Status: My first story and seems to be going better than I had expected. If you're a sucker for twists then hopefully you'll enjoy this story.

Sinister Eyes

Friends

I woke up the next morning to a bright light. The sun was touching my face with it's gentle warmness. The bruise on my cheek hadn't healed and was just worse today. Slowly getting up I stretched and looked in the mirror to see a shirtless teen with messy morning hair. Each troop got their own room however it was pretty small. Only small enough to fit a bed, bathroom, and wardrobe. The rest you had to try and make room for.

Walking over to the bathroom I took a quick five minute shower and got dressed in my casual clothes; black sweater with blue jeans. Heading back to the mirror I gazed at myself. The bruise was a dark purple and stung every time I touched it. They given us a day off today and Ally and me had decided to spend the day exploring.

Grabbing my room keys I slipped on my shoes and left, entering a long hall filled with dorms. All kinds of teens walked or ran by. I hadn't expect to see so many people crowding in a small space. The moment when I walk out is when things get awkward.

"It's that kid who got punched..."

"He's brave he stood up to Susan and Lawrence..."

"I think he's stupid for doing that..."

I just sighed and ignored it. 'Jeez what a nice day this is turning out to be,' thinking to myself as I walked towards Ally's room. After passing through a long hall and a few dorms to the left I came across her room. Slightly knocking on her door I waited.

"Who is it?"

"Rayson."

Hearing her run to the door she immediately opened it giving one of her goofy smiles. "Hey! Oh your bruise! It looks more worse!" Saying with concern as she touched it lightly with her left hand.

I just shrugged and entered her room. "It's okay it doesn't bother me. Just stings." Looking back to her she was wearing short blue shorts with a plain red T-shirt. She wore a red bracelet our friend Aidan had bought her.

"So where do you wanna go?"

Walking out from her room I thought for a moment. "Lets go to the cafeteria? I'm pretty hungry."

Walking to the cafeteria seemed like a mile away. Going through several halls and down an elevator took forever with tons of people always walking past you. As we finally made it outside I flinched at the scenery. The sky was bright and full, the grass around us was completely green and a soft touch of the wind gently embraced us. Ahead of us were several paths that led to different locations which ours would be: The Cafeteria.

Following a straight path we walked by a group of people who were arguing. We cocked our heads to the side to see what was going on.

"What's happening?" asked Ally.

I studied the group of people but just shrugged. "I don't know. Let's go check it out?" Getting closer to check out the scene.

"Back the hell off man!" Some guy had said with light brown hair and hazel eye's. He had a blue shirt with plain jeans. A girl behind him with black hair and pink streaked bangs looked a little scared. She had a black shirt with plain jeans and had hazel eye's as well.

"Chill man, shit! I just told her she looked fine." Another guy had said, shoving the brown haired one. He was tall and pretty muscular, short blond hair, blue eyes and lighted skin with a tint of a tan. A few other guys stood behind him, easily being recognized as his "gang".

"She told you not to say that!" He yelled once again, pushing him back. They both locked eye's with each other, fists already armed.

"Hey! All of you get away from each other!" A security guard yelled not to far from us.

Everybody slowly started to separate away from the group. Both guys glared at each other but decided to save it for another day. Turning around both the guy and the girl walked to the cafeteria.

"Lets go ask them if their okay." said Ally who didn't even wait for me to answer.

Following behind Ally we jogged towards them. They both turned around to see who was coming towards them. "Hey are you guys alright? That guy seemed like a total ass to you guys."

The brown haired guy nodded with his hazel eye's scanning us both. "Yeah we're fine. Though I kinda wish that guard wasn't there. I would love to pop him in his damn face."

"Who was that guy anyway? I haven't seen him." I asked.

"His name is Elrick. He thinks he's the shit just cause he won a lot of fights in the academy." Said the girl with black hair.

Both Ally and me raised eyebrows and couldn't help but raise a smile. "Wow so stupid."

Both of them nodded. "Oh we should introduce ourselves. My name is Syrus Widman and this is my sister Elaine Widman."

Elaine gave us a nice smile waving her hand.

"Rayson Noah."

"Ally Skyle."

We both returned a smile at them. After introducing ourselves we all headed for the cafeteria. I could hear my stomach screaming for food the closer we got. It was like about to burst the moment we got inside. Like anyone would want to see my guts splatter everywhere.

Finally entering inside we walked on over to the line and waited.

"So no doubt you guys were in the academy?" Asked Syrus.

I turned the other way and sneezed before answering. "Yeah. We were in group 19."

Both Syrus and Elaine gave us a shocked expression. Before they said anything we grabbed our plates and went to see what they were feeding us.

"Are you serious? So you guys are the one who had a comrade die?" Asked Elaine in a soft tone.

Ally and me exchanged looks. We didn't like to talk about that day. Syrus and Elaine both seen us give each other a look that made them feel awkward now that they asked.

"I mean if you don't want to talk about it that's totally fine with us."

I shook my head. "No it's alright. People are gonna ask us about it sooner or later." After we got our food; waffles and toast with orange juice, we went to a table and sat down.

"Remember that training mission we did to go and take a hostage?" I asked chewing on a piece of my waffle. "Well that day we went to an abandoned building and see if anyone would be there. At first our friend Aidan didn't want us to, since the other faction was rumored to be around as well."

"He suggested we go through the forest and just continue on but Rayson and me didn't listen." Said Ally continuing for me as I munched on my waffle.

Syrus and Elaine listened with wide ears as if they were being told a horror story. I couldn't help but smile at their expressions, slowly eating their food with cautious stares and such like Ally and me would do if we were at a horror movie.

"As soon as we entered the building there was a guy in there who immediately screamed as he saw us. Since he was from the other faction capturing him would seem easy. Well that's what we thought," saying while finishing the last bit of my food, "since the guy had a bomb on him."

Elaine gasped as Syrus eye's widen. I guess they hadn't expected that a guy would pull a bomb out from nowhere. Ally and me both rolled up our sleeves showing them burned marks and scars.

"After the explosion we were knocked out for a few seconds but we suffered from permanent burns and scars. The building had collapsed and though Ally and me were lucky enough to not get seriously injured, Aidan was crushed by the building. He was barely alive when we seen him." Quietly saying as Ally started at the ground.

"We tried to pull him out but we couldn't, we were only twelve and still little at the time. The weight was to much for us to lift. We could have kept trying but thats when Aidan said it was okay for us to go on before the building collapsed completely. We refused but he got angry at us, so in the end, we both left." Sadly saying with my head turned to the ground. "I just wish I got to know him better."

Ally nodded who looked at both Syrus and Elaine. They stared with sad eye's and wasn't sure what to say. "But that's okay. He still lives on in our memories." Saying with a small smile.

Elaine nodded putting her hand over Ally's. "Yes he does."

I looked to the clock to see the time. "So what do you guys want to do?"

"We were planning to go get a tattoo," replied Syrus, "wanna come?"

Ally and me exchanged looks once again. We never gotten tattoos before so we weren't all sure about it. We did hear everybody goes and gets tattoos that symbolizes but we never took the time to think about it.

"I'm down to get one." I finally said getting up.

Ally just looked at me took a moment to think. Finally she got up giving one of her smiles. "I'll get one to."

Both Syrus and Elaine smiled getting up from their seats.

"Alright good."

Making our way away from the cafeteria we followed the trail that was gonna lead to the tattoo shop. Coming across a small building a sign stood on the top that said "Get Inked". I couldn't help but raise an eyebrow at the thought that they would let us get tattoos. Entering inside we immediately noticed signs and pictures of tattoos everywhere. The shop was small but seemed like it had a nice atmosphere to it in it's own way.

"Who's going first?" One of the tattoo artists had said looking straight at us.

They all looked towards me smiling. Frowning I gave a sigh and looked at the guy. "How much?"

"All depends on what tattoo your getting."

I kept my frowning face. I didn't even think about what I was gonna get. I took a moment to think what would suit me. Now deciding I smiled. "A black cross with wings.

"Why that?" Asked a demanding Ally.

I just smiled as I walked on over to the chair. "I have my reasons."

"Where abouts do you want the tattoo."

It wasn't long till the tattoo artist was finished. Getting up I looked at the mirror to see a small black cross with wings etched into the right side of my neck. It still stung and it hurt but I was actually happy to get a tattoo.

"Looks good on you." Said Ally, getting closer to take a look.

Elaine and Syrus just smiled, getting a closer look as well. Though when I thought everything started off bad, it was starting to get better. Meeting two new friends who could be by my side. Though this was soon gonna be the end of my happiness.
