I stood in front of the hospital room door again. My heartbeat picked up, the butterflies returned to my stomach, and my hands quivered slightly.

Every time…why do I get so nervous…?

“Come on, Vic! Pull yourself together!”

I placed my quivering hand on the doorknob and turned it, opening the door.
There he was, sitting in the chair, looking out the window.

“Hey Kellin…” He turned to look at me, then he smiled. I couldn’t help but smile back.

“The doctor said I should move around a bit so I won’t be completely stiff the whole time I’m here. Explains why I’m in the chair?” “Um…sure.”

I sat next to him and pulled out my iPod from my jacket pocket.

“Want to listen?” He shook his head.

“I want to hear you sing first.”

The blood rushed to my cheeks. “I’m not gonna get away with this am I?”

“Nope!” I sighed.

“Fine…just promise that you won’t laugh…” He nodded.

I took a deep breath to calm down and closed my eyes.

I opened my eyes, expecting the worst.

He was staring at me with pure awe and amazement on his face.

“Wow…That was just…amazing…I’m not even exaggerating…” I chewed on my lip nervously.
“You really liked it…?” “Of course! Did you write that song?” I nodded. He smiled.

“It’s really amazing.” I smiled a little. “Now it’s your turn, Kell.” His eyes went wide.

“B-but I…!” I shook my head. “You said you would.”

He poked out his bottom lip for his adorable pout . “Fine…”

With that, I found myself already captivated by his voice.

There was a moment of silence. I still tried to process the fact that I was sung to by an angel…

“…I told you I was horrible…” My jaw dropped. I held his hands in mine and looked him straight in the eyes.

“How can you DARE say that…?!” He brought his gaze to the floor. “Kellin, please look at me…”

His eyes slowly found mine again.

“You have an amazing, beautiful voice…hell, I pretty much lost myself in it for a moment…”
He bit down on his lip again. “I’m speaking the truth Kell…” “Really…?”

I squeezed his hands gently. “Of course…”

He smiled and hugged me, resting his head in the crook of my neck.

Holy damn…he’s hugging me…! My heart beat was out of control and both my brain and stomach felt fuzzy…
I wrapped my arms around him to hug him and he relaxed against me.

“Kellin…?” “Hm?” He shifted a little in my arms.

“I was w-wondering…if…”

Come on Vic! Pull yourself together and spit it out!

“This Saturday…I was wondering…if you’d like to come to the music store to hear me play…I-I mean…you don’t have to if you don’t want to…I just…”

I was cut off by his giggling.

“I’d love to go.”

And somehow, that lifted a small amount of weight from my shoulders.

With a huge smile on my face, we stayed like this. Kellin in my arms and me humming a small song to him until he fell asleep.
