Throwing Stones at Glass Houses

Chapter 5

I sat in the car coming back to my house. Jack tapped on the wheel with his thumbs. "Hey, would you wanna hang out with me and the guys," Jack asked me. "I don't know," I said looking at my stitches. "Well I'm going over to Zack's now," he said turning down Zack's block. I had only been to Zack's house once Sophomore year. I stayed inside the whole time watching the party from a window. I was forced to come. Jack told me Zack really wanted me there. So after much hesitation and consideration, I decided to go for a bit. ----We pulled up into Zack's driveway. "Jack," a boy from school called. Jack walked up the driveway and I stood on the side of the car with my back on the door. I looked over at the group of boys and easily recognized a couple of kids from school. I looked at the faces. Jack sat in between Rian and Zack. Next to Zack, from my left to right, was Kellin Bostwick, Jordan Witzigreuter, Cameron Hurley, and Christofer Ingle. Cameron looked over at Jack, "Who's the girl?" "Yeah Jack, she's pretty," Kellin said winking at me. I suddenly felt a bit awkward. I pulled out my phone and texted Jack:
"I'm gonna walk home... Maybe I'll come back later."
He looked up at me and texted back a quick okay, be safe, and I love you. I looked at him rolling my eyes and turned around walking down the driveway. "Wait Stella," Jack called back. I rolled my eyes and walked back not saying a word. I stood there staring at him. Jack took his sweatshirt off. "This should keep Mom off your case. Keep it on," he said handing it to me. "How did things go afterwards," Rian said trying not to let the others hear. He failed since they were all trying to listen. I bent down to show Rian my arms which then Zack insisted on seeing too. "As long as you're better now," Zack said smiling at me big. "Yeah, she's fine now," Jack said as I put the sweatshirt on. I turned again walking away feeling embarrassed. I pulled my hood over my head. "Stella," Jack called back. I turned around and gave him the what-the-hell-do-you-want look. "I love you sissy," he shouted. "Love you too stupid," I shouted back giving him an innocent smile. I continued walking down the street towards my block.
