to tackle Travis off of me in which I kicked Devin in the face. I jumped up to my feet only to be punched in the face by Mathew.
I tried to throw a hit at Mathew but he dodged it. I saw his scar and a thought just occurred to me. How did he have a scar? Then he got distracted when his phone rang and he reached into his pocket. I kicked him in his chest causing him to fall back. I had made him lose his air. I ran over and gripped his arm into an armbar, I tightly squeezed my hips around his arm and pulled his arm. "Say it or I'll break it," I said looking over at Marcus hoping that he could stall the other two while I was handling Mathew.
"You don't have the guts too," he said trying to get out of my grip. I pulled his arm, and he clenched his teeth.
"I really don't want to have to do this but I will if you don't say it," I said and I looked up and saw Devin running our way. "Sorry Mathew."
I quickly used all my force and pulled back and broke his arm.
"Okay I forfeit," Mathew said getting up, as he walked away he pulled out his phone.
I immediately jumped up and saw Devin coming my way. I was confused when he fell on the floor. I looked and saw that Marcus had thrown Travis to Devin.
"Let's finish this," Marcus yelled over to me.
"Okay," I said but neither Travis or Devin were moving. I was waiting for one of them to get up, I didn't want to get to close. I saw Marcus start walking over. "Don't it's a trap."
Yet Marcus ignored me and still got closer. I slowly got closer too, but I kept my guard up. I got close enough to see that they both had their eyes closed. I looked up at Marcus when suddenly two hands grabbed me by my ankles and pulled me down. I fell down pretty hard, I think I was seeing stars. I was then pushed on to my stomach and then my ankle was being twisted.
"What's the password," Devin said as he twisted my foot.
"Your mom," I said and he twisted it more.
"I'll have no mercy and we all know that your nothing without kicking." Devin said I could tell he was smiling.
"The only way you're getting me to quit is by knocking me out," I said. That's when I heard Julian shouting.
"Just forfeit Katelyn," Julian yelled
"You know if you keep this up you won't get to see Gavin today," Devin said
"Forfeit and leave you and Travis to kick Marcus' ass." I paused, "tempting but I wouldn't do that to him."
"Okay if you say so," Devin said and he started to slowly twist my ankle. I didn't know what to do. That was when we heard someone say forfeit we looked and saw Travis getting up to leave.
"Okay, good timing. I forfeit," I said as Devin let go of my foot.
"Me too," I turned around to give Marcus a death glare.
"What?!" I asked him and he shrugged. "You were suppose to handle Devin seeing as if I didn't say forfeit I would have been useless"
"I know but I'm tired," Marcus said
"Oh my God, I'm just going to walk away before I do something I might regret." I said making my way over to Julian and Travis.
"Relax," Travis said
"So why did you forfeit?" I asked Travis
"Well unlike the rest of you stubborn hot heads I don't want to have to endure the pain of breaking something." Travis said
"Oh smart, but not smart," I retaliated and he just laughed and shook his head.
"Okay, you need to get cleaned up," Julian said
"Carry me," I said and he shook his head. "Oh come on don't be like that."
Then I felt someone pick me up, it was Travis.
"Where to?" Travis asked
"To my castle," I joked
"Is your castle hell," Marcus joked as he walked by and I managed to kick him
"It's only hell when you come visit," I laughed and he just playfully rolled his eyes.
"Damn it Katelyn, I have to go to a meeting in 15 minutes." Mathew said and I noticed he had already put his arm in a sling.
"Hey what's done is done," I said as we entered the lounge. "Wait when will you be back?"
"Not until later tonight." Mathew said
"If you're not coming back soon then I won't be able to go visit Gavin," I said
"One of the other leaders can take you," Mathew said and I gave Travis my innocent smile.
"Yes, I'll take you," Travis said and we ended up in the medic aid room. Where Travis took out some things to help the swelling and clean the bleeding from around my mouth.
"You know you don't have to do this," I said as he gently patted a cotton ball on the bottom of my lip.
"I guess it's a habit," Travis said.
"Is it weird that I enjoy fighting you guys," I said
"No, because deep down inside we know it's just fun and games." Travis said
"Has anyone every died from this?" I asked
"Well technically no," He said
"What do you mean technically," I asked
"It's nothing," he said and I just raised my eyebrow
"Is my scar going to go away?" I asked
"No, your wounds healed maybe 4 days after you fell asleep. The reason it took so long for you to wake up was because your body was fighting off the anti sleep serum. Thankfully it chose to fight that one off instead of the one we gave you because if not you would have been in big trouble."
"Oh so how did Mathew get his scar?" I asked
"Maybe you should ask him," Travis said as he threw away the cotton ball.
"Why can't you just tell me," I asked
"It's not my story to tell," Travis said and he glanced down. "You might want to change your shirt."
I looked down and saw that it had some blood on it.
"No I'm good, plus I think it gives me a look." I said and he just chuckled. "Don't worry I will."
"So I'll just go get my keys. Also go get Julian." Travis said
"Oh Julian, why?" I asked
"Because you guys are team mates." Travis said
"Right," I said as I followed Travis out and then went to our room. As I entered the room I sang out, "Oh Julian."
"Oh Katelyn," Julian sang back
"Come on let's go," I said to him.
"Where?" He asked
"Travis is taking me to go see Gavin and he says that you have to come with because we are team mates." I said walking over to pull a shirt over my tank top and changed my shoes. I pulled out a pair of sun glasses.
"How fun and if I remember correctly wasn't it you who use to loathe royals. Look at you sell out, now you're dating one," Julian joked
"Well in my defense, he is uncorrupted by the ways of a royal," I said
"That's true," Julian said with a grin, he added, "We'll see how long he stays uncorrupted."
"Whatever," I laughed and I went to grab my phone but it wasn't on the night stand. Actually the last time I recall seeing it was at the masquerade. I shrugged it off, Mathew probably had it, I would have to talk to him.

Once we pulled up to the house I was amazed.
"Who can manage to live here and be uncorrupted." Julian said and I just shook my head.
"Shut up," I said playfully, "How big is this place?"
"7 beds and 11 baths," Travis said
"How many people live here?" I asked
"There's 4 total Royals." Travis said as we got out. "The reason why the houses have a lot of land is because it's easier to spot someone trying to enter the premises."
"Yeah Katelyn so don't get any bright ideas," Julian said
"Thanks for all your trust," I said rolling my eyes as we walked up to the doors and were greeted by other custos. We lingered in the entry way.
"By the way how long are we staying for?" I asked.
"It's currently 3:30 so before they eat dinner," Travis said
"He's out in the pool area," Julian said
"You two go on ahead, I'll be around," Travis said. He walked away from us as we walked over to the back. The back was huge, to put it simply. I was still confused how anyone would even begin to pay for these properties. I mean I know one time Mathew told me that Custos will help around the town without pay but I would assume that even that would help pay off several other homes like this.
We walked over to the poolside. Gavin had wrapped his arms around some girls waist and jumped in the pool with her as she screamed.
"You finally decided to show up," I looked to my right and saw Damien laying back on a lounge chair.
"Damien," I said with a smile as I went over to hug him and then I punched him on his arm really hard.
"What was that for," He asked
"That's for ditching me at the masquerade." I said.
"I think we're even now," Damien smiled
"That's what you think," I said
"He's going to be happy that you're here." Damien said
"I would hope so," I said
"Cecilia explained everything to him, maybe a little too much," Damien said as Julian and I sat on the other chairs
"What do you mean? Who's Cecilia?" I asked him
"Cecilia over there," Damien said referring to the girl Gavin was swimming with, "You might remember her as the Royal I bonded with."
"Oh," I said and I just watched as they went about their business. Gavin looked fine to me, happy if anything. I looked over at Cecilia she was a sight for sore eyes. Although she was in the water I could see she had long light brown hair. She also had a lot going on for her, I self consciously looked down at my chest. My mom always use to tell me that dancing was probably the reason for my lack of growth there. Sometimes she would say that I got it from my Grandmother. The thought of my mom flooded my mind with unwanted memories. I clenched my teeth and tried to think of other things.
"What's on your mind," Damien said
"I think the question should be what's not on my mind." I said
"You can confide with us we're family," Julian said
"I know," I said with a weak laugh, "I was just thinking about my mom."
I wiped a stray tear that was on the brim of falling down. No words were said the only sound was laughter coming from the background. Damien put his hand on my knee and gave a light squeeze. It was his way of trying to comfort me.
"Katelyn!" I looked and could see Gavin had his arms rested on the edge of the pool.
"Are you going to be okay," Damien asked.
"Yeah," I said and he nodded in Gavin's direction.
I walked over to the edge of the pool. I sat down criss crossed.
"Why don't you put your feet in the water," Gavin suggested I took off my shoes and scooted closer.
"How've you been?" I asked
"I'm okay and you?" Gavin asked
"I'm alive," I said with a small smile.
"Oh hey I want you to meet Cecilia," Gavin said as he waved her over. Up close I could see she had light green eyes.
"So you're the famous Katelyn I've heard so much about," She smiled.
"Guilty," I said
"I've only heard good things," Cecilia said with a bright smile. "Well I'm going to go shower, I'll leave you two to be."
"It was nice meeting you," I said as she swam over to the stairs.
"I see you haven't completely healed yet," He reached up and barely touched my lip.
"Oh this happened today, but it's nothing so don't worry about it." I said
"Don't worry about? How can you be so calm about this? Did they do this to you because you wanted to come see me," He started
"Whoa, calm down there buddy," I said putting my hands up, "It wasn't intentional harm it was fun and games."
"Okay if you say so," Gavin said he then moved to the side and pulled himself out of the pool. "Damien, can you bring me a towel."
I gave Gavin a weird look because of the way he said it and I watched as Damien got up to the table and picked up a towel.
"Do you want him to bring you anything, something to drink," Gavin continued
"Stop, what the hell are you doing?" I asked as I stood up.
"What?" He asked
"Why are you talking to him like that?" I said
"Like what?" Gavin asked
"Like he's your personal servant." I said
"I don't see the problem, Cecilia does it all the time," Gavin shrugged.
"Well that's her but I would have never guessed that you'd be like that," I said getting upset.
"He's here might as well make use of him," Gavin said
"No, he's here to protect you. So am I, doesn't mean you're going to go telling me what to do. Would you?" I said
"No but your different," Gavin said
"Last time I checked I was a Custos if anything me and Damien were on the same team together." I said
"If you want to get technical it's like you were trained like one of them but really you're like a Royal. Cecilia told me that you are suppose to have a Custos around you at all time because of your specialty." Gavin said
"Are you listening to yourself right now," I asked
"Are we really going to argue right now, I haven't really got to spend any time with you and now look at us," Gavin said.
I sighed.
"We will finish this argument later," I said
"That's the Katie I know," Gavin said messing up my hair. "I'm going to go take a shower and then we can talk."
Gavin leaned in a kissed my forehead. I watched him as he walked away. I walked over to the chairs and laid down on my stomach.
"Is there any way I can rewind time and keep the memory of what my best friend use to be like," I said
"You can't say I didn't tell you so," Julian said
"It's not that bad Katelyn. You'll get use to it I mean if anything I think you overreacted just a little bit even though I appreciate you defending me." Damien said
"Who's side are you on," I groaned as they just chuckled.
