Lucky Now.

Gonna make you love me.

They both woke several hours later to the sound of her alarm. He reached over and turned it off quickly before cuddling back to her to keep himself warm. He could use his sleepiness as an excuse to touch her.

"School sucks." She mumbled and he chuckled, "I know."

"Let's not go."

"Ok." He grumbled shutting his eyes once more. He had perfect attendance. What would one day do?

"Really?" She asked surprised and he mumbled a yes against her shoulder.

"Ok." She responded not going to object. He pulled the blanket closer to them and fell back asleep. The second time they woke it was around 10 and Garrett rubbed his eyes as she clung to him telling him it was too cold for him to move.

He chuckled and ran his hand down her arm as she spoke, "Glad you're still sleepy because I have time to prepare before your nerves kick in." She said and he glared at her, "hey, I'm not that bad..."

"Yeah, you kind of are." She said with a grin.

"I'm sorry! I just think you're extremely beautiful and it makes me nervous." He mumbled as he pulled away from her and sat up messing with his hair.

She didn't respond just sat up and watched the boy go back to his shy ways.

"Maybe we should go to school." He mumbled not wanting to sit around and humiliate himself even more.

She sighed and spoke softly, "So, how long does this shy thing usually last?"

"It's not a thing Leah. It's me. I told you I was weird." He mumbled in his defense as he got up and grabbed his pants.

"Well, you aren't like this with them."

"For the millionth time they are not you. Sorry if I can't stop being awkward when the girl I've liked forever is showing some sort of interest in me now. " he said seriously not sure how he was able to say that without stuttering or blushing madly.

"You like me?" She managed to ask and he rolled his eyes, "Who doesn't Leah?" He mumbled before walking into the bathroom and closing the door with a sigh. Maybe he wasn't so lucky after all.

Leah just stared at the door unsure of what to do now. He liked her. A grin hit her lips at the thought, but she didn't know where to go from here. He finally came back out with better hair and in jeans. He grabbed his glasses and slid them on before looking around for his shoes.

"Don't go." She said and his blue eyes landed on hers.

"Look, forget I ever said anything ok? It's just a stupid crush, and you like Pat so there really isn't anything to remember about this conversation. I'm going to go home." Garrett got out as he rubbed the back of his neck.

She instantly frowned and simply nodded in defeat. She didn't know what any of this meant now. The boy left without another word and he instantly regretted it once he got to his car. Did he have to be so rude? He felt horrible as he sat in his car in debate. If he left he was someone he didn't even know. He liked her and what she said was nothing bad so why did he act that way? He groaned as he got out of the car and entered the house once more. She was still as he left her and one her eyes came in contact with his he wrapped his arms around her and brought her down to the bed.

"I'm sorry. Seriously. I didn't mean that." He whispered into her hair.

She nodded and he kissed her cheek, "Don't be mad at me please."

"I'm not." She whispered closing her eyes in relief.

He sighed and held her to him, "You're honestly one of my good friends already and I don't want that to change."

She nodded because a part of her hated hearing that.

"Now go get dressed and I'm going to talk the guys into skipping the rest of the day." He said with a grin and she smiled, "Ok."

He kissed her forehead before climbing off of her. As she got ready he texted his idiotic friends and it didn't take much convincing to get them to leave.

"Hey pretty girl, you ready?" He asked sticking his head in her room and she laughed as she slid on her toms, "Yep."
He smiled and she grabbed his hand, "Where are we going?"

"Lunch ok?"

She nodded and he drug her to the car. He opened the door for her with a grin and she got in. Maybe she needed to push this whole Pat thing just to see how Garrett reacted. Apparently he cared on some level.

Once they reached the pizza parlor the guys were already waiting for them since the school was closer than her house.

"Heyyy Leahhh." John said and she laughed as Pat moved down a seat for her and Garrett. She sat next to Pat who gave her a grin, "Hi."

She couldn't help but giggle some more, "Hi."

"You look pretty." He said with his smile.

"Thanks Pat."

Garrett scowled from his seat. He knew Pat didn't mean anything by it but it still annoyed him. He couldn't help it though.

Pat looked at Garrett and threw his hands up defensively causing the boy to roll his eyes.

"I can't believe you got Garrett to skip." Kennedy stated and Leah laughed, "He basically told me he wanted to!"

Garrett shrugged, "I was tired." And he liked holding her.

"Watch it Leah. Don't make little Garrett wild!" Jared joked.

"Actually, how much would it cost for us to get you to sleep with him?" John asked with his mischievous smirk.

Garrett blushed furiously as he fumbled with words, "Shut up."

She laughed, "Um, I'm not going to get whored out for Garrett."

"Why not? It'll do both of you a favor!" John stated.

"How?!" Garrett asked rolling his eyes.

"Um, how cute would it be, you two can take each others v-cards!"

Garrett groaned and let his head hit the table in embarrassment. Leah couldn't help but laugh at how Garrett was acting. She found that fact to be cute though.

"Gar." She whispered placing her arm around him and he groaned, "No. Thanks for making me look more like a loser, John." He mumbled.

"What are you talking about? It's sweet." She said and John spoke, "No dude for real. I respect that. Even more towards her because she's a girl. I mean, I can't do it, but still." He said seriously. Through all his teasing he honestly respected Garrett. He wished he was more like him. More level headed and wise for their age.

Garrett sat up glaring at John and Kennedy couldn't help but chuckle. Garrett angry was amusing to him because it never happened.

His anger towards the boy quickly disappeared though when Leah's lips touched his cheek, "I think it's cute." She whispered and his eyes locked with hers as the waitress brought their pizzas. For once he put his thoughts and nerves aside and leaned in pecking her lips. Not long enough for anyone to notice, but enough for her to stop breathing. He quickly looked back at the guys tearing into their pizza and a grin hit his lips as he slid a piece on his plate. He could do this.

She just stared at him until Pat placed a slice of pizza in front of him. She had to fight the urge to just lean over and kiss him again. She fiddled with her napkin not really hungry now. Once they were finished he boldly grabbed her hand as they left the building, linking their fingers together.

"Where are we going?" Jared asked following behind John.

"To the park. I need a smoke." He responded. Garrett didn't care where they went as long as he was with her. Once at the park Pat began to scream and jumped into a swing causing the girl to giggle as she sat in the one beside hum. Garrett smiled as she laughed at Pat who was being crazy like usual. He began to push the girl lightly and she began trying to get Pat to jump off the swing causing Garrett to laugh. He grabbed her waist pulling her to a stop, "The dude is crazy. Don't make him hurt himself."

She pouted and he kissed her cheek quickly, "Yeah you'd be pouting if he got hurt."

"Maybe..."

He wrapped his arms around her and kissed her jaw, "Hey Lea..."

"Yeah?" She managed to get out.

"I like you." He whispered causing her to shiver.

Before she could respond Kennedy was yelling the boys name and he removed his arms from her before walking over to his friend who was hanging off the monkey bars.

She sighed and watched the boy laugh from where she sat.

"He likes you, you know?" Pat said and she chuckled, "Yeah..."

"Do you like him?" He asked clearly intriqued and she simply nodded in response.

"Thought so." He said with a wide smile, "You two should date. He's awesome, you're awesome. What's the problem?"

She shrugged, "Good question."

He chuckled, "Well get on it!"

"No! He needs to be a guy!"

"True. I think he's getting better though."

"Me too." She responded with a grin as she watched Garrett from afar.

"Come on." Pat said grabbing her hand and she laughed as he began to run over to the guys. John was leaned against a tree smoking as Jared spun around on the merry go round.

"Living the dream." She said and John stifled a laugh, "Yep!"

"Hey we have a show Friday, coming?" Kennedy asked and she nodded. She wouldn't miss it for the world. Garrett grinned at her from where he sat on the monkey bars.

"So do none of you have girlfriends?" She asked realizing she never saw any girls around them.

"Nope." Jared stated.

"So many girls so little time." John said and she laughed, "Not what I asked."

"Well, maybe Garrett will have one soon." Pat chimed in and the boy almost fell from the bar he sat on as his cheeks burned red.

"Leggo!" Pat added as John threw his cigarette to the ground.

"Maybe he will." She responded once Garrett was beside her and he shoved his hands in his pockets trying to stop the blushing.

"Girls don't like me." He fumbled out and she shrugged, "I know one who does." She said with a grin.

"Who?" He asked looking up at her. Not that he was interested if it was anyone but her.

"I don't know Gar, maybe you should take a chance and find out." She said before yelling for Kennedy and sprinted over to him.

He sighed and watched her in frustration. He was taking a chance. He was trying. What else could he do?

"She so likes you." He heard and looked to see Pat.

"I don't know..."

"She does. She told me. Scouts honor." He said holding up his hand.

"Doesn't seem like it."

"You're delusional. Ask her on a date, or hey, to prom like you said! It's not that far from now."

"A month."

"Fine. Date then prom. Do it or she'll move on." He said patting his shoulder as they reached their cars. He let out a sigh as he leaned against his door as Kennedy and Leah carried on talking like it was nothing. He stared at his shoes wondering how he'd go about asking her out.

"Hi." She said causing him to look up instantly.

"Hi." He whispered with a grin. She just did that to him and he didn't know why.

"Ready?" She asked giving him a questionable look.

He reached out grazing her fingers with his. He was just going to ask her. What did he have to lose after the embarrassment from the guys?

"Hey Leah..."

"Mhm?"

Her green eyes hit his and he couldn't do it even though every part of him wanted to.

He shook his head, "Never mind. Are you going to Pat's with us?" He whispered and she nodded as she stared at the boy in confusion.

He moved himself from the car and opened the door for her. He was a coward and he knew it. He sighed as he drove in silence to Pat's his head was filled with 'what if's' and he just wanted to run head first into traffic. He'd never get her this way...
