The Lodge

Eating with Rebecca

The building was big, it did not look very wide when seen from the outside at the front, but David had read online that the resort was bigger and larger once you explored it inside. The place looked like something built out in the early eighteen hundredths, it had three floors, and a very tall tower sticking out in the middle, and at the very top it had a little room that looked like one of those light houses that guide ships at night, which had a very pointy roof.

As you walked in into the Lodge, you passed through a short hall way, which had a receptionist where people would go for to check in and out and ask anything dealing with the resort. Straight ahead, was a lobby full of tables covered by fine white cloths, draped in gold lining. On top of the tables, there where containers with many different types of food. It buffet time. To the left was a very long hallway that had restrooms and a gift shop to its sides, and at the very end of it, there was a hallway and some stairs that led to the rooms. To the right was a staircase, leading up to higher floors, and past it was a dinning room. At this hour of day it was full. David felt like a "minority" for the place was full of blonde, blue eyed people. Most of them where dressed in nice clothes, alot of them with bow ties and ties, David felt under dressed for he was only wearing red tennis shoes, jeans, and a ZZ Top t-shirt.

They all where very hungry, they had not eaten anything since yesterday because there had been no time to had breakfast, they left very early. While David's dad checked in for the stay, his sister, mom, and himself headed over to the dinning room to get a table.

A woman greeted them excitedly as they approached the dinning room. "Hello, welcome to Rebecca's lounge! right now we have a buffet going on and free sitting, you can choose any table you'd like" A very pretty young girl, she looked like she was in her mid or late twenty's, around 5"8, perfect white skin free of imperfections, piercing blue eyes and golden-blonde hair"

"Hello, we'd like a table for four, please" Margie, David's sister, said to the greeter.

"Very well, follow me please, oh and my name is Jessica, how rude of me not to introduce my self"

"REBECCA'S LOUNGE" Thats what a sign at the entrance of the lounge said. David had read that the resort was supposed to be haunted by the ghost of a chambermaid, and so most of the Resorts attractions are named after her.

Jessica led them to a square table on the far right corner of the big and wide dinning area.

"Your server will be right with you, enjoy your meal" Jessica said with a bright smile.

The place reminded David of a ship for some reason. A very fancy one. To the center of the room a man dressed in a black tuxedo played a tune on a fine hand crafted wooden piano, the tune was easy going, soothing, and pleasant to hear, a very classical sounding tune. David's dad came and sat down at the table.

"All set, we'll be staying in one of the rooms on the second floor" As Ben, David's dad, took of his cap, a waiter came up to the table with four short, glasses, they contained water, ice, and a lemon slice.

"Welcome to Rebecca's lounge, my name is Steven, I will be your server for today, what can I get for you to drink?"

"Can I have some coke?" David's dad said.

"Ill have coffee please" Susan, David's mother said to Steven as he went around the table.

Margie asked for a cappuccino. "And for you, young sir?" Steven directed his attention to David.

"Oh, uhm.... I'll have ice cold raspberry tea please" David gave Steven a faint smile

Steven smiled back. "Okay then, I'll be back with your drinks, you can go ahead and head over to help your self's, enjoy the food" And off he went.

"Tea? Why Tea? Why ICE cold tea? You should not drink diet drinks, look at you, you are so skinny, get some coke to fatten up!" Ben remarked to his son as he got up to go get a plate.

Another thing that pissed David the hell off. His dad making stupid, none nonsensical comments, and always trying to pick what David ate. Psh, always trying to choose what David DID. "It was fucking annoying!" David thought as he glared at the glass filled with water, as if trying to break it.

"Don't listen to your Dad, David" Susan said. "Stay here with out purses, we'll be right back"

Minutes later they all came back with full plates, David had to admit the food looked delicious. The buffet had a wide array of meals, pork chops, fried chicken, grilled chicken, different types of rice, soups, pastas, shrimp, crab, oysters, and many other delicious looking food. The desserts looked amazing as well, cheese cake, chocolate, cake. ICE CREAM. David fancied Ice Cream.

David ate in silence while his family talked about topics driven by his dad, and as usual, David drifted off, looking around at the other people and at the rest of the dinning room. He ate and quickly got up from the table, to walk around and look at the beautiful details this resort had. As he walked back to where they had been greeted to go into Rebecca's lounge, David stopped, and turned. Right above a table, was a "portrait" of a woman, and on the table, where papers titled "Rebecca's story"

Rebecca was the woman on the portrait. David leaned on the table to get a closer look, admiring the well done painting. "Wow, she's.... gorgeous" David said to him self. Pale, very pale skin, thick and wavy red hair that fell on her shoulders, delicate blue eyes, and full red lips. Strangely, David could not turn away, he kept staring, the portrait was eerie in a way, It seemed as if Rebecca started right back, ice cold blue eyes that started right into David's own eyes.
