Be Like You

South Africa

Humming to myself I finished the meal I had been working on for the past two hours in Harry’s kitchen before setting the plates down and getting out a bottle of wine. After managing to open it I heard the front door open and I grinned knowing Harry was home.

He didn’t give me time to place down the bottle before wrapping his arms around me and kissing me forcefully, pushing me against the fridge doors. Smiling I pulled away, looking in his eyes, “I missed you.”

“I missed you too. I have a surprise” pulling away he fished for something in his pocket before handing me an envelope and watching me as I read over what the papers said.

“We’re going to South Africa?” I asked him confused.

“Will and my father have to go for business and Will is taking Kate; so I thought you could come along as well.”

Breathing in I sighed, “You want me to go on a trip with most of the entire royal family?”

Harry nodded, waiting for me to make my decision.

“Alright, when do we leave?”

A grin formed on his face, “We’d be leaving tomorrow morning.”

I slapped his arm, “How the bloody hell do you think I’ll be packed by then?”

He chuckled, “You said bloody hell.”

“Yeah, yeah. I said bloody hell you twat. But you can’t just throw that at me! Harry you know how I get about packing” banging my head against his chest he just laughed, raising my chin he pecked my lips.

“We’ll the amazing meal you cooked, head back to your place and just spend the night there”
he planned out.

“You don’t have to pack?” I asked confused.

“I’ll just stay with the same luggage that I left with.”

We spent some time at his place eating the food I had prepared before cleaning up and making our way to my apartment. I hadn’t been there in the past week due to Harry insisting
that I stay at his place rather than mine with Meagan gone.

“Baby, I can’t leave Lucas alone and Meagan doesn’t get back until Thursday. I can’t leave him alone for two days” I sighed halfway done with a suitcase.

“Is there anyone you can leave him with?”

Looking through my phone’s contacts, internally battling my conscious I pressed the call button waiting for the person to answer.

Just when I thought no one would answer, the phone was picked up, “Lizzie?”

Sighing I ran a hand through my hair, “Hi. I know we haven’t talked in a bit and I wouldn’t ask for if I didn’t have anyone else. But could you watch Lucas for me? I’m going on a trip and Meagan’s gone on business.”

He laughed, “Ya, no problem I love that little guy. When are ya’ leaving?” he asked.

“Tomorrow morning; if it’s not too much could you come get him tonight? I’m only going to be gone until Monday or Tuesday”

“Don’t worry ‘bout it Lizzie. I’ll be there in half an hour.”

Hanging up I quickly finished packing, even if it was mid November; the weather in South Africa would still be scorching hot. Knowing Harry would be in multiple meetings throughout the days I packed plenty of bathing suits and casual outfits along with formal and semi-formal.

The doorbell rang right after I finished putting Lucas’s things together, opening the door I hugged him tightly, “Thank you so much Niall. Really you’re a life saver” I beamed letting him in.

“Don’t worry about it Liz” he chuckled, “And I won’t tell Haz if you don’t want me to.”

I shook my head, “It doesn’t matter. I’ve missed you Nialler” hugging him quickly I pulled away and picked up Lucas, “Thank you so much again, I don’t know what I would if you said no.”

Chuckling he took Lucas from me, “Don’t worry ‘bout it. Lucas and I are gonna have fun at the bachelor pad” he laughed.

Kissing Lucas on the top of his head I handed Niall everything else he need and watched him walk away before closing the door.

“Have you been to South Africa before?” Kate asked as we walked into one of her favorite stores while the guys where in a meeting.

I shook my head looking at a dress, “No, I’ve been to Kenya and Egypt but that’s about it. It’s my first time here.”

She nodded, “Now tell me about touring, how great is it?”

Smiling I looked at her, “It’s honestly the best feeling in the world. Sure it can get tiring to live on that bus but knowing you’re doing it for your fans and getting to perform almost every night. I wouldn’t give it up for the world.”

A smile broke on her face, “You give off this type of excitement when you talk about your career. It’s inspiring.”

“Inspiring? No, that’s you. You got a fairy tale ending that every girl wishes she could get, that Kate is inspiring” I assured her.

“That could be you and Harry soon” she teased.

Giggling I shrugged my shoulders, “We’ve only been together a few months. We’re not rushing into anything yet.”

“That’s good though, you’ll more time with your career before you would have to put a hold to it” she mused.

I knew what she was talking about, as much as Clarence House did support my relationship with Harry even if I was a performer; they would enforce me to stop my career and do the royal duties like Kate was doing at the moment.

“I won’t be ready to give up my career for a long time Kate” I murmured looking at her.

“And that’s alright, look at how long it took Will and I.” she shrugged it off.

“But you two broke up for a while” looking at her confused I waited for her answer.

“Yes, it was a hard road to end up here. But it was worth it and I’m happy where I am now.”She pointed out.

We continued shopping and I ignored what she had said about my career; Harry and I weren’t even that close to even consider marriage and I was okay with that.

Giggling I held on to Harry as he ran into the water carrying me over his shoulder, “Harry don’t!” I exclaimed hoping he wouldn’t throw me in the water.

“Sorry love” he laughed throwing me in the water.

Floating up I glared at him as I moved my wet hair to the side, “Fuck you Harry” I whined adjusting my bikini top.

“You love me” he retorted, not paying attention to my insult.

Scoffing I smirked at him, “I wouldn’t be so sure about that”

Sending me a look he tackled me into the water, continuing to splash me until I told him otherwise. We spent another hour or two in the water before drying off and heading back to
the hotel.

“I’m actually glad I’m not the eldest” Harry murmured drawing patters on my shoulder blade. Moving around on the bed so I could look up at him I let him continue, “Will and Kate, they get the least amount of privacy at all times. I’m thankful; if I had been the oldest I would have never been able to be with you.”

“But it’s a sacrifice, and I’m sure Will doesn’t hate it” I told him softly, “He might miss the privacy at some points. But you two were born into this and you can’t change that.”

“I won’t ever have to worry about it, Will well get the crown and I’ll just be another person in
line for the thrown. I don’t want it though; even if I were the oldest I wouldn’t want it.” Harry insisted.

Pecking his lips I played with the hair on the back of his neck, “I know that. Even if you did I wouldn't care, as long as I knew you were happy.”

Harry smiled looking down at me, these were the moments that I loved when we were together; “We never did talk about that interview.”

“I meant everything I said, you came into my life when I was in a dark place and I fell for you. For your kindness, compassion and so much more.” Pouring my heart out to him I couldn’t help but feel vulnerable.

“I love you. I was going to say this sometime next week at a romantic dinner I had planned
out. But I want you to know that I love you” Harry spilled.

Biting my lip, I asked myself if I felt the same way and I did; “I love you too.”
