I Must Be Blind, to Not Have Seen the Signs

“Henry! My man, what are you doing here?” I asked as the familiar boy walked though the door. “I thought Tommy was coming to interview us today?”

“Yeah he’s sick so im afraid your stuck with me”

“Nah mate, its all good” I smiled, and it was only then I caught sight of the girl standing behind him. She was tall-ish but slim with a mass of wavy brown hair on her head and eyes so dark they looked almost black. She was gorgeous to say the least, and the fact she looked so shy and awkward standing there made her slightly more attractive.

What can I say; us guys love a damsel in distress.

Henry caught onto my line of vision and saw I was looking at the girl before he grabbed her hand and pulled her lightly so she was next to him. “Oh josh, this is my girlfriend Philippa. See I was supposed to have the day off but they called me last minute so I figured I’d just bring her with Me.” he explained, bumping his hip against hers lightly. “She wont get in the way I promise” He joke and she smiled lightly. She had such a beautiful smile.

“Nah its cool. Nice to meet you Philippa, I’m josh” I said holding my hand out. She took it in hers and for a petite girl she had quite a strong grip.

“Nice to meet you too josh, and please, call me pip” she said smoothly. Her voice was deeper than I was expecting, but it was that sexy deep, the kind of deep where you want them to whisper in you ear and-

Okay she has a boyfriend and I need to stop.

“Okay, Pip” I smiled and popped the last p and she let out a small laugh.

“Right I’ll set up over there, if you can get the rest of them ready I’ll start in about 15 minutes” Henry said and let go of her hand, just leaving her standing there.

“Fancy coming with me?” I asked and she nodded. We left the room as Henry set up. “Im gonna warn you, they could be anywhere” I joked and she giggled lightly.

“Well I’m afraid I’m really not gonna be that much use, I don’t know who im looking for”

“Yeah that is gonna be a problem. Well-“

“Oi josh” who’s the bird?” someone yelled as we walked onto the stage to see if the boys were in there. Sure enough max was running about, strumming various chords, but he came up to us as soon as he saw us.

“The bird has a name, it’s Pip” she smiled and stuck her hand out. So much for the quiet looking girl I thought she was. Max raised is eyebrows in what seemed like shock, but then he smiled and shook her hand.

“It’s a pleasure to meet you Pip” max said and kissed the back of her hand. “I’m max”

Smooth bastard.

“This is Henry’s girl; we’re rounding everyone up so he can interview us” I explained and he nodded in understanding.

“Okay well dan and matt were outside last time I saw them, and I think chew’s skating around here somewhere” he said and if by magic, dan and matt re entered though a side door, and chris skated over to us. “I’ll just go put this back and we’ll go” max said motioning towards his guitar and quickly rushed off.

I quickly introduced Pip to all the boys and then we all made our way back to the room Henry was in. The boys had a quick catch up with him and pip sat there just smiling contently to herself. I was sat near the door replying to a text when Bobby came to the door.

“Are you doing anything important, I need an extra hand”

“We’ve got an interview mate, is there no one else to ask?” I asked but he shook his head.

“Everyone’s sound checking things or setting up”

“I’ll help” Pip said from the corner before walking over to us “Well depending on what it is of course. I wont be good at lifting things, but ive got nothing better to do” she smiled.

“Bobby this is Pip, Henry’s girlfriend” I said and it seemed that each time I did, the words became more stale in my mouth. “Pip this is Bobby our tour manager”

“Perfect, do you mind helping me out love? And no you don’t have to lift anything”

“Sounds good”

“You’re a life saver” he smiled and he led her out of the room.

I joined the others on the sofa and Henry began the interview. We talked about the tour and the different Bands we bought with us as well as our resent tour of America, Indonesia and then Sound Wave. I didn’t mind interviews, but when you had to talk about the same shit everyday just to different people, you lose some of the excitement and spark you felt towards things at first.

Henry was great though, we’d done little interviews with him before, but this was the first big one we’d ever done with him, and he told us this was his cover piece so we added in a few exclusives to help him along the way. He was so enthusiastic that you couldn’t help but want to tell him every last detail and be over excited about it too.

All in all it took about two hours, and when we were done, Pip still hadn’t come back. Whilst the boys helped Henry pack up I went to see if she was with Bobby in the office but she wasn’t and neither was he.

I went back to the dressing room and told Henry she was probably listening to sound check and we all went towards the stage. The boys went to their respective instruments and started playing them loudly but bobby and Pip weren’t in sight.

The venue was pretty massive, but we should have been able to see them right? I was really beginning to wonder where they were until I saw a splodge of green that matched the colour jumper she was wearing at the back of the venue.

See girls don’t think boys notice things like that, but we do.

Sure enough she was there. She was with the merch guy, carrying box’s to a table whilst Bobby leant on a table, scribbling something on some paper.

“I thought you said she didn’t have to carry anything mate” I asked Bobby as I took the box from her. She smiled and if I wasn’t mistaken I thought I detected a hint of a blush and out fingers touched.

“It’s only t-shirts mate” Bobby joked and stood up. I placed the box down and them placed my arm around Pip’s shoulders.

“Well I’ll send in someone else to help, I need to steal Pip I smiled and steered her back into the venue. “You staying for sound check?” I asked and she nodded enthusiastically, hair bouncing in all different directions.

I took her back over to Henry and the sat whilst we ran through so songs. I couldn’t help but look at her. I wanted to know what she thought about them or about me or anything.

I knew I was setting myself up for a fall but I just couldn’t seem to stop.
