Well, Who's to Say You'll Have to Do it Alone?

The next morning i called Rian to meet me at the diner. I wanted to talk to him alone, plus i never see him without Jack or someone else with us. I got to the diner and he was waiting at a table, i sat across from him and he gave me a weird look.

"Hey" he said

"Hi" i said

"What going on. Is Caitlyn okay?. Why did i meet you here?" he asked

"Shes fine. I just wanna talk, im like stressed" i said

"Oh. Alright, whats going on?" he asked

"My neighbor Lauren that helps with Caitlyn occasionally is pissed at me" i said

"Why?" he asked

"She just doesnt wanna be around me. I slept with her the other night and now everythings all messed up" i said

"You did!?" he said

"Well...yeah...you slept over!, you didnt know?" said

"No, must have been sleeping. Either way. Damn" he said

"What do i do?" i asked

"Give her space dude. She'll eventually come around" he said

"True" i said

Later Rian, Meghan and Zack came over to hangout. The house was pretty uneventful without Caitlyn being here. Later at 12 there was a knock on the door, i opened it and it was Brook with Caitlyn.

"Hey" she said

"Hi" i said

"She was good. She had fun, got to spend time with her cousins" she said passing me Caitlyn and the diaper bag

"Glad to here it" i said and looked past her and saw a guy in her car

"What?" she asked

"Who's with you?" i asked

"My boyfriend Scott, wanna meet him?" she asked and i nodded, if this dude is gonna be around my daughter i wanna know who the hell he is. She motioned for him to come over and he came up to the door

"Hey" he said

"Scott, this is my ex Alex who happens to be Caitlyns father. Alex this is Scott" she said introducing us to eachother

"Hey, nice to meet you" he said

"Nice to meet you to. Great to see you moved on, i dont know how i feel about him being around my little girl. But what does it matter to you" i said

"Oh whatever, i heard about that girlfriend you've been hanging out with that Caitlyns been around. My brother and his friend saw you two at a club the other night all touchy feely. Dont be such a damn hypocrite Alex" she said

"How'd you hear about her?" i asked

"My dad" she said

"Whatever. Shes not my girlfriend, shes my neighbor who's just a friend. She happens to be the one that found Caitlyn, shes very sweet and loves Caitlyn to" i said

"Scott loves her" she said

"Mhm, whatever. Good luck with this one. Dont get her knocked up" i said to Scott

"Screw you Alex. I'll see you next weekend" she said and left and i slammed the door shut

"My goddaughter is home!. I missed you!" Jack said taking Caitlyn out of the carseat

"Walk?" i asked everyone and they nodded

We left with Caitlyn in her stroller. It was so nice out which cheered me up, i love this time of year. While we were walking Jack, Rian, and Zack walked ahead leaving me and Meghan with Caitlyn.

"So, question. If you dont mind" Meghan said

"Sure" i said

"I gotta ask. Whats it like to be a parent?" she asked

"You really wanna know?" i asked

"Yep" she said

"Its so hard, theres no way to be prepared for fatherhood. Shes such a handful and is always the main reason for my anxiety. But i love every second of it and i would not change the situation for the world, shes my everything" i said

"Aww thats sweet" she said

"Thanks" i said

"She really love you" she said looking at Caitlyn who was staring at me

"Yeah she does. I love her to" i said

"Ive heard the whole situation with your ex and its crazy. Who cares what her or her parents think, your a great father and you'll always be Caitlyns favorite. I mean you decided to take on being a father without a single thought, thats a real parent" she said

"Thanks" i said

"Your welcome. And remember, you've always got me and Rian" she said and i nodded

"Yeah" i said

"The whole thing with Brook is such a small thing, it'll all get easier" she said

"Mhmm. Damn you'd make a good therapist or something. Ever consider it?" i asked and she laughed

"Well speaking of therapist. I am taking psychology in school, i wanna be in the mental health field. I will definitely consider your thoughts" she said, i forgot she was trying to get a degree for a better job

"Good. You'd seriously be awesome" i said

"Thank you" she said

"Are you like hitting on my girlfriend?" Rian said looking over at us

"Nope" i said

"Good" he said and Caitlyn started crying

"Aww whats wrong?" i asked her

"Shes just moody" Jack said

"Just moody?. Is he right?" i said looking down and Caitlyn kicked her feet

"God shes to cute" Meghan said

"I know. I think Jack was wrong, i think shes got a dirty diaper" i said

"Oh god!" she said

"She pooped?" Jack said coming over

"Mhm" i said

"Good girl. Also, not it!" he said and went back to Zack and Rian
