Sugar Rush

02

Sidney stood off to the side, a cup of water in his hand, as he at the moment had been abandoned by the sick kids as they all gathered around Marc-Andre doing something strange and stupid again. His eyes scanned the room and found Jordan staring halfway across the room like he’d been doing most the night when he didn’t have a kid to focus on. Sidney already knew where those eyes were at, the one person in the room Jordan had yet to speak to- His supposed future wife. It wasn’t that the blonde giant hadn’t tried but it was as if Loraine was dragging him around, every time he got close she ran off with another kid and somehow the kid she’d been with ran right to Jordan stopping him in his tracks. It was like a sick game.

A sick game he was thoroughly enjoying watching.

Then again he wasn’t one to talk. His eyes always shifted to her and he hadn’t even made a move to talk to her. Atleast Jordan had tried to talk to the woman he was lusting after. Sidney was too much or coward to do so.

“You scratch my back, I’ll scratch yours.” He turned looking at Loraine. He stopped as she moved directly in front of him, blocking Jordan’s view of his reaction and Loraine’s face.

“What’d you mean?” He asked confused.

“I’ve seen the way you stare.” She walked her fingers across his shoulder to jab him with one of her fake nails right in soft tissue of it. He grimaced at the feeling but tightened his jaw and lips. “You’re all eyes for the Cupcake lady.”

Caught red handed.

“I’m not blind.” She cooed. “So scratch my back I’ll scratch yours.” Sidney eyed her. “I think she could atleast use a good…roll in the hay with a big old, hot, hockey player to boost her confidence and self-esteem at the least…maybe more if that’s where you to take it.” Sidney licked his lips. He saw Jordan had shifted and bobbed his head.

“What do you want me to do?” He’d never agreed to anything quicker that he could think of. Not even signing with the NHL, he’d pretended put some thought into like his father had told him to. But this, no, he wanted this just as badly only he didn’t have dear old Dad telling him to take his tame and make the right moves at the right time. No this was like on the ice, if he got an opening to take a shot, he took it.

“Good boy.” She teased patting his chest. “Oh, firm good boy…” She added. “Now…I’m done playing ring around the dessert tables, but…” She fluttered her lashes. “A girl’s still gotta have her fun.” Sidney only smiled realizing he was about to be asked to play apart in her and Jordan’s sick little game. “I want to you to escort me around, I’ve meet most the players…just not all of them.” She raised her brows and Sidney nodded. “That’s it.”

Sidney simply placed his arm around her waist and turned her to the crowd.

“Have you meet some of my friends?” He asked he with a wide smile. Loraine simply giggled and shrugged.

“Not really.” She played along. Sidney nodded and showed her around slowly. Purposefully avoiding Jordan at first.

“Hey Jordan.” Sidney finally reached the tall blonde who had a kid attached to him. Jordan forced a smile at the two, having watched them the whole time. “Have you meet Loraine yet?” He asked. “Hey there.” He smiled at the kid and gave the little boy a high-five.

“No. I haven’t.” Jordan stated. “This is Timmy though.” He pointed at the boy who waved shyly. Loraine cooed at him.

“Aren’t you just one of the most precious little boy’s I’ve seen.” She stated crouching right next to Jordan who looked ready to die for proximity…or sniff her hair. Sidney wasn’t quite sure since neither action was a Jordan Staal thing to do. The little boy only flushed and giggled as he adjusted his oxygen mask on his face. The little boy had muscle and skeletal deformities and by his reaction to her complement he wasn’t used to being told he was precious looking. “You’re very handsome with that tie on.” She added. Timmy shuffled in his chair and shrugged. “You pick it out yourself?” She asked.

“Why wouldn’t he pick it out himself?” Jordan asked, clearly back to his senses. Loraine glanced at him for a second startled. “This little stud knows how to get all the ladies, don’t ya buddy?” Jordan asked. Timmy only giggled and gasped for a few breaths.

“I’d have to say so with those looks and that tie.” Loraine agreed. Jordan looked ready to die and Sidney was on the verge of teasing his teammate for the puppy-love look he was giving Loraine

“My-My mom picked it out.” Timmy stuttered.

“No need to be modest.”

Sidney watched as Loraine tried to subtly shoo him away. Taking the hint he wandered off, stopping to talk to a few kids and play with them and cater to them in any way possible. It was then his mind rolled back to how Loraine was going to scratch his back and help him get in good with her friend? Hell he didn’t even know her first name he realized. Miss Gully. That’s all he had to go on. He thought he’d heard a few people call her Allison or Allie but he couldn’t really be sure.

He looked up and saw her with a little girl, getting her a cupcake. His eyes caught the little girls, which lit up like Christmas lights. Smiling he waved at her only to stop surprised as she took her cupcake in one hand and Miss Gully’s hand in the other, dragging the woman towards him.

“I got you covered.” He heard behind him. Turning startled he watched as Loraine went by with a smirk on her face.

“Hi!” His head turned back to the little girl who’d pulled Miss Gully along. He smiled at her and then crouched down next to the little girl. “I’m Lisa!” She gasped happily.

“I’m Sid!” He stated happily. “Looks like you got one of those cupcake’s there. Is that your first one tonight?” Lisa looked down at her cupcake and shook her head wildly. “Letang?” He asked seeing the number on the top of the cupcake. Lisa giggled.

“Yeah…” She flushed. “I like his hair.” She added. Sidney let out a hearty laugh as Miss Gully did as well. He noticed Lisa still had a firm grip on Miss Gully’s hand.

“I think everyone likes his hair.” Miss Gully stated with a giggle.

“Not as much as me!” Lisa stated seriously. Sidney raised his eye brows at her words and laughed with a smile. “Do you like his hair Miss Allison?” He’d been right about her name. His eyes moved to him.

“Yes, but clearly not as much as you.” Allison laughed. She laughed as Lisa nodded and turned back to Sidney Crosby with huge doe eyes.

“But you’re my favorite player!” Lisa shot. Sidney smiled.

“Yeah? Why’s that?” He asked.

Allison watched as the two talked for a moment. Every time she tried to pull her hand from Lisa’s so she could spend time with Sidney she found the little girl looking back at her with a smile and gripping her hand a bit tighter letting her know she wasn’t going anywhere.

“You wanna share my cupcake with me!?” Lisa gasped loudly. Sidney looked stunned but smiled and nodded. Lisa however stopped. “Wait…” She whispered. Turning she looked at Allison who’d finally crouched behind her. “I…um…” Lisa looked at Sidney then back at Allison. She could see the wheels turning in the little girls head. “I promised to share with Miss Allison.” Lisa had offered to share her cupcake with Allison before she’d spotted Sidney. Lisa’s little eyes dropped to her cupcake them back to the two of them. “I don’t think I have enough to share with us all…” She sniffled sadly. Sidney wrapped an arm around her.

“It’s okay Lisa, I don’t need any. It’s the thought that counts.” Allison said before Sidney could say anything. She caught his eye only to quickly turn them to the confused and slightly distraught girl.

“No!” Lisa gasped. “I…” She worried her bottom lip. “I wanna share with both of you…” She pouted.

“Hey it’s okay.” Sidney tried. Lisa shook her head and sniffled. Allison and Sidney looked at each other for an answer. It was then the Allison stood up making Lisa whine.

“I’ll be right back, okay sweetie. I think I have an idea.” Lisa nodded weakly. Both Lisa and Sidney watched Allison walk off.

Allison found a few small plates and plastic knife before heading back to Sidney and Lisa who’d move to a small table. Lisa still looked utterly distraught over how’d she share her cupcake with them. “Okay.” Allison smiled as she sat next to them. Lisa looked at all three plates. “I think I know how this is going to work, may I?” She pointed at the little girl’s cupcake.

Lisa nodded handing over the cupcake and watching as Allison peeled the wrapped off it, cutting it into three almost equal pieces. Two were slightly smaller and one was bigger. Allison had full intensions to give Lisa the bigger piece and hope the little girl didn’t pick a smaller piece.

“How’s that?” Allison laughed at Lisa’s over-joyed features. “Now pick a piece.” Lisa’s face screwed up at the thought of picking.

“No!” Lisa stated sternly. Her little word full of attitude shocked both Allison and Sidney into simply staring at her, floundering. “You pick first!” Lisa giggled.

“Sweetie it’s your cupcake! You pick first!” Allison laughed.

“Yeah. Pick your piece.” Sidney bounced her on his knee as he spoke. Lisa simply shook her head.

“You two pick first!” Lisa crossed her arms in defiance. Sidney and Allison looked at each other again before they both sighed knowing the little girl was going to get her way.

Allison simply pointed at one of the smaller pieces saying she’d take that piece. Sidney also pointed at the other smaller piece claiming it. It left the big piece for Lisa just like Allison had wanted. They all took their piece and Lisa and Sidney both stopped at Allison tearing the bottom part of the cupcake off.

“Why’d you that?” Lisa asked looking at the frosted top park or Allison’s plate.

Allison looked at it, laughing and smiled. Sidney simply stared with a raised brow at the smile and laugh. The way her red lips formed a perfect smile around her white teeth, her blue eyes shimmered, and the way her hair shifted over her shoulder and into her face slightly as her head tipped to the side while she laughed.

He wanted to kiss those lips, run his hand through her long dark locks and pull her closer to him with it as he…

Shaking his head slightly he licked his lips slowly. He had to get his hormones in check.

“Because I eat the bottom of it first.” Allison poked Lisa’s nose.

“Why?” Lisa demanded. “Do you do that?” She asked up at Sidney who hadn’t said much. He shook his head.

“I think it’s a little weird too.” He admitted. Lisa threw her arms up in a way that just screamed ‘right?!’ at him with wide eyes that said the same thing. He laughed at her as Allison did.

Allison watched the way his lips stretched across his teeth into a perfect smile, his eyes lit up, and his handsome features seemed to glow. It didn’t help that his suit jacket and dress shirt hugged around his built chest, shoulders, and arms as he gave the smallest shrug at he spoke.

How she wanted to kiss those pillow lips, dig her nails into the flesh of his arms and shoulders as she held them tight and…

She curled her lips in slightly and licked them slowly as she mentally slapped herself for her thoughts. She had to get her hormones in check.

“I eat the bottom first,” She pointed at Lisa. Clearing her throats as her thoughts still lingered in her mind. “Because I save the frosted top for last since it’s my favorite.” Lisa pursed her lips and looked at her piece of cupcake in her little hands before skeptically looking at Allison.

Allison couldn’t believe she’d just been given that look from a little girl. Her gaze caught Sidney’s highly amused gaze at the look Lisa had thrown her a few times in a row. He shrugged again, his mouth floundering as he caught Allison’s gaze, trying not to laugh at the scene before him.

Lisa finally ripped the bottom of her cupcake off as well and stuffed it all into her mouth in one go. Sidney and Allison both tensed up at the amount of cake that had just gone into the tiny girl’s mouth. She chewed it happily with a smile at them.

With a laugh Allison pulled a few crumbs from the girls face and placed them on her plate. Sidney looked at Lisa who was watching him carefully, as if telling him to jump on the bandwagon. He didn’t need the look more than once from Lisa before he ripped the bottom off his cupcake and took a bite of it. Lisa nodded at him approvingly as she turned to Allison who also took a bite of her cupcake.

“Can I join your guys weird little family here?” They all looked up at Kris Letang who looked rather sheepish for invading. Sidney laughed at his friend, slightly irritated by his appearance. Kris gave him a look though that made Sidney eye him a bit worried, he looked scared.

Lisa however squealed in complete delight and through herself at the defensemen. Kris barely caught the girl and looked at Sidney with a look that he caught as ‘sorry’. Lisa demanded Kris take her to get them a cupcake they could share since she’d already finished her piece she’d shared with Sidney and Allison.

“Sorry.” Kris laughed at them but did as the demanding little girl asked.

“Well, that wasn’t weird…” Sidney mused to himself. Allison laughed and nodded. He smiled at her. “Sidney.” He held his hand out. She looked at it before taking it carefully.

“Allison.” She stated with a smile. He nodded watching as she went back to carefully picking at her cupcake. He barely caught sight of Loraine behind Allison give him a wink and suddenly understood Lisa’s show had been to get them together and Kris had probably been threatened to come over and remove Lisa from their group.

Loraine was good. He had to give her that.

“So, cupcakes…?” He asked. She looked up at him with a raised brow. “What made you decided to do all of this,” he waved a light hand at the table of desserts not too far off. “For a living?”

“What made you pick hockey?” She asked carefully. He put a small piece of cupcake in his mouth. He had to admit her desserts were absolutely mouth- watering. Just like she was.

“I love it.” Sidney shrugged as if it was obvious.

“Exactly.” She stated simply. Putting a piece in her mouth she shrugged back at him. Sidney only raised a brow. “I love baking.” She added. He nodded.

“You’re amazing at it.” Sidney mused truthfully. He put another small piece in his mouth. “I’m sure I just destroyed my whole diet with one bite and I don’t care.” He laughed. Allison flushed at his comment while averting her gaze.

“Thank you. You’re pretty amazing at what you do as well.” She responded.

“You watch hockey?” Though, he really wanted to ask if she watched him play hockey.

“When I find the time.” She smiled.

“What’s your favorite team?” He was quick to respond. She only smiled at him coyly. He watched as she stood up slowly.

“Spoilers.” She chimed in a sing-song voice while gently poking his nose. Sidney frowned and watched her walk away.

She had to get away from him. Her hormones were running wild. Her mind tried to figure out the last time she’d had sex and came up utterly blank. Her body craved his and if she didn’t get away from him then she was going to lose it in front of everyone in the room.

Sidney however, wasn’t easily discouraged or one to give up easily. He watched her leave though trying to formulate another plan in his head.
