Chapter 8: It's For The Best
Michael's POV
The four of us, as in; Cam, Zach, Nate, and I, were hanging out. In a few days tour stars and we are going out of the U.S. I am so excited about going out of the country. I know the guys are just as excited as I am about this. We are actually playing Basketball at the moment. It's Nate and me vs. Zach and Cam. We are actually winning but barely, they are right behind us.
"You guys are losers!" I shouted and they just glared at me. The game ended up as a tie and we are beat. "
Guys I'm tired and all sweaty." Zach complained
"Me too." I agreed
"Let's go to my house." Cameron suggested. We got in my car and left the park.
"Let's get in your pool." Zach said
"Alright." Cam said
"You know what we need to do?" I ask them
"What?" they ask
"Let's throw a pool party before we leave." I said
"Here?" Cam asks
"Noooo at Zach's." I said sarcastically
"I overheard my mom talking on the phone and they are planning a surprise going away party." Zach said
"When?" Cam asks
"Either today or tomorrow." Zach said
"That's right, we leave on Monday." Cam said
"I guess we will have to postpone the pool party." I said
"Um guys." Nate said nervously
"What?" we all ask
"Um... I have something important to say." he said
"Then tell us." Zach said
"Does it involve us?" Cam asked
"Yes." Nate said looking away
"What is it?" I asked
"Well first off, you know I love you guys right?" he asked
"Ok what happened?" I asked
"I- I love everything we have been through together and you know how much the band means to me and everything is going so great, but I- I want to try something different and Zach, I have nothing against you-" he was saying
"What does this have to do with me?" Zach interrupted
"Let him finish." Cam said
"Like I said Zach, I don't have nothing against you but I want to try out being a- a solo artist. I love you guys and the band but I want to branch out. I know I should have said this sooner and- and I hope you guys can forgive me for doing this. I- I hope you can understand and see how hard this is for me." he said and we remained speechless for a while.
"Did we do something?" I asked
"No you guys didn't do anything wrong. It's not you, it's me." Nate said and Zach rolled his eyes.
"Please never say that line again. I'm sorry but I hate it when people say that, especially when someone is breaking up with you. No one cares. Sorry. I'll shut up now." Zach said
"Are you sure we didn't do anything to get you mad at us?" Cam asked
"No. I'm not even mad at you guys." he said
"Is this what you really want?" Zach asked
"... Yes." Nate said
"Are you just leaving the band or our lives too?" I asked
"Not unless you guys want me to." he said
"Ok good." I said
"So you guys don't hate me?" he asked
"No." we said
"I'm really sorry guy." he said getting up and ran out.
"Nate!" we called after him but he kept going.
"What are we going to do?" Zach asked
"I don't know..." I said
"We have to tell the fans." Cam said then we stayed quiet for a long time.
"How do you guys feel about this?" I asked
"It's crazy. I didn't see it coming." Cam said
"I don't know what to think... It was so sudden... I always thought we would make it far together... Oh well, as long as he is happy." Zach said
"This is going to be so different. I wonder how the fans are going to take this." I said
We just post the news on Facebook and we got flooded with replies. The guys and I just looked at each other and said nothing.
"I'm going home." Zach said standing up.
"Me too." Cam said
"I'll give you guys a ride." I said. After we dropped off Cam I decided to stay with Zach. We hangout and just talked then his sister walked in.
"Hey." we said
"Hey Little Bro, hey Little Bro's friend." she said
"I'm not little." Zach whined
"Yes you are." she said pinching his cheeks and he quickly moved away.
"Aww you are so cute." she said messing up his hair. It's so funny to see Zach get bothered like that.
"So what brings you here?" I asked
"I came to see if Zach would teach me how to surf." she said
"How did you know I surf?" he asked
"I was looking at pictures of you on the internet and saw one of you with a surf board." she said
"Wanna teach her?" he asked me
"Ok." I said
"You're not taking Cameron?" she asked
"Yea let's go get him." I said. We got to the beach and a lot of people were there for us. There was our family and our friends.
"W-what's this for?" Cam asked still in shock.
"It's your going away party." his mom said
"Oh I see. You guys are celebrating that we are leaving." Zach joked
"Yeah because we can't wait to have you out the house." his dad joked
"You're part of this aren't you?" Zach asked his sister.
"Of course, I had to be here to say bye to my little brother." she said pinching his cheek again and he rolled his eyes.
"Want me to tell you a little secret about Zach?" Kira asked Madeline
"Sure." she said "Zach is very ticklish." Kira said grinning.
"Oh really now." Madeline said smirking
"Don't even think about it." Zach said
"So do you actually want to know how to surf?" I asked her.
"No." she said and Zach quickly picked her up and ran towards the water. Cam joined them and I stayed with Kira. We sat on the sand watching Zach and Cam trying to teach Madeline to surf. I told her about Nathan and she said she read about that. All of a sudden Madeline ran towards up.
"What happened?" Kira asked
"I quit. Surfing sucks." she said
"Come back in with me." Zach said
"No." she said
"Aw. Please." Zach said giving her the puppy dog face.
"No." she said looking away from him
"Why not?" he asked looking sad, "Please." Zach begged making his eyes big.
"Fine but don't look at me like that." she said
"Look am you how?" he asked
"You're lucky you're cute, let’s go." she said. They went back in the water and Cam stayed with us. The four of us talked to other friends and had a great time.
Our friends left and now it’s just us and our families. We are sitting together around a camp fire, most of the time we just stayed quiet enjoying each other's company.
"I'm going to miss you when you're gone." my mom said
"I'll miss you guys too." I said
"Promise me you guys will take care. I want you all safe." Mrs. Porter said
"Stop worrying." Zach said hugging her.
"I'm serious. Promise me you guys will take care. Zach promise me that." Mrs. Porter said
"We will be fine." Zach said
"Promise." she insisted
"I promise." Zach said and kissed his check.
"Remember what we talked about." Mr. Porter said
"Yes Dad." Zach said like a little boy in trouble.
"I'm worried about you guys leaving to Europe. I almost lost your sister, I don't want to lose you too." Mrs. Quiseng said
"The guys and I will be fine, nothing to worry about. If it makes you feel any better we will look after each other." Cam said. Our mom's were hugging us like if we were little kids. Then I felt someone behind me. It was Nathan.
"I'm sorry I just left you back there." he said
"Why are you here? I totally didn't mean that in a bad way." Zach said
"I wanted to say sorry about everything and hoped to find you here." Nathan said
"Sit." Cam said making some space.
"You guys don't hate me?" Nathan asked
"Of course not." I said
"We're still a family." Kira said.

thank you all so much for reading this :)not allstar weekend related but im doing a research on children and trauma and its so sad because i read that a little girl got raped by her grandpa for 3 years and an other little gril got tricked by her cousin into doing something i dont think you will like to know. guys can be such creeps a times grr anyway stay safe!
