I'll Be There

After a while Dj decided to get out and grab a towel. He didn’t sit in the sun however, he went inside. Raven assumed he was going to change and followed him. He knew she was behind him, but he still waited until they were well inside the house before he acknowledged her. “Dj, why-“ she started, but he held his hand up. “I don’t know.” He said, staring at her. “I really don’t.” She was silent for a minute. “I’m getting the floor all wet, and I don’t want to piss off Nikki, so I’m going to change and then we’ll talk ok?” She nodded and stayed where she was. When he came out however, she was gone. He presumed she was going to change back into his stage clothes. When she didn’t come back however he went looking for her. He found her in one of the spare rooms, on the floor in a corner, balled up tightly and staring at the ground. He sat beside her in the same fashion. “Are you okay?” he asked, knowing she wasn’t. She just shook her head slowly. “If you only knew Dj…if you only knew…” He took her hand and stared into her eyes, even though she wasn’t looking back. “I’m willing to know, if you want me to.” He said politely. She didn’t respond. After a while of sitting in silence he began to notice tears forming in her eyes. “Hey” he said, wiping them away before they could spill over. “It’s ok, I’m here now you’ll be okay.” He pulled her apart from herself and hugged her tightly, feeling her tears wet his shirt. “Nikki saved my life.” She said suddenly, “You and Nikki and James, I stole the CD 3 years ago, I stopped using, I got clean, you guys saved me.” Dj was shocked at this, but he said nothing. He just continued to soothe her until she cried no more. Then he pried her off of him and looked at her red face, thinking she was beautiful no matter how much she cried. “I’m here.” He said again, trying to make it sink in. “If you are grateful to us this much, then you should trust me. Whether you need a friend or anything, I’m always here.” She nodded, looking down. This time however, Dj knew exactly what he was doing. He kissed her, long and slow, seeing if she would freak out or not. When she didn’t he continued to kiss her, slowly and sweetly, pulling back a minute later and smiling at her. Her eyes wavered as she looked at him. “I don’t understand.” Was all she said. “I’m just a special friend.” He replied.
