The Call that Changed Everything

--BRIAN'S POV--

I fidgeted my necklace around my neck which was a guitar pick attached to a string. This was a thing I did when I felt nervous, anxious or worried. I used to do this a lot before shows.

I just had this really weird feeling that something was going to happen. More specifically, something is going to Jay.

"You okay, bro?" asked Zacky as he watched me fiddle my necklace. "Yeah, fine." I answered. I buried my face in my hands. Every part of my body was telling me to call Jay, fins out where she is and see if she's okay. I guess one phone call wouldn't hurt.

I got up and walked to the kitchen and dialed her number. It went straight to voicemail. Where could she be? Or is she avoiding me? I tried again. Same results.

"WHAT!" I heard Jimmy shout. I popped my head out of the kitchen too see Jimmy on the phone. Could it be Jay? Did something happen to her?

Out of the blue, Jimmy sank down to his knees as a tear slipped out his eye. He looked shock, angry, sad and scared. He wasn't listening to the person at the other end of the phone. Matt took the phone out of Jimmy's hands and continued the conversation.

I squatted in front of Jimmy and said slowly, "Jim, what happened?" His uneven, shaky breaths were sharp and heavy. He was hyperventilating. "Jay!" he choked out.

Fuck... "What about her?" I asked again. "She had an accident on the road!" he said as if those words alone killed him.

The girls gasped and put their hands over their mouths. "Huntington General Hospital! Let's go!" Matt said as he passed Jimmy back his phone. We pulled Jimmy up and each got into our cars.

A pair of hands grabbed my arm and whined, "Do we really have to go..." she pouted her lips at me. I violently grabbed her arm and pushed her off me. I glared at her as she screamed, "That's it, Haner! It's over! For real!" she then walked away.

Val shouted, "Chelle!" but Michelle just kept on walking. Val slapped my arm and jogged back to Matt's car.

I led Jimmy to the shotgun seat of my car. He was in no condition for driving. His hands shook as he tried to open the door. I opened it for him and ran to the driver's seat.

I sped down he highway towards the hospital. We all ran to the registration desk and asked for Jay's room number.

"She's currently having an operation, and the doctors are doing their best. You won't be able to see her until the- do-" I cut her off. "Give me her DAMN room number!" She shrank back and looked through her file.

"Room 73 on the 4th floor..." she whimpered. We ran to elevator, but I ran all the way up through the stairs. It was way faster than the lift. I ran all the way down the corridor avoiding people and counting rooms. 30..40...50...60..70... I slowed down.

Room 73.

The door was closed but I could here the doctors shouting orders to the nurses. "JAY!" I shouted at the room. Maybe she can hear me.

The people staring at me probably thought I was mad. I sank to my knees in front of the door. I think I was crying. I heard the others rush up to the room. Jimmy sank next to me. He put his hand on my back.

"You loved her." he said softly. I didn't try to deny that. Because somewhere inside me, I knew it was true. I looked at Jimmy. His eyes were red and cheeks tear stained. Mine probably was too.

I just hoped Jay was okay. I prayed she would survive. I wished she's forgive me. I want her too.
I regret everything that I told her last week. I regret fighting. I just regret.
