You Are the Greatest Thing That Ever Happened to Me

Everything was going perfect, Stephen and I were sitting on the hood of the car watching the city lights, he wrapped his coat around me, he wrapped an arm around and we joked and talked about random things.
"Adelaide?" Stephen whispered, I could feel his breath on my skin and it's giving me the chills
"mhmm?"
"I need to tell you something important"
"What's that?"
"We're lea--" and before he could finish his sentence my phone cut him off, I looked at him for second and he nodded his head like he was saying "Go answer it" and so I did
"Hello?" I said
"Adelaide!! We need you, please" Sean said with a worried voice on the other line
"Wait, um what's happening there, Sean?" I asked sitting up straight and Stephen did as well
"It's Brayden. I'm sorry, I know this is too much to ask but he's been drinking all night and he's really drunk and he really wants to talk to you, Adelaide please, we really need you, he won't stop asking for you" Sean explained
"I don't know, Sean"
"Please, Adelaide. Please" he pleaded
"Fine" I sighed, this is the first time Sean pleaded and it really seems like they need me so I did what I had to do "Where are you?" I asked
"We're at my house, you remember where my house is right?"
"Yeah, we'll be there in twenty minutes" I said then I hung up and turned to Stephen
"What happened?" he asked
"We need to go to Sean's house, they need me, Brayden's losing his mind, is it okay with you?"
"Of course, just tell me the directions and I'll drive us there" he smiled
"Thanks Stephen" I said and I gave him a little peck on the cheeks and he grinned at me

We immediately ran to Sean's backyard the moment he answered the door
"Thank you so much for coming, Adelaide" Sean said
"It's cool, where is he"
"He's in the--" Sean said but Brayden cut him off by his screaming
"Adelaide!! I need to talk to her!!" I heard a drunk and crying Brayden shouting. I went to the backyard and I saw Brayden lying on the grass crying and the alcohol taking over his body
"Bray" I said as I sat down on the grass so I could see him closer, I miss saying 'Bray' that's what I call him when we were together and he would call me 'El'
"El?" he said s he looked closely at me, I never saw him drunk before, he never drank when we were together, I guess things changed when we broke up
"Bray, what are you doing? Why are you doing this?" I asked
"El, I need you, please give me a second chance, that's all I'm asking, we could start over and we could be happy again, like we used to" he cried
"Please don't cry, Brayden. Just please stop this"
"Why? Why won't you forgive me? Can't you see how sorry I am? I won prom king but I didn't accept the crown because you're not my queen. We go together like an umbrella and the rain, you're Jasmin and I'm Aladdin, You're Minnie and I'm Mickey, why can't there be an Adelaide and Brayden again?"
"I forgive you, Bray. I do" I smiled as I stroke his hair "But I don't love you anymore"
"What?" he asked sitting up straight then he stood up "Why" he cried
"I can't do that again"
"I won't hurt you again, I promise" he said and more tears fell from his eyes and tears were forming in mine too, shit this is making me cry.
"Brayden, please understand" I sniffed
"Adelaide please" he whimpered and he fell to his knees, he knelt in front of me and he held my hands and he said "Please Adelaide, please. I'm sorry for everything, I love you, El. I love you so much, Adelaide Summers" he cried
"I'm sorry, Brayden. I hope you understand" my voice shook as I spoke and I helped him to stand up then I let go of his hands, I hugged him and said "Let's be friends" then I walked to Stephen who was standing in near the sliding door
"Is it because of him?" Brayden, who was still standing there, asked
"What?"
"Is it because of this guy? You found someone new?" he clarified as he walked to us, I got a little nervous because he might punch Stephen since he was drunk
"Bray, just stop. He has nothing to do with it" I said
"No, it's okay. Are you guys together? Brayden asked calmly
"Uh" Stephen said and he looked at me "We're figuring it out, dude" Stephen continued and Brayden nodded
"Dude, let me tell you this" he said as he placed a hand on Stephen's shoulder "Don't hurt her, don't be a jerk like me because losing her is the worst thing ever, love her with your whole heart and always be there for her, I hope you guys are happy" Brayden smiled and walked away. I didn't expect Brayden would say that, I honestly thought he would punch Stephen and beat him up since he was drunk but he didn't, he gave him advice and wish us luck, it's really surprising.

"Hey, Thank you" Sean said as he hugged me
"Sure" I smiled
"I'm glad you fixed things" Sean laughed "He's been like that since you guys broke up"
"Well, everything's fine now" I smiled "Well, it's getting late, we better leave"
"Okay, Goodnight guys! drive safely"
"Will do" says Stephen
"Oh and Stephen. Follow Brayden's advice" Sean smiled and Stephen nodded

The drive to my house didn't take long, we were there in about 10 minutes
"Well, I'll see you... tomorrow?" I smiled
"Um, Y-yeah" he stuttered
"Is everything alright?"
"Yeah" he sighed
"Something's bothering you"
"No, nothing is, just bummed that this night had to end"
"Yeah. But I'll see you tomorrow right?" I asked and Stephen gave me a simple smile
"Goodnight, Adelaide. I had fun tonight" he grinned
"Same here, thanks for everything" I smiled "Bye" I said and before I could open the door I heard Stephen say "Oh I almost forgot something", I turned back to him and I was supposed to ask him what was that but before I could say a word his lips crashed into mine, he kissed me, we pulled away after seconds and he grinned at me "Goodnight, Adelaide. Sweet dreams"
