If I Was Your Boyfriend

one hundred seventy-four.

‘Baby!’ Justin shouts with Scooter right behind him. A white paper was held tightly in his hand. ‘It’s finally here.’

I sit down anxiously as he flops down beside me. He finally got the results from the test with Jayde. Justin’s fingers sloppily tear open the letter, I was sure he’d rip the letter itself. I hold my breath carefully gaze over the paper in his shaking hands.

‘It doesn’t match.’ He exhales heavily, a smile already growing on his face. ‘It doesn’t match Chris. I’m not the father!’

Without a word I wrap my arms around his neck, holding him tight. He lets out a sigh of relief burying his face into my collar bone. It was actually over. Jayde was completely behind us. Funny enough, a part of me felt somewhat guilty for celebrating. At one point in time Jayde probably thought she had something special with him. She probably envisioned some type of life with him, only to be smacked with the hard truth. Scooter silently celebrates in the corner of the room.

‘Alright! Are you ready for the show?’ Scooter rubs his hands together excitedly.

‘Let’s do it!’ Justin nods releasing me, ‘can’t keep the fans waiting any longer.’

I grab a hold of his tattooed arm, following him to the group huddle. He leaves a kiss on my cheek as one of the dancers leads tonight’s good luck speech.

‘Good luck out there Jay.’ I sneak in a kiss right before he was going on stage.

‘Thank you baby.’

I watch proudly as he hovers in air in his glass box. Scooter stands beside me while we watch from the crowd with adoring fans. The moment the show’s over my stomach gets that annoying swelling feeling, knowing I had to get back to LA. Chloe and Nikki had more meetings this week lined up with potential sponsorships. I grab my bag and Rocky’s things while waiting for Justin in his dressing room.

‘Don’t go.’ Justin murmurs drying his wet hair with a fluffy towel, ‘stay with me – please. I am willing to beg.’

‘You know I want to.’ I laugh falling into his arms, ‘but I have to go.’

‘Fine,’ he caves in, a genuine smile on face. ‘Only if you come back soon.’

‘Deal, very soon.’

Unfortunately, Justin had to get on the bus that would take him to his next location.

‘Are you ready for the airport, Chrissy?’

‘Coming.’ I call, turning back to face Justin. ‘I better get going.’

‘Safe travels, call me as soon as you get settled.’

‘I will I love you.’

‘I love you,’ he repeats kissing my forehead then bending over to pick up Rocky, ‘bye Rock.’

Justin and I hug once more before going our separate ways. As I’m in the back of the SUV I could see the lights to the large tour bus come to life. The security helps with my bags and Rocky once I get to the airport. While waiting, I pull out my phone looking at the pictures from my weeks with Justin.

@ChrissyThorton: had the most amazing time on the purpose tour and meeting you guys there! LA, I’m coming home.
@ChrissyThorton: missing you already.

With second tweet, I attach a picture of Justin and I laying in the tour bus the other night. It wasn’t long until I landed at LAX, crowded as usual. The security manages to keep the aggressive paparazzi back as we make our way to the exit.

‘Chrissy can we please take a picture with you?’ A fan wonders trailing behind with a younger girl.

‘Of course.’ I agree coming to a quick stop.

I’m ushered into a blacked out car before they could get any more pictures to sell.

‘Miss Chrissy, welcome home.’ Harmon greets me as I slide out the car.

‘It’s good to be back, Harmon. How are thing around here?’

‘Quiet, strangely. Felt a little dull without you to be truthful ma’am.’

‘Oh Harmon – always making me feel extremely at home.’

‘Of course ma’am, have a good night.’

As soon as Rocky and I make it to the apartment we collasp in the bed. It felt like I was sleep for a mere few minutes before my alarm was going off. With the help of a hot shower I head out the door for today’s meetings. On my way to the car I see I had a new text from Justin.

Someone didn’t call last night lol I’m sure ur sleep so I love you and talk to u later – Justin.

Good morning! Sorry I guess I was more tired than I thought. Facetime tonight? I love you – Chrissy.

‘Welcome back to LA!’ Chloe cheers as I walk through the door, ‘how was the tour?’

‘It was great but it’s good to be back.’

‘So glad to have you back – are you ready to work?’

‘Very much so. I hate being off.’

‘Good, because we have plenty of things lined up.’

Turns out, Adidas wanted to offer me an extended contract of two years where I’d design more shoes and a line of clothes. I got an offer from Covergirl to be a brand ambassador. My phone chiming in my purse interrupts the meeting.

‘Mark, hi.’ I say the moment I step into the hall.

Mark was the prosecutor in Carter’s trial. He’s been prepping Justin and me for our testimonies. I still couldn’t believe just how close the trial was.

‘Hello Chrissy – I wanted to touch base with you and see if we could set up a time to get one last meeting in before the trial starts.’

‘Any time this week.’ I swallow, my legs already feeling like Jell-O.

In a little over two weeks I would be in court room with Carter. He stalked and abducted me. He claimed my life for months – I couldn’t sleep let alone breathe with him constantly lurking in the shadows. I was always looking over my shoulder – dreading the day he comes into my room again. The same man haunted Justin, he attacked him on more than one occasion. He even had our families on edge, always living in fear. I knew that we were meeting in a court room with plenty of people to protect me and that he wouldn’t be able to even breathe in my direction.

‘Chrissy are you there?’ Mark questions cutting into my wandering thoughts.

‘Yeah, sorry. Just email me whatever day works for you and I’ll be there.’

‘Alright sounds good.’

I slip into one of the stalls pacing back and forth as much as the tiny space would allow. I grab one of the pills out of my purse and pop into my mouth, dying to ease my anxiety. Carter is gone and soon enough, he’ll be put away for good. He cannot hurt you – or Justin, ever again.

Justin’s Point of View

Yeah, okay – see you then Mark.’ I say hanging up the phone walking back from my secret area on the tour bus. ‘So where were we?’ I ask aloud sitting back on the sofa.

‘I was just about to show you my favorite designs of your ideas that we put together.’

I eagerly watch as he flips open the velvet box revealing the impressively bright diamonds.

‘So engagement rings, huh?’

‘That’s the plan.’
