Shattered Glass & Broken Hearts

I just keep feeding my addictions.

Emily's floor was littered with different articles of clothing as she and Ronnie quickly made their way from the living room towards her bedroom. Her soft moans filled the air as he lifted her up and laid her down on the mattress, his body quickly joining hers as he kissed his way down the long column of her neck.

"I've missed this for so long," he breathed against her skin as his hands brushed her hips, letting his eyes meet hers for a few brief moments before he went back to kissing her again, this time nipping the soft flesh to tease her.

Emily couldn't help but moan quietly, her body arching up against him and her nails digging half moon crescents into his shoulders as he continued kissing her like his lips were a paintbrush creating a masterpiece on its canvas. She could feel how much he loved her just by the way he was kissing her. Everything felt so much better with Ronnie than it ever had with everyone else.

It was why she'd found it so difficult to move on after he'd left her the first time.

"Baby, focus on me," Ronnie whispered, pulling her thoughts back to him as her eyes opened to find him staring down at her, concern written all over his features. "If you don't want to do this, we can wait."

She shook her head, a soft smile on her lips as she leaned up on her elbows to kiss him back.

"I want this," she promised him as she rolled them over quickly so that she was the one hovering above him. "Believe me, baby. I want this more than anything. I've missed this since you left."

She saw guilt flash across his features before she leaned over to kiss him, letting her hands wander up and down his chest. He was so much more defined now than he had been when they'd been younger. His body had filled out in all the right places, and where he'd been a scrawny drug-addicted kid ten years back, he was a strong man now; nothing but muscle defined on his limbs and clear, bright eyes to meet her own sultry gaze.

She was so proud to finally be able to call him hers again.

"I'm never going to do that to you again," he promised her as his hand brushed some hair away from her eyes. "I swear. You know I mean it, Em. I'll never hurt you like that again."

Emily nodded, because she knew that it was true. Ronnie loved her so much, and it was clear just by the look on his face. She could hear it in his voice, and she could see it in the way he was looking at her like she was the moon and the stars. He looked so passionate about her; more so than she'd ever seen him look at anything else.

It almost took her breath away.

"I need to hear you say the words again," she begged him quietly as she kissed his neck, slowly pushing her panties down her legs so that they were around her ankles as he rolled them over for a second time so that he was back on top of her.

"Need me to say what?" He taunted her as he trailed a finger down her stomach. "That you're the most important thing in my life? That I regret every day I spent without you by my side?" He asked her, pressing a warm kiss to a random spot of skin after every sentence before he continued again. "That I love you? Is that what you need me to say, Emily? Because I'll say it until I run out of breath. I fucking love you."

Her stomach tied itself in knots and she couldn't stop the flush from coloring her cheeks as she wrapped her arms around his neck, kissing him back. She couldn't believe he'd finally said the words she'd been needing to hear for so long For awhile, she'd wondered if he just wanted her back because they'd been so familiar with one another back before the accident. She knew that none of his relationships with girls had worked out in the last couple years.

She knew that he was probably tired of being lonely, and it had always been a thought in the back of her mind that maybe, he thought she would be a convenient way to kill that loneliness. After all, Emily and Ronnie both knew that she had never been able to say no to him.

But hearing the way he'd said those words now...Hearing the conviction behind them, she knew that he meant it. He loved her, and she knew that he'd never leave her again. What they had now was permanent. What they had now would stand the test of time, and she knew that because she knew that neither one of them was willing to fuck up again.

Emily couldn't take it anymore. She kissed him, this time more passionately than before as she wrapped her arms around him.

"I want you," she whispered as she touched the side of his face. "Please?"

Ronnie chuckled, unable to stop himself from letting his hands wander down her sides. "You're sure?"

Emily nodded and Ronnie couldn't help but slide his hand in between her legs.

"I've wanted you again since our last time. No girl ever made me feel the way you make me feel," he whispered into her ear as he moved so that he was hovering above her.

Emily swallowed hard as he slipped first one, then two fingers inside of her. He touched the side of her face with his other hand before he started to move his fingers faster and harder inside of her, keeping his eyes on hers. Her eyes widened and she grunted his name out.

"Jesus Christ, Ronnie. I--"

She was cut of by the sound of her phone going off. An annoyed sound fell from her lips as she looked up at the nightstand her phone was laying on. She moved to kiss Ronnie again, not wanting to miss out on their time together. But instead of turning off, the phone just kept ringing for upwards of five minutes before Ronnie finally groaned.

"You should answer it, baby," he murmured as he handed her the phone. "It could be someone important."

Emily rolled her eyes and looked down at the screen. Her eyes widened when she saw her mother's phone number lighting up the screen. She pushed the hair out of her eyes and then looked at Ronnie.

"It's my Mom," she whispered.

Ronnie arched his eyebrow. He had a feeling he knew why Emily's mother was calling, but he didn't want to say a word to her about it in case he turned out to be wrong.

"Answer her, baby girl."

Emily swallowed hard and pushed the talk button on the phone before she bit down on her bottom lip as she pulled the phone to her ear.

"Mom?"

"Emily, w-where are you?" Her mother's frantic voice sounded on the other end of the line. "Are you at home?"

Emily swallowed hard and pulled her knees to her chest.

"Yes, I'm at home..."

Her mother let out a small sob and Emily could hear her father saying something in the background before Emily cleared her throat. "Mom, what's going on? Why are you calling me so late?"

"Emily, listen to me. You need to get to the hospital, the one closest to your brother's house. He...He...Maxie is..." Her mother tried to speak into the phone. She found herself incapable of saying the words.

"Mom," she whimpered. "Mom, what happened to Max?"

"Oh, Emily...He overdosed," her mother whispered into the phone, her voice so quiet that Emily could barely hear her. "He's alive, but the doctors aren't sure if he'll pull through the night. You need to get to the hospital."

Emily couldn't stop herself from letting out a sob as she dropped the phone onto the bed, her body and mind going numb. Max had overdosed? She couldn't think about anything except what her life would be like without her brother. He had been with her since they'd been children. He'd always had her back, even when she knew he didn't want to.

What would she do if he didn't have him there with her?

"Em?" Ronnie's voice called to her. She blinked and looked up at him, swallowing hard.

"Max is in the hospital," she whispered. "He...He overdosed. Ronnie, they don't think he's going o make it."

Emily couldn't stop the tears from falling out of her eyes as Ronnie pulled her to him, wrapping his arms around her. He stroked her back gently before he helped her move to her feet.

"It's okay, baby," Ronnie soothed her. "I'll take you to him, okay? I'll get you to your brother."

He didn't say another word to her as he started pulling on his clothes. Emily had no idea what the next twenty-four hours would be like, but she knew that she was absolutely terrified that she was going to lose her brother.
