The Future is Now

Sophies POV:
The next morning i woke up to our bed moving, it was still dark outside so i tryed to get back to sleep. When i was almost asleep i heard someone throwing up. I got out of bed and went over to the bathroom, i pushed the door open and Alex was sitting indian style infront of the toilet and had his mouth on the edge of the seat.

"You okay babe?" i asked

"Fine go back to bed" he said

"No, what happened?" i asked

"I dont know i woke up with this weird pain cramp feeling in my stomach and i felt nauseous" he said

"Oh well maybe you should see a doctor" i said

"Ive got you" he laughed

"No. Like your doctor, someone who can legally hand you prescriptions that knows your history. We've been over this" i said

"Im fine probably just like food poinsoning or something" he said

"Theres somthing going around. And its horrible. I really hope your right" i said

"I know my body, i'll be fine" he said

"Fine" i said

"Mommy?" Casey said walking in

"Go back to bed" i said

"Whats wrong with daddy?" she asked as Alex started puking again

"Nothing hes sick. Go back to your room, i dont want you getting sick to" i said and she left

"Seriously im fine" Alex said

"I dont believe you but fine" i said and went back to bed

The next morning i got up and go ready for work. I and and left a little after 6, i do wish my hours were different because 6 is to early. I was pretty busy all day, i had lots of patients. After working for a few hours i got to take my break. I walked into the break room and my friend Dani was there.

"Hey Sophie" she said

"Hey" i said

"You look really tired" she laughed

"I am. I had to get up in the middle of the night last night and then had a hard time getting back to sleep" i said

"Why'd you get up?" she asked

"Alex was really sick" i said

"Oh god i hope its not that flu that everyone seems to have" she said

"I hope not. He said he had pain in his stomach, sounds like food poisoning" i said

"Yeah. That or a burst appendix" she said

"No thats not it" i said

"Has he had his burst?" she asked

"Not that i know of" i said

"Well then its totally possible" she said

"Cant be. He didnt seem like he was in huge amounts of pain" i said

"Yeah. Maybe hes good at hiding it" she said

"I dont know" i said

"Well either way, he needs to be checked out" she said and i nodded

The rest of the day went how it usually goes, there wasnt anything exciting happening. At about 5 i finally got to go home. When i got home i walked in and Jack was sitting on the floor color with the twins, Alex was nowhere in sight which worried me.

"Hey guys" i said

"Mommy!" Casey said coming over to me

"Hey!, how was school?" i asked

"Good" she said

"Glad to hear it" i said

"Long day?" Jack asked

"Totally, wheres Alex?" i asked

"Sleeping...or atleast i think he is. He had me pick these two up from school and checked on him and he seemed really bad. I decided to stay and havnt heard a peep coming from your room" he said

"Oh. Hopefully hes asleep" i said

"Yep" he said

"Im gonna go see if hes okay" i said and Jack nodded while not taking his eyes off the coloring book

I walked into our bedroom and Alex was out cold with Cloud, i was so relieved that he was resting. I changed into comfortable clothing and then my phone started to ring. I hit ignore and looked over at Alex, he was starting to wake.

"Hey" he said

"Hi. Feeling better?" i asked

"Nope. This pain is like excruciating" he said

"Really?, where is the worst of it?" i asked sitting next to him

"On my right side" he said and i could see the sweat on his forehead

"Mkay, this may hurt but just tolerate it" i said and pressed on his side

"Owww!, what the hell!. God that hurt" he said

"Really?" i said

"Yes. Dont touch me anymore" he said

"Can you move?" i asked

"No. Go away" he said

"Nope not happening. Jack get in here and get Alex into the car and i'll get the twins" i said and yelled to Jack

"Whats going on?" Alex said

"Your going to the ER" i said

"Whats up?" Jack asked walking in

"Alex's appendix is totally screwed. Can you carry him to the car while i get the twins in, we'll leave them with Rian" i said

"Sure" Jack said

"Im fine!" Alex said

"To bad" i said and left the room

We left the twins at Rians house and took Alex to the hospital. They took Alex back for blood tests and me and Jack stayed in Alexs room. A little while after Alex came back the doctor walked in, he looked pretty concerned.

"So Alex, looks like you've got a burst appendix" the doctor said

"What!?" Alex said

"Is it seriously that surprising?" Jack laughed

"Shut up" Alex said

"Calm down, so he needs surgery right?" i said and then asked the doctor

"Yes he will. I will arrange for it to be done in the morning" the doctor said

"Great surgery, how did i get stuck with this!" Alex said

"Relax its a simple surgery. It'll be done in a hour and then you'll be in recovery and will get to go home the day after that" the doctor said

"See babe, easy" i said

"Will you stay here with me tonight?" Alex asked me

"I cant we have kids. But i'll be here bright and early after i drop the kids off at school" i said

"Damnit!, Jack will you stay?" Alex asked

"Sure. I'll just call Melinda and let her know" Jack said

"Thank you!. Atleast someone loves me" Alex said

"I love you. But i need to take care of our children" i said

"I know. Will you call my mom for me?" he asked

"Sure, i'll call her when i get home. I forgot my phone" i said and he nodded

I stayed with Alex for a little while longer and then i went to get the kids and went home. I called Alexs mom and she seemed concerned, then again who could blame her?. The next morning when i arrived at the hospital they were prepping Alex for surgery.

"Hey" Jack said

"Hey, how'd last night go?" i asked

"Fine" he said

"Im back- oh hi Sophie" Alexs mom said walking in the room

"Hi" i said

"They put Alex on something, not sure what but hes very relaxed" she said

"I bet. Hey babe" i said walking over to the bed

"Sophie!" Alex said

"I guess your excited to see me" i laughed

"I wouldnt take it personally. He got excited when he saw me" Jack said walking over

"They have me hooked up to a IV of meds. Its so good" Alex said tugging on the needle a bit

"Im sure it is. Dont pull" i said and he whinned

"Okay were gonna need to take him now" the doctor said

"Alright. Love you Alex" i said and Jack and his mom said bye to him

"Later hoes" Alex said as they wheeled him out of the room

"I like drugged up Alex" Jack said

"Of course you do" i said and rolled my eyes
