Throwing Stones at Glass Houses

Chapter 24

The air was bitter and brisk. The wind was whipping. I felt it hitting me in the face. I shivered as I trekked home. My phone rang. "Stella where the hell were you. I waited for you," Jack said. I coughed a couple of times, "Don't think I didn't see you getting everyone into the car Jack." I heard everyone in the background, "It's time for you to grow up Stella." I pulled the phone away from my head and started crying. "Stella get your ass back on the phone," I heard Jack say. I hung up on him. I was fed up. I called Zack twice. I needed him more than ever but he didn't answer me. I sat there not knowing where to go, what to do. I continued walking down the street and then stopped again. I opened my phone and scrolled through my contacts. I put my phone back in my pocket and headed for Zack's. I climbed up the steps of his house and stood there awkwardly. I knocked on the door. I heard some fiddling around and then a girl came to the door. "Is Zack home," I asked freezing. "Yeah. Stella is that you? It's me Samantha," she said. "Oh hey Sam," I said standing there awkwardly. "Come in, come in. He's upstairs," she said closing the door behind me. I walked up the steps to Zack's room. I knocked on his door. "Come in," he said. I walked into his room and he sat up looking at me. "I thought I made myself clear," he said standing up. "Zack I need someone right now and I know you didn't mean what you said," I was tearing up. "Well you're wrong. I meant every word of it," he said walking closer to me. "Vic and I are really in love Zack. Why can't you just be happy for me," I was almost crying by now. "Because you should be with me Stella, not him. How many times do I need to say it for you to understand I'm in love with you," he said moving closer to me. I bit my lip and looked down. Zack moved closer to me. He leaned down a bit and kissed me. I was surprised. I wasn't sure whether or not I should kiss him back or not. I did. I wrapped my arms on his neck and kissed him back roughly. I pulled away. "Zack this is wrong," I said walking away from him. "Stella," he ran after me as I ran for the front door. I turned around a looked at Zack. "Why do you keep doing this to me," I said starting to cry. Zack put his hands on my waist. "Please stop crying babe," he said hugging me. I only cried harder. "What is it that you want from me," I continued to sobbed. "Don't you understand Stella? I'm in love with you. No matter what happens I'm never gonna stop loving you," he said putting his hand on the side of my face. His lips moved closer to mine again and I slowly stopped crying until he kissed me again. "What about Vic," I said pulling away from him. "Screw him," Zack said kissing me again. I was overwhelmed. I was in love with Vic but in love with Zack also. "I can't do this Zack, I-I can't," I said pulling out of the kiss. Zack's hands were still pulling me closer to him. Zack was persistent on kissing me. I looked away from him. "Can you just bring me home," I asked crying into him. He rubbed my back. "Come on," he said opening the door. I got into the car with Zack. It was quiet the whole ride. Neither one of us spoke. There was the faint sound of music through the car. "He's going to hurt you," Zack said breaking the silence. I had nothing to say to that. I didn't want to start another fight with Zack. "Thanks," I said as Zack dropped me off at my house. "Yeah," he said driving away.
