Prom
I woke up on the wrong side of the bed today and it's because my stupid alarm woke me up 30 minutes early and it pissed me off. I haven't seen my friends for two days and I'll be seeing them later since tonight will be be prom night. There's this thing about prom that makes my stomach feel weird, I feel so nervous when I think of it, maybe it's because for the first time, I'll be going to a school dance with another guy, I usually go with Brayden on school occasions and I guess I'm just nervous because he'll be there with another girl and I'll be there with Stephen and I'm afraid Brayden will act like a bastard and be rude around him, I don't want that. Stephen is a really nice guy and he doesn't deserve Brayden's shit. I haven't seen Stephen ever since that awkward night, I'm afraid my parents freaked him out and I guess it'll be a little bit awkward between the two of us since my parents told us "If you guys date each other in the future, always know that I approve and I support you" bla bla bla, it's not that I don't wanna go out with him, I do, I really do, it's just that my experience with Brayden and Stephen's experience with Tiffany are really traumatic for the both of us, we're afraid to date people because they might to the same thing again. So for now, we're just friends.
"Good morning honey! You're up early, it's only 8:30" Mom greeted
"Morning mom, my alarm clock's broken and it woke me up" I groaned as I kissed her cheek
"Well, don't worry. I cooked hotdogs, eggs and pancakes! Your favorite!" mom cheered
"Yum!! Thank mom!" I smiled. I feel a lot better
"You need to have a good day today because tonight is the night"
"mhmm, yeah" I said with my mouth full
"Chesca called awhile ago by the way, she asked if you want to go to school with them later and I told her you'd give her a call"
"Oh, okay, I'll call her after breakfast. Thanks mom!" I laughed

I called Chesca after I helped mom clean the kitchen
"Hey dude!" she screamed, it was deafening.
"Woah, what's with all the excitement, bro?" I laughed
"Well, I'm totally pumped up for tonight!"
"Ches, save some energy, girl. Chill!" I giggled
"I know I know, oh yeah, do you wanna hop in my car later? So we can go to prom together?" she asked
"Dude, you have a date. Why won't you use his car?"
"Well, who you going with? Does Stephen have a car?"
"I dunno. I'm okay, bro. Don't worry about me, spend the night with Kyle. I'll see you later at prom okay?"
"Okay, but if you need me just call me or Paige or Sierra okay?"
"Okay"
"Cool, see you later!" she cheered and I hung up.
Chesca's question made me curious as well, how will Stephen take me to prom? Don't
tell me dad's gonna drop us off because that would be super awkward. Ugh, I guess I have to wait. This prom's gonna be different from last year's prom. I know it.

I was looking at myself in the mirror and I kept on asking myself "Will this dress fit me?" then mom entered my room
"Honey! Why aren't you dressed yet?"
"Mom, Will this dress fit me?" I asked
"Don't be ridiculous, Adelaide. Of course it'll fit you!"
"Mom, I feel so, so ugly" I sighed
"Adelaide Summers, you do not degrade yourself like that! Tonight is your night! Be happy, be positive" mom scolded "Honey, your beautiful and I'm not just saying that because I'm your mom, I'm saying that because it's true. Now get dressed, your date will be here soon"
"Okay mom, thanks!" I smiled "Oh wait mom!"
"Yeah?" mom asked before she could exit my room and I hugged her and said "You're the best. I love you!"
"Love you too honey!"
My mom made me feel a lot better, I slipped on my black dress and applied make up. My hair was already done because mom and I visited her friend's salon and she did my hair and I love it because she made my hair all wavy and pretty. I put on some jewelry like the necklace my dad gave me and the earrings grandma gave me and the pretty bracelet that was given by mom. I put on my black high heels and I grabbed my purse. And I'm all set for prom, although I waited at my room, I wouldn't want my mom to take a lot of pictures of me, I'm kinda shy.
"Adelaide honey! Stephen is here!" mom called out, I took a deep breath and I went downstairs
"Hi" I waved as I went down the staircase, Stephen was just staring at me with a half opened mouth and it made me nervous. I stood in front of him and he didn't say a word, just his half opened mouth. He's wearing tux and it made him look extremely handsome, I could tell he brushed his hair because it's a bit in place although it's still messy. This is the very first time I saw Stephen in formal clothes and to tell you the truth it looks great on him, he took my breath away.
"Hey" Stephen finally said and I noticed he was holding a box "This is for you" he smiled as he placed the prettiest corsage ever on my wrist, it was a lot prettier than the corsage Brayden gave me last year.
"Ohmygosh, thanks Stephen. It's, it's really beautiful" I smiled
"Not as beautiful as you" he smiled and I smiled at him too, we were like standing there for three seconds, just staring at each other's eyes but my parents' voice interrupted our little moment
"Picture!!" dad shouted
"Uh, Hi dad!" I smiled and he gave me a hug
"You look so beautiful, Adelaide" dad smiled
"I know right? Adam, our little girls all grown up" mom sighed as she wrapped her hands around dad's arm
"I know. But we're still young, Taylor don't you forget that!" dad laughed and mom punched him playfully, wow my parents sure are best friends
"Okay, now.. Picture!!" mom laughed and Stephen looked at me awkwardly and he held my hand. Stephen and I posed and posed and posed, I think my parents took 30 snapshots of me and Stephen
"You kids look great together" mom smiled
"I agree" dad nodded "Well you kids better get going. Here you go" dad added and gave Stephen the keys to his car "Take care of my car and my beautiful daughter, Stephen. I trust you" dad smiled
"Yes sir" Stephen nodded and shook my dad's hand
"Goodbye kids! Have fun!" mom smiled and she hugged Stephen then me "You should be here by 1am okay, Adelaide?"
"Yes mom" I laughed "Bye dad!"
"Bye honey, have fun!" dad cheered
"You kids better get going" mom said
"Bye!" mom and dad said in unison.

"So" Stephen said as we were driving "You excited?"
"Well, duh! But can I just ask one question?"
"Yeah, what's that?"
"Do you know where my school is?" I giggled
"Of course I do! Your dad gave me a tour around Melbourne so I'm all good" he laughed
"Can't believe he allowed you to use his car"
"Well, your dad trusts me" He grinned
"Stephen James, you are one of a kind" I laughed
"You look beautiful by the way" he smiled and I blushed a little
"You look handsome" I smiled and he grinned at me. Ugh that beautiful grinn.
Stephen and I got to school at 6. We headed to the school gym where prom was being held
"Adelaide?" I heard someone call my name as we were lining up for the photo booth
"Uh hi, Sean" I waved, Sean is Brayden's best friend, Sean's a nice guy and we're still friends even though Brayden and I broke up
"I didn't expect you'd be here! Great to see you!" he smiled and he gave me a hug
"Haha, yeah well, it is Senior Prom" I smiled "Oh by the way, this is my friend Stephen, he's my date for tonight"
"Hey dude, welcome to our school" Sean greeted politely and shook Stephen's hand
"Thanks dude" he smiled
"Well, Brayden's there" Sean informed and he pointed at Brayden who was standing beside the punch bowl with his date, the head cheerleader. ugh
"Okay" I said coldly and Sean gave me a warm smile, he knows how fucked up I was when Brayden and broke up.
"Well, I better get going! See you later" he smiled "Nice meeting you, Stephen" he said then he left
"That's Brayden's best friend" I informed Stephen and he nodded. Stephen and I went inside the photo booth and we had our pictures taken, it's required in our school that you and your date should take a picture first before you enjoy prom. I know, it is bullshit.
Stephen and I walked around our huge gym, the place was packed with Seniors and a few Juniors and a lot of outsiders.
"Hi guys!" Chesca greeted as we bumped into her and Kyle "Kyle, this is Stephen. He's Adelaide's date"
"Hey dude!" Kyle smiled and the boys had their conversation while we had ours
"Ohmygod, did you see who Brayden's date is?" Chesca whispered
"Yeah! The fucking head cheerleader!" I laughed
"Can you believe that shit?" Paige, who appeared out of nowhere shouted and Sierra's with her
"Where the fuck did you guys come from?" Chesca laughed
"Oh, we were with our dates who are now with your dates" Sierra laughed and we looked at our dates talking to each other.
"Can't believe Brayden had the guts to ask you out. Who the fuck does he think he is?" Paige hissed
"Guys, don't worry about it. Brayden can fuck with her all night long while me and Stephen will laugh at these lovesick fools all night" I laughed "Now, let us go back with our dates shall we?" I said and they all agreed
"Their dates are nice dudes" Stephen smiled and held my hand "This place is packed" he laughed
"I know right?"
"So, do you wanna dance?" he asked and I said yes. Stephen is not a good dancer to be completely honest but he's super cute. Stephen and I danced and laughed all night, I know you should act all sweet around your date but Stephen and I acted normal around each other. But then a slow dance song played and everyone was dancing with their dates
"Uh, may I have this dance" he asked awkwardly
"Sure" I smiled. I don't even know that song but I just followed Stephen's feet and we moved to the rhythm
"Adelaide?" he whispered as we were dancing
"Yeah?"
"I'm having a good time tonight"
"Me too"
"But to be honest, this song's really shitty" he laughed
"Ohmygod, I know!" I agreed, well the song is really shitty, it made no sense. The lyrics were just "You're my love, my one and only love" and it's a super shitty song
"So, this maybe a bad idea for you but.. do you wanna go somewhere else?" he asked
"I'd love to!" I smiled. We couldn't stand another second of that shitty song so we took off already

Stephen drove to small hill and parked the car so we could see the beautiful city lights, the view was breath taking
"It's really pretty" I sighed
"But you're prettier" he smiled and held my hand "Since we haven't danced a proper slow dance yet. Adelaide, may I have this dance?"
"Why of course" I laughed, Stephen took out his iPod and played I Will Follow You Into The Dark by Death Cab For Cutie. Stephen held me close to him and he moved his feet to rhythm and I followed him. The song is my favorite Death Cab For Cutie song so it means a lot to me.
By the time the song ended Stephen looked in my eyes and said "Adelaide, I like you. A lot"
"I like you too" I smiled
"I mean, I like 'like' you. I'm not gonna say that I love you because I know it's not right but Adelaide, I really like you" he stuttered
"Sshh, I feel the same way" I whispered
"Yeah?" he whispered back and he leaned into me, our faces were like an inch apart
"mhmm" I smiled
"You look so beautiful" he whispered
"Thank you" I blushed
"May I kiss you" he asked and I nodded and then I felt his lips on crashing onto mine lightly, it was a weird feeling at first because the only person who kissed me was Brayden but Stephen's kiss was different. We pulled away after seven seconds, the kiss was not steamy or sexy or anything, it was just a small, simple kiss. And I liked it.
"Thank you for everything, Stephen" I smiled "This is the best night ever"
"This is the best night ever" he smiled and he kissed my forehead "I like you so much"
