“I’m Miranda.” She blushed.

“Beautiful name for a beautiful girl.” Miranda blushed as she heard Louis call her beautiful.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
All through out high school, she never had a boy friend. She was considered the nerd because her nose was always in a baking textbook. No boys ever paid attention to her and when they spoke to her, it was always “Where is your twin sister?” The girls would tease her because of her full lips and grey eyes. Always saying that her lips would hide her hideous face or that she should just disappear because no one could stand being in the same area as someone ugly like her. They also always wondered how Candace could even live with her. Of course Miranda never told her parents or sister this.
She thought that she could just ignore the harsh words being thrown her way but when the most popular girl in the school dumped her food on Miranda at lunch during her senior year, she couldn’t help but run to Candace and cry. That was when Candace, who was also popular, found out about all the bullying that Miranda had received the last three and a half years at their school. Candace then decided that both of them would test out of high school and try to forget about everything. Yes Candace was upset at the fact that she wouldn’t be able to walk across the stage but her sister meant everything to her.
“Are you sure you want to do this Candy? You talked about walking with your friends since the first day of school.” Miranda whispered to Candace as they walked behind the principle, following him into a room where they will be taking a test to graduate early. The principle walked to one end of the long brown table and picked up the supplies that were sitting there.
Candice thanked the principle as he handed her a pencil and sat down on one side of the table, “I’m sick of this place now that I know what happened to you. Let’s get this test over with so that we can get out of her.”
Miranda didn’t get the chance to reply because the principle announced that the timer was set and we had three hours to complete the test. As she worked on the test, Miranda couldn’t help but think that her sister was lying to her just to make her feel better. She didn’t let that thought bother her though. One thing for sure, she was very thankful to have a loving and caring sister like Candace.
Knowing that Candace would do anything for her made her want to make Candace proud. Ever since they little, they both wanted to open up their own bakery. Candace loved decorating, whether it was clothing, interior, or even decorating baked goods; she just wanted to get her hands moving.
Miranda on the other hand had a passion for baking and business. She loved baking anything, from cookies to cupcakes, cakes to pies. Anything you could think of, she could do it. She also loved learning about business. She loved learning different ways to make a business successful and what could make your business crumble. Miranda and Candace were the perfect team to have their own business and that’s what they planned on doing when they finished their test.
“Thank you Louis.” Miranda smiled as he walked back to his seat and finished his hot chocolate.
She looked at her watch, noticing that they had been in the shop for almost an hour and half. She walked over towards the window, peeking out the window she saw that it was still raining, pretty hard she might add. “It’s still raining pretty hard outside and there’s no cars on the road. I can hardly see the other side of the street.” Miranda stated as she stared out side. She heard a chair scrap across the floor and she turned her heard towards the person who stood up.
“I’m worried about calling and asking Paul to come get us. It’s to dangerous to drive in that weather.” Liam stated as he to looked out the small crack in the blinds.
“What do you think we should do Liam? We can’t stay here all night.” Louis proclaimed as he looked from the boys sitting down to Liam.
Liam sighed as he closed the blinds and walked back over towards his seat, “I don’t know Louis. I don’t know.”
Miranda watched as the five boys exchanged ideas on how to get home. None of them coming up with a good enough plan to get them from the shop back home which was a couple blocks south. Miranda instantly thought of an idea and took off towards the back of the kitchen where another closet was that she kept an emergency stash of a huge variety of things. When she opened the closet doors she instantly thanks the lord. There sitting in the closet was three king sized air matrasses, an air pump, huge stack of blankets and pillows, one for each of them, a generator and a portable heater. Miranda walked away from the closet door and back out into the front where three of the five boys had their heads down on their arms and two were talking quietly to each other as they looked out the window.
Louis sighed as he turned from the window, “I don’t know what to do Liam. I’m not going to call Paul to leave his small vacation at home to come and once again rescue our butts.”
Liam sighed as he ran his hands over his face, “I know but I don’t know what else to do. We have nine hours until morning, what are we supposed to do?”
Miranda chose this time to walk over to Louis and Liam and tell them about her emergency supply closet and that she had no problem with the boys staying with her in the shop until morning. Even though she just met them, she wasn’t about to send them out into the rain. “Guys.” Miranda spoke, as she got closer to the boys.
“I don’t know Liam. I know for a fact that I am not calling Eleanor to come and get us because if I did and something happened to her, I would never forgive myself.” Louis said.
Liam nodded his head, “I totally agree with you there. I’m defiantly not calling Danielle.”
Miranda watched in amusement as the two boys in front of her were still unaware of her presence. “Guys.” She tried again, this time a little louder. They still were unaware so she spoke louder, “Guys! Stop.” This got their attention, including the three other boys who had their heads down.
Louis smiled, “Hello love, We were just talking. Is everything okay?”
Miranda laughed when Louis said “love”. “Everything is fine. I just wanted to say that it’s okay if you all stay here tonight. Just looking at that storm and thinking about you guys walking home just kills me and I would never put you through that. I have enough king size air mattresses for us to sleep on. Yes we would have to double but we don’t have to if you guys are uncomfortable. I also have enough pillows and blankets, a generator and a portable heater incase the power goes out. “
Louis and Liam stared at Miranda like she was an angel from heaven. Not only did she help them out with the fans earlier but she is also letting them stay the night in her bakery. Even though they met not even two hours ago. “You are a lifesaver Miranda.” Liam stated as he hugged her. Louis wasn’t far behind and he embraced them, saying that he could not thank her enough.
“Do you guys have a plan on what to do?” They heard one of the other boys asked.
Liam smiled, “Miranda here has a supply closet that is full of emergency supplies. She has three king sized air mattresses, yes we do have to double but for us that’s not a problem. She also has enough pillows and blankets, a generator, and a portable heater.”
“Also,” Miranda chimed in “In my fridge I have product to make sandwiches, I have different types of beverages and I can pull out some more desserts for you guys. As for the bed situation, I don’t have a problem with sharing a bed.”
“Thank you Miranda. That truly means a lot to us!” Liam smiled as he hugged the girl one last time. “If it’s okay with you, we will get the beds out while you make the sandwiches?”
Miranda nodded her head, “Yes of course. The closet is in the back of the kitchen.” They nodded their heads and walked to the back of the store while Miranda stayed in the front. She was surprised that they hadn’t asked her as to why she would have all that stuff. When ever her family would go on day trips, her mother always made sure everyone had packed an over night bag incase something were to happen. Her mom had a crate full of toiletries, feminine products, flares, flashlights, and a emergency stash of cash. Her father had always thought it was funny but he understood her mother’s reasons. Just thinking about her mother and her crate reminded Miranda of her own similar crate. “There’s also a grey crate with about ten unopened tooth brushes and tooth paste.” She called out as she walked towards the walk in fridge so that she can start making everyone their sandwiches.
Just thinking about her deceased parents made her heart clench and a sudden sadness wash over her. She instantly shook her head and pushed the feelings aside. She was just pulling the bread off a rack when a cell phone started ringing.
“It’s not mine.” She heard a quite British accent speak out.
She laughed, “Sorry it’s mine. It’s probably my sister calling.” And she was right. It was Candace calling her, why now she wasn’t sure. She knew that Candace wouldn’t be home from her date this early.
“Hello?” She answered as she grabbed plates from the counter and opened the bread and pulling out six sets of bread, placing two each on the plates.
”Are you home?”
“No I’m still at the bakery. Where are you?” She asked as she pulled the mayonnaise towards her and opened the jar.
”I’m with Will. We were going to go out but it started storming really bad so we stayed in and made dinner here. Why are you still at the bakery?”
Miranda looked up and watch as the boys grabbed the stuff out of the closet, minus the generator, and walk out into the front of the bakery. Her eyes followed them and she saw that the boys had moved the tables, Stacking some on top of each other, to make more room for the beds. ”Miranda!”
Miranda flinched as her sister yelled into her ear, “Sorry Candace. I have a strange story to tell you. I had just closed one of the blinds when I noticed five boys being chased by a group of girls. I ran out side and instructed them to run inside to hide from the girls. They are apparently in a band! And by the amount of girls that were chasing them, they must be pretty popular. I just cant place a name to the band though.” Miranda admitted as she placed sliced meat on the sandwiches followed by lettuce.
”Miranda, this is going to be really weird but do one of those boys have blonde hair and an Irish accent?” Candace asked.
Miranda scrunched up her eyes brows and looked up just as the boy Candace was asked about walked towards the closet and picked up the crate. He looked over at Miranda and smiled at her before walking back out towards the rest of the boys. “Yes there is a blonde boy why?” Miranda asked, confusion laced in her voice.
”Miranda! You have One Direction in the bakery! They are one of the hottest boy bands in the world right now! Oh my god!” Candace screamed.
“One who?” Miranda asked clearly confused as she placed the top piece of bread on the lettuce.
She heard Candace sigh, ”One Direction is the British/Irish boy band that Simon Cowell had formed on the 2010 season of X Factor UK. The have one album called “Up All Night” and they just finished their first tour in America a few weeks ago.
“Oh.” Miranda whispered. She instantly felt dumb for not knowing who they were right off the bat. But then she remembered their expression when she answered that she didn’t know who they were earlier.
“Oh is right! Zayn is my favorite of the band! But any ways, how long have they been there and how long are you going to be there?”
Miranda looked up at the clock that was mounted above the door. It read that it was a quarter past ten. “I offered them to stay here tonight with me because the storm is picking up. I already told them about the emergency closet and they are putting everything together in the front. I’m making food for everyone.”
”Please be careful okay? Make sure all windows and doors are locked and that you have the security on okay?”
Miranda smiled, “I will Candace. Wait, Who’s Zayn?”
“I am.” She heard a voice behind her just as Candace was about to answer. Miranda turned around and saw a boy with tan skin and black hair standing behind her. He smiled at her, “I came in her to see if you need any help? We are finished, well almost. Louis and Harry are trying to figure out how to pump up the mattresses.”
“Who is that?” Miranda heard Candace ask.
“It’s Zayn. He was just telling me that they are almost finished and asked if I needed any help with the food.” She replied to Candace.
“Can I talk to him?” Candace asked Miranda.
“My sister wants to know if she could talk to you. Probably to ask you some questions but I promise she wont ask any personal questions. She just wants to make sure you wont kill me.” Miranda blushed as she said the last part.
Zayn laughed and nodded his head, “Sure.”
Miranda nodded her head and handed her cell phone over towards Zayn. He smiled once more as he took her phone and leaned against the prep table. Miranda walked around him and back into the fridge and grabbed six water bottles plus the bowl of fruit that Candace had made earlier. She walked back over towards the sandwiches as Zayn was saying bye and he handed her the phone.
“Your sister was calm and informed me to remind you to put the security on. She also said that she will see you in the morning at ten.” Zayn informed Miranda.
Miranda nodded her head and handed Zayn a ladle, “If you want you can spoon some fruit onto the plates and I will take out the water and fork.” Zayn nodded his head and started to do as he was asked.
“Food is almost ready. Zayn is putting some fruit on the plates and then I’ll start bringing them out.” Miranda informed the boys as she handed each of them the water bottles.
“Thank you.” Liam replied as he accepted the bottle of water.
Miranda smiled as she turned around and walked back to Zayn. Picking up three plates while he did the same and walking back out towards the rest of the boys. Miranda passed out three plates and taking one from Zayn’s arm while Zayn gave the last plate besides his own to a curly haired boy that Miranda had yet to meet.
Miranda took a seat next to Niall on one of the beds that was inflated and grabbed the water bottle that he handed to her. “Thanks.”
He smiled, “Thank you! For helping us out tonight.”
Miranda dismissed it and took a drink from her water bottle. Miranda was then introduced to Harry who she thought was just adorable. As the night grew on many laughs were shared, more sweets were eaten and number were exchanged. Miranda learned that Louis and Liam both had girlfriends and they promised her that they would get them together for a girl’s day. Harry offered to help her out in her bakery whenever he was available and Miranda learned about their band. They told her funny stories about their experience on their American tour and what they were doing for the next couple of months. They sang her parts of some of their songs; her favorite song was moments so far.
As the night grew on slowly, one by one the boys fell asleep. Harry and Zayn on one bed, Liam and Niall on the other. It was just Louis and Miranda who were up and they were sitting indian style on their bed. Even though Louis had a girlfriend who he loved very much or so he thought, he volunteered to share a bed with Miranda.
“Okay my turn.” Louis laughed. “What is your favorite color?”
Miranda moved her hands before Louis was able to slap them, “I don’t know. I don’t really have a favorite.”
Louis repeated her actions, “How do you not have a favorite color? Everyone does.”
Miranda smiled, “I just don’t. Weird huh?”
“Defiantly. Your turn!” Louis laughed as she slapped his hand.
“What’s it like being in a band?” She wondered.
Louis smiled a true genuine smile, “It’s wonderful. Just being able to create music, and travel the world with four of my best friends who have become my brothers is the greatest experience ever. Being able to perform every night and look out into the crowd is just. The feeling is indescribable.”
Miranda nodded her head, “That sounds fantastic.”
“What’s it like owning your own bakery?” He asked as he held her hand and traced a circle with his finger. He wasn’t even aware that he was doing this but she was fully aware.
Remembering his question, “It’s amazing. My sister and I have known since we were young that we wanted to own our own shop. She is into designing while I love baking. Just being able to make different types of desserts is an amazing feeling because I like hearing people tell me how good my baking is.”
Louis smiled as he listened to Miranda talk about how much she loved baking and owning a business with her sister. Even for only knowing the girl for a little over four hours, he felt like he has known her for eyes. He liked how her grey eyes shined with happiness and how her smile was so wide when she talking about baking. He even liked how some words that she said sounded liked she had an accent.
As the night grew on, and they both continued to talk, he knew in his heart that Miranda was going to make a huge impact in his life. Miranda and her sister, who he had yet to meet, were going to make a impact in the boys life. How huge, he was not for sure. Was he prepared for it?
