Anything for Us

It's hard to love when I've been stuck in hell.

Prom is in a week. Only a week. It was only when I actually started paying attention to Yasmin’s prom stress rants that I realised I honestly have nothing sorted out. No limo, no after-party venue, no tux. I think Dakota might kill me if nothing is planned before next week. I’m not even joking. The gooey-smile he’s been wearing ever since I said yes to his messed-up prom proposal shows me just how much this Junior Prom means to him, and I want to show him just how much he means to me too.

So, straight after school finished and when Scott had dropped me home, I went straight to my laptop to do research. Scott thinks I’m doing homework. Hah. It only took me half an hour to find a suitable limo (I had to confirm it with Rocco and Zach first, seeing as we’re all going together), so that got sorted quickly. The after party was even easier – I just rented out a three-bedroom suite at the best hotel in the city. Easy. But a tux that excited me in the slightest? Not so easy.

Who would know about good tuxes on short timing?

Shit. I know.

Dad.

Of course, he must know. His life-consuming job comes with some perks in the fashion industry after all. But do I have to ask him? Really?

“ANGEL! ROCCO! DINNER WILL BE READY IN AN HOUR!”

Scott. Great. If I don’t get this sorted tonight I’ll keep putting it off and then I’ll never find a decent tux in time. I’ve got to do this now.

Taking a deep breath, I left my room and headed down the corridor, towards my dad’s study. I knocked twice.

“Come in!”

I groaned softly before doing so.

“Angel! I didn’t even know you were home,” my dad smiled.

He’s in a good mood. This is a good sign.

“I sorta need a favour,” I said hesitantly.

“Is it illegal?” he asked, deadpan.

“No! Why would you even think that?!” I asked, slightly offended.

Rocco? Yes. Me? No!

“I was just checking. Sorry. What do you need?” he asked, raising an eyebrow.

“I need a tux. Like, by next week,”

“Is that it? I thought it would be more than that,” my dad chuckled.

“Well, no. I’ve already sorted everything else out, but Dakota only asked me to Prom a few days ago and I totally forgot about getting anything and…”

My dad sighed, so I stopped talking. What’s wrong?

“What?” I asked, confused.

“Nothing,” he replied.

“Bullshit,” I said simply.

My dad narrowed his eyes at me briefly, before running his hand over his hair.

“I still don’t like how quick you were to forgive Dakota. After all the shit he put you through for so long,” my dad said softly.

A lump rose in my throat, my mouth going dry. How can he say that to me?

“I love him, Dad,”

“But…”

“I love him. I’ve loved him for years. I would do anything to be with him, anything, even if it means forgetting his past. Wouldn’t you forgive Scott in a heartbeat too?” I replied, interrupting.

My dad clenched his jaw, not looking at me for a few seconds. He knows I’m right. He knows he would do anything for Scott too.

“You both want a tux?” he eventually said.

I couldn’t help but grin. It didn’t solve our discussion, but it was better than nothing!

“Yeah, we both do,” I nodded.

“Come to work with me tomorrow. We’re doing a gala style shoot – there’ll be plenty of suits to fit you, and I’m sure Dakota will fit into a child’s one,” my dad sighed.

I chose to ignore his comment about Dakota and just grinned a little wider.

“Thank you! Thank you so much! You won’t regret this, I swear,” I promised.

“Yes, I will. You can make it up to me by vacating the house this weekend,” my dad said simply.

“What? Why?” I frowned, not understanding.

“Well you see, when two people love each other very much, they like to spend a lot of time expressing that love by repeatedly fucking each other in the ass…”

“WOAH! Okay, I’m going!” I squeaked.

Eww. Just…no. He did that on purpose. Jerk.

“I thought you’d see it my way. Now get out, I actually have work to do,” my dad smirked.

“Yes Sir!” I saluted.

I squeezed his shoulder in an extra thanks, before leaving, heading straight out the house to tell Dakota the good news. Prom was going to be awesome. I would make sure of it.
