Chapter Five

John had never felt so relax as he slept, he tilted his head and he was face to face with Emily. Her breath fanned his face and he found himself taking in all her features as she slept. Her plump pink lips were slightly parted, her thick black curly hair framed her face and the long eyelashes rested on her cheeks, her eye lids fluttered slightly. The sunlight from the window brushed on her olive skin making it glow, John thought of just how beautiful she looked as she slept. He found himself about to brush a piece of hair that fell across her face but he caught himself and jumped out of bed abruptly, the quick movement startled Emily and she woke up with a start her brown eyes wide and John felt something strange in his stomach as he looked in the deep velvety depths of her confused eyes.
“John is everything alr-” Emily was about to ask but John stopped her.
“Everything is fine Emily...really” he breathed out.
“Oh um okay if this is how you wake up every morning you really have to work on it, you almost gave me a heart attack” Emily chuckled and the sound sent warmth in him, making him wary of her but he found himself smiling anyway.
“Yea not usually” he gave her a lopsided grin and Emily felt warmth flood her belly.
“Hmm, so what time is it?” She yawned
“6 AM” he said sheepishly and she looked at him wide eyed and threw her body back on the bed making him laugh.
“So what time do I have to ugh meet your friends again?” her voice was muffled against her pillow.
“1pm so you better be ready” John said his voice turning cold and he turned around and left abruptly, making Emily become confused what on earth have I done this time?

Goodbye and Hello!

That morning was really strange, it was as if John had left his guard down and he could actually be a nice guy. But it was too short lived to count Emily thought sadly as she shook her head.
“How is this ever going to work?” she whispered to herself as she pulled three quarter light blue jean shorts that had ripped marks on it. She wore a red flowing top and put on her red converse. Quickly going downstairs and saw the luggage by the door, her heart broke as she realised her mama and little sister were truly leaving her. Running down the stairs Melissa met her with tear filled eyes that made Emily fall down to her knees and grab her 13 year old sister in her arms.
“Te quiero hermana mayor” Melissa cried. (I love you older sister)
“Te amo demasiado hermanita” Emily said sobbing, (I love you too baby sister) both sisters were unaware that the whole family were looking at them. Emily cupped Melissa’s cheeks and kissed them, that’s when the both realised the family were looking making Emily blush.
“Take care of yourself hermanita” Emily whispered and Melissa nodded,
“Cuidar de su hermana apuesto futuro esposo” (take care of your handsome future husband sister) Melissa winked towards John making Maria and Emily laughed.
“You little squirt don’t get into too much trouble okay and be good with mama” Emily grinned.
“No promises” Melissa chuckled,
“Melissa we have to go...” Mama said and Emily turned to her mother her chest heavy.
“Mi Hermosa hija te quiero mucho y se que John hara un buen marido solo le dio tiempo Oh! y no olvide de tomar su medicamento”(My beautiful daughter, I love you very much and I know John will make a good husband just give him time oh! and don’t forget to take your medication) her mother said while hugging Emily.
“I hope you’re right mama, I love you call me when you get back home and I won’t forget Mama” Emily tried to stop the tears.
“Good I don’t want the O’Callaghan to rush you to the Hospital” Maria whispered and Emily sighed, her anaemia had gotten worst these past few months and she knew it.
Jenny and John senior got into their car with Melissa and Maria. Emily stood by the door and watched them go, tears poured down her cheeks and she felt an arm go around her shoulders trying to comfort her, looking up it was John.
“You speak Spanish?” John said it was more of a statement than a question
“Yea...” was all Emily said before shrugging his arm off her shoulders and walked back into the house. This boy confuses me how is he a jerk one minute and a sweetheart the next?
John’s POV

John looked as Emily entered his house...no, their house...nope, oh just a house! He could still see how sad she was when the car left, she speaks Spanish! Now that’s unbelievably attractive he thought to himself and the way she interacted with her little sister was so sweet. Looking at his watch he noted that they had to leave soon to Jared’s little get together he hoped she would be up to it.

Half an hour later

Emily walked towards John’s white four wheel drive, he walked to her side and opened the door for her, she looked shocked and a slight blush crept on her cheeks as she thanked him John grinned. He jogged to the driver’s side they were on their way to Jared’s little gathering. Emily started fiddling with her hands and John picked up on the nervous habit,
“Nervous?” He asked while glancing at her, she bit her lip and nodded.
“Don’t worry, they are really friendly” he assured her and she sighed,
“Do they know about us?” she asked awkwardly at the mention of ‘Us’
“Yep they know the whole deal but only they and your close friends can know, no one else or the media will have a field day okay?” John said and Emily nodded while John pulled into Jared’s driveway. They both opened the car door and walked towards the front door, John held his hand out and Emily reluctantly placed her hand in his. As they walked towards the backyard he could see his entire band members were there and one more Austin Gibbs one of his best friends is back, he opened the door and his band mates all looked at Emily, Kennedy whistled and Emily held John’s hand tighter making him squeeze her hand back, Jared smirked as he saw their intertwined hands.
“Emily this is Jared, Pat, Garrett, Kenny and Tim and the one whose back is facing us is Austin-” John started to say but stopped when he heard her gasp,
“Gibby!?” She exclaimed and Austin twirls around wide eyed,
“MILLIE!?” Austin yelled.

Emily’s POV

I was holding tightly to John’s hand as he pointed towards his friends, I was trying to remember the names, okay; Jared= red hair, Pat= Long hair, Garrett= stunning blue eyes, Kenny= the one who whistled, Tim= the one who resembles pat and Austin=GIBBY!? I gasped,
“Gibby!?”
“MILLIE!?” he yelled and ran over to me and almost tackled me as he held me tightly.
“What the heck Gibby, what are you doing here!?” Emily said as she couldn’t believe her long lost best friend was standing right in front of her.
“You’re asking me! The better question is what are you doing here baby girl!?” Gibby/ Austin Gibbs yelled.
“I’m getting married” Emily laughed at Gibby’s shocked yet amused expression.
“Not to Blake I hope!” Gibby said loudly making Em flinch, John raised his eyebrow at her.
“Oh no geez never!” she exclaimed,
“Then who...?”
“That would be me Austin” John said as he stood behind Emily placing his hands on her shoulders, Austin looked shocked.
“Whoa you’re marrying my best friend O’Callaghan!?” Gibby said in disbelief and John looked at me wide eyed.
“How are you guy’s best friends....?” Pat asked trying to piece everything together.
“We grew up together, me and him have been best friends for as long as I can remember we have been inseparable apart from 2 years ago when he went AWOL” Emily said lifted and eye brow.
“Sorry you know after that car crash I couldn’t stay” he said sheepishly, the car crash from two years ago killed a lot of their friends including Gibby’s girlfriend.
“Yea I know Gibby” she place a hand on his cheek, “But you know who’s going to flip, a little lady named Talia Hemsworth”
“How is Lia?!” Gibby had always called Talia Lia.
“Dreaming of the opportunity to slap you” Emily grinned and Gibby winced as though he was slapped already.
“Oh Gibby it’s so nice to finally see you again, you had us all so worried!” They hugged and she looked up at John and his green eyes were fixed on her making her blush.
“So you and O’Callaghan huh” He chuckled “how did that happen and how long have you two been together?” Gibby asked having seen the exchange,
“Well Gibby this is the second day we’ve met...” Emily said sheepishly
“And you’re getting married! What the heck Millie!” He exclaimed,
“Austin chill, it’s complicated” John said putting a hand on the small of my back, Austin did the unthinkable he grabbed john and pushed him near a wall,
“You didn’t get her pregnant did you!?” Austin fumed and John looked at him coldly acting like a protective older brother.
“No, but you better get your hands of me Gibbs” John said quietly and Emily rushed to them,
“Gibby seriously, mama arranged for us to get married, quita tus manos de mi novio ahora!” (get your hands off my fiancé now!) She exclaimed annoyed and watched as Gibby chuckle at her Spanish outburst and he released a very annoyed John.
“She speaks Spanish?” Kennedy asked again more of a statement than a question and he winked at her.
“Cut it out Brock” John replied playfully shoving him,
“I better call Talia, be prepared for screaming” Emily chuckled, oh boy... that was um, not what I expected.
