The New Queen

Scam Cup 2013

Anna shook her arms and legs out and prepared for her first event of the American Cup.
The Russians HATED the american cup, for obvious reasons, BUT, the russians were invited and Anna wanted to go. Aliya decided to come too, to practice for Euros in a few months. Anna wanted to show the Am
erican's what they were in for at Worlds.
The Terrible Trio of commentors LOVED Anna at the Pac Rims the year before but now they were over her. Gabby Douglas and Jordyn Wieber were both competing and unlike Anna they were gold medalist.
So of course they turned against Anna and said she was just a first year senior who was unexperienced when it came to senior competition, but Anna was more then ready.
She was more ready then Gabby and Jordyn and Aliya since she trained all last year. She was ready to dominate.
...
Anna decided to make a gold medal statement. She wore this green leotard with gold deisgn and a gold hair schrunchie to the competition. She didn't want to be in the shadows of everyone anymore.
First event, vault. Gabby and Jordyn were doing doubles while Anna had an amanar. She stuck it cold. 15.820
Second event, bars. Anna was not that great on bars compared to Gabby. She only had a 6.7 start value which wasn't that high when you think about how low bars routines score. But she got a decent 15.105 to keep her in the lead.
Third event: beam. Anna's specialty was the all around but she could win a gold medal on beam and floor as long as she hit. She was also a very strong vaulter so she could win a bronze or silver there as well depending on if she upgraded. She had a 6.5 start value in the new code and received a 15.3 for her routine. Making her the only gymnast so far to score all in the 15's.
Last event: floor. The only thing that would keep Anna off the gold medal stand was a score lower than 12. Floor was her absolute favorite event. She got new floor music since Pac Rims which included a bit of Russian music. She loved her. She smiled through out the routine and just took it like a little show. She stepped out of bounds on her first pass but it didn't matter. On her last pass she landed a bit short but that didn't matter either. Her final score was a 15 flat.
She noticed after her last pass that she had some pain coming from her left knee. It wasn't anything major. Well not until she started walking. She felt little pain at first but as she walked to get off the podium it hurt more till the point where she was limping.
Grebenkin jumped onto the competition floor and picked her up bridal style. He carried her off the podium and gently put her down on a seat. "Where does he hurt?" he asked.
"My knee" she pointed to her left knee.
She looked up at the scoreboard and suddenly the pain in her knee no longer mattered. When she saw her score and the number '1' next to her name she felt like the happiest girl in the world. At only 15 years old.
...
They put a giant knee brace on Anna's knee that kept her from bending it. Aliya, who tied for third place with Jordyn had to help her onto the podium to get her medal. Anna was given the option to be wheeled out but she wanted to walk. She was strong.
She received her gold medal with pride. She'll forever go down in history as the 15 year old Russian who dominated the competition and won by almost two points.
Her journey has just begun.
