Her Eyes Say Yes

And gravity wants to bring me down

“Wake up beautiful,” lips pressed against her nose and her blue eyes fluttered open to meet gorgeous brown ones. Ariana yawned and snuggled closer to Alex’s bare chest. “I haven’t heard your parents yelling this morning,” he smiled softly and Ariana just grumbled that it would start sooner or later. Most parents of a teenage girl would worry about a boy being in her bed, but hers simply didn’t care. Although she loved him, Blake was the favorite.

“How long do I get to keep my gorgeous boyfriend around,” she kissed his warm lips.

“Mmm, about three days. The guys get here today, and we’re heading down south afterwards.” Ariana’s eyes brightened and Alex grinned, kissing her neck. “You know, we upgraded to our tour bus,” he hinted and Ariana’s smile grew, “And, even with a bus full of sweaty guys and their girlfriends, it does get kind of lonely for me…”

“Oh please Alex! Please, please, please! I’ve never actually been to one of your concerts.” She sat on his stomach and his hands found her waist. Her bottom lip jutted out and Alex smirked.

“If I say no?”

“I’ll cut you.” Her eyes narrowed and Alex busted out laughing before flipping them over into her pillows, as she giggled.

“Then, in light of not getting cut, I guess I’ll let you come.” Ariana let out an excited screech and wrapped her arms around his neck, hugging him to her before his lips crashed down onto hers. “Can we have some fun, baby? It’s been a whole month, and believe it or not, I’ve been a really good boy.” He was like a dog. Ariana remembered the new lingerie she had Kara pick out for her and smiled brightly before pushing him back off her. She hopped off the bed and locked her door before grabbing the back from her closer.

“I’ll be right back, be ready for me,” she winked playfully and skipped into the bathroom, pulling the door closed behind her. Right as it shut a pain eurupted in her lower stomach. Ariana let out a soft cry, but ignored it as just another cramp. She pulled her shirt off and the pain hit again, causing her to steady herself with the counter. She straightened back up and blanched when the pain swarmed her again.

“Alex,” she called softly, hoping her heard her. She took a step to the door and a crippling pain washed over her, sending her to her knees with a shocked cry. Alex walked into the bathroom and looked down, his eyes widening.

“Baby, what’s wrong?”He started to crouch down to her level, his hands helping her up. Ariana’s mouth opened and closed to form the words but no sound came out. What did come, was another pain. She screamed this time, rather loudly, and everything went black.

Alex stared at the girl in his arms. Only moments ago she was warm to the touch, but now her body seemed cold and her hands and face were clammy. He swooped her up from the ground and ran up the stairs, yelling for her parents. No answer. He cursed at them mentally and ran to his car. He turned his hazards on and hightailed it the whole way to the hospital.

It had been hours since Alex had brought her in. They had to take her to emergency surgery, and now he, Kara, Jack, Rian, Zack, Janelle, Robby, James (much to Alex’s dismay) and the rest of Ariana’s family were all sitting around the waiting room. Each member of her family was taking turned getting lunch, and it was her grandparents turn. They stood up together and held hands as they made their way passed Alex. Her grandfather, however, stopped beside him.

“Thank you, Alex. Without you there, there’s a good chance I could have lost another one of my tykes.” There was obvious pain behind his eyes, which seemed to have held up through years of pain and tears that he’d refused to cry. “I almost cried for the first time in forty-five years this morning after getting word of it. If this had turned into an announcement of the end of her…”

He stopped and took in a deep breath. “I know for sure I wouldn’t be standing here in front of everyone like a stone. She’s been the second sunshine in my life for eighteen years, next to her grandmother of course, and all I can say right now is thank you.” The older man smiled softly and continued his trek to his old Cadillac.

Alex couldn’t help but smile. He let out a sigh, worry clouding his thoughts once more after the moment of happiness passed. They still hadn’t told them what was wrong with Ariana and he had stood up to pace back and forth. Kara looked at him worriedly as she sat with Rian’s arm around her shoulders. She felt bad that she couldn’t help him, but in all honesty, we wasn’t the only one stressed over Ariana. The three other guys had gotten in only two hours ago and hadn’t even seen their families yet, only came straight to the hospital.

“Is this Ariana Blayne’s family.” Every head in the waiting room shot up and her grandparents were just coming back inside from the coffee shop down the street.

“Yes, I’m her mother, and this is my husband,” the woman Alex had only seen a few times was standing attentively, her husband beside her. He hadn’t seen them so close before, even when Ariana was in the hospital from almost being raped. Maybe it was just the fact that the rest of the family was around. Or maybe, it was the fact that the anniversary of Blake’s death was tomorrow. Either way, it wasn’t their true colors. Alex couldn’t help but shake his head in slight disgust.

“Well… your daughters in rough shape right now,” the doctor sighed and Alex’s heart dropped.
