Chapter Thirteen

Announce and denounce
Emily and Gibby pulled into the O’Callaghan’s driveway at the same time as a white four wheel drive did. Emily immediately recognise John’s car, as she got out of Gibby’s mustang she caught John frowning at the sight of her and Austin.
“Hey man what’s up?” Austin said giving John a ‘man-hug’
“Nothing really, just band stuff, you?”
“I kidnapped my best friend for a few hours” Austin smiled towards Emily and she smiled back, John kept looking at them strangely and odd feeling swirling in his stomach.
“That’s cool, what did you guys do?” John prodded really wanting to know where they went, what they did and how they did it, though he consoled himself that his protectiveness was for the media not to think his fiancé was double timing him, they don’t even know that I’m engaged yet… shut up John! He mentally debated.
“We went on a stroll to the park” Emily beamed and John felt annoyed, if he didn’t know better he might have thought that Gibby took his fiancé on a date.
“Oh okay we better get inside before my mum gets annoyed at us” John mumbled but saw Emily nod, Austin grabbed her in a tight hug which she immediately returned and then he kissed her cheek. John immediately looked away confused by the weird sensation in his stomach, he had no idea why this annoyed him so much, I’m engaged to her and I haven’t even hugged her….ever! He thought then scolded himself, what the heck are you thinking John? You don’t like her remember…
“John, John, JOHN!” He heard Emily yell waving her hands in front of his face, he must have space out.
“Ugh… yea?” he asked awkwardly she looked at him funny but her mesmerizing dark brown eyes twinkled, he cleared his throat,
“Shall we?” She motioned to the front door and John just nodded, she momentarily turned around and waved enthusiastically goodbye to Gibby, John put his hands in his pocket and stood awkwardly by the opened door, Emily walked past him and gave him a big smile, John caught his breath… WHAT THE HECK IS WORNG WITH ME!? He mentally yelled.
“Ahh good you’re both here, dinner will be ready in 2 minutes” Jenny smiled at them,
“Need any help?” Emily smiled and Jenny thought for a second,
“Want to set up the table?”
“Sure” Emily smiled, then mischievously looked at John he lifted a questioning brow. Emily slipped her hand in his momentarily startling John as he felt her warm, soft hand in his.
“But I’m sure John would just love to help me with that” Emily grinned and Jenny looked at John who still looked shocked that Emily held his hand, for some reason he felt his cheeks start getting warmer was he blushing?
“Sure?” He said not really thinking straight, his agreement shocked both women especially Jenny.
“Awesome!” Emily yelled and pulled his towards the kitchen, John glanced behind him and his mother just stood there like a statue however a huge grin on her face… oh god.

Dinner

“Mhm” Emily said as she dug into the lasagne Jenny made, everyone chuckled.
“A girl who likes to eat, this is rare indeed!” Ross said dramatically in a fake British accent,
“This girl is not one of those salad girls I like my food!” Emily grinned before eating more.
“Can I marry her?” Shane said and Emily laughed.
“Sorry Shane, she’s engaged to your brother” Jenny smiled.
“I’ll marry you in secret” Emily wink and Shane did a fist pump, then high- fived Emily.
“So John, Emily we have something to tell you both…” John’s dad said, Emily put a fork down and gave him her attention.
“Okay, well…” John Senior stalled and john rolled his eyes.
“Get to the point dad”
“Your engagement announcement should be in 3 weeks, then engagement party in 6 weeks” Jenny blurted out and John choked on his food, Emily glanced at him and winced he looked so angry.
“What?” John said calmly but still she could tell he was about to blow up.
“John she’s been here for about 3 weeks now, so I think we should announce it”
“It’s not your flipping decision!” John yelled standing up and Emily flinched,
“John calm down” Emily said gently and he looked at her angrily.
“This is your entire fault!”
“This is not all my fault O’Callaghan!” Emily said annoyed,
“Do you think I want you? Do you think I want to marry you?! ” John yelled and the way he said the ‘you’ held such distaste, that Emily felt tears well up in her eyes.
“I know you don’t” She said standing up, she grabbed his collar and pulled him down considering he was much taller than her, she came face to Face with him.
“But don’t you dare talk to me that way” she said slowly, she pushed him away and walked upstairs, slamming the bedroom door. He flinched as suddenly he realised what he said and groaned. Looking up, his whole family glared at him, John gulped guilt was eating him alive, he left the dining room quickly and went to the backyard to clear his head, suddenly his phone vibrated glancing at it he caught his breath,
To JCO: - “Hey babe, I haven’t seen you in a while, want to me up tonight? Love Carrie ;)”
