The Way We Were

Hangover

October Seventeenth

Last night I must have gotten so drunk, because I don't remember anything past when Marilyn wanted to hear my music. I woke up alone in my bed with the worst headache in my life, and as I sat up I felt the urge to get sick.

So I covered my mouth and jumped out of bed, running down the stairs into the bathroom. After gagging and coughing up a lung, I held my head and slowly went back upstairs and crawled into bed. Thankfully we weren't doing any filming today, well, I wasn't anyway. They were going to film some of Guy's scenes.

I sighed as I laid back down and pulled the covers up to my chin and laid on my side, staring at the clock that read 1:17 pm. I reached for my phone on the night table and checked to see if I missed any calls or texts; I did, but they were old ones from Ryan. Ones that contributed to the end of our friendship. After reading them over and listening to the voicemails, I hesitated for a moment, but took a deep breath and began deleting them one by one, and finally deleting his number from my contacts.

I went through my numbers and found Caleb's; so I pressed his name and watched as the phone dialled his number.

Caleb's POV

I had been trying my best to avoid Lily, as she and Garrett were staying here at my parents place for couple days, "visiting". But she managed to convince me to go for a walk with her through the orchard paths, so I agreed and tried to avoid any "deep" conversations. But she also managed to bring them up.

Walking up to the guesthouse hidden in the trees, she asked to see the inside, claiming she didn't remember what it looked like. I sighed and took the key out from underneath the mat and unlocked the door, letting us in.

She walked around and examined the place, as soon as she spotted the bed, she jumped on it and playfully laughed. "Wow, it's been awhile since I've been here." She smiled.

"Yeah, I guess so." I half-smiled, leaning against the wall.

"Come sit over here." She chuckled, patting the bed.

I shrugged my shoulders, "I'm fine here."

"I don't bite." She smirked.

I hesitated, but slowly walked over and sat on the bed next to her.

"You know, I've missed you." She quietly spoke.

"Yeah, you already told me that." I nodded, not wanting to look at her.

She crawled up behind me and placed her hands on my shoulders, rubbing them. "I've missed everything about you." She whispered in my ear.

I didn't say anything. She then crawled around me and sat on my lap facing me, her legs on either side of me. "Lay down." She whispered. I shook my head and resisted, but she pushed me down and kissed me passionately. I closed my eyes tightly, trying to resist her, but she moved her hand down along my body and held me through my jeans.

I groaned as I sat up and pushed her off me, "Stop!"

She thudded onto the floor and glared at me, then my phone rang, so I answered it.

"Hello."

"Hi Caleb, it's Audrey."

"Audrey, how are you? I miss you." I smiled, looking away from Lily.

"I'm...hungover." She laughed, "But other than that I'm okay."

"Were you at the club last night?" I chuckled.

"Yeah, I was hanging out with Marilyn Manson and I think we finished off a bottle of whisky, I don't remember much." She laughed.

I was about to ask her something else, but then Lily got up and crawled behind me and began kissing my neck and my shoulders; I tried to push her away, but she was threatening to let Audrey know she was here. "Uh, so what brings you uh..uh, to call me?"

"I actually wanted to talk about the wedding." She replied.

"The wedding?" I asked.

"Yeah, what would you think if I said we should get married earlier?" She asked.

"Really? Like...when?" I pushed Lily off me.

"I was thinking...October 29th." I could tell that Audrey was biting her lip, like she always does.

"That's like, in two weeks." I stood up and walked away from Lily.

"Is that too soon?" She asked.

I smiled and shook my head, "That's perfect actually."

"Really?" She smiled, sounding too tired to express her full excitement.

"Yeah. Let's do it. I'll tell my family right now." I smiled.

"Oh Caleb, thank you! I still want to get married in Nashville, on your family's ranch. Remember, a simple country wedding." She lightly laughed.

"Of course, this is great. I'm even more excited now, I can't wait to marry you."

"Same here, I wanna be married already!" She laughed. "But anyway, text me later, I'm gonna go back to sleep."

"Okay, have a good sleep, I love you."

"Love you too, bye." She hung up. After I hung up, I turned to face Lily. "Do that again, and I'll make sure never have anything to do with me or my family. I will tell them what you've done."

"Caleb, don't you want me?" She asked, standing up and walking up to me, sliding her hands along my shoulders.

"No. I just want my fiancée, Audrey." I replied. I turned away and left the guesthouse.
