What's the Point of Being in Love?

Seven;

It was the first day of tour.

We were in Salt Lake City, in the hotel room, getting ready to go down to the busses at the venue.

“How hot do you think it is?” I asked Emmie as I pulled my top over my head.

“Pretty hot,” she replied, looking out the window. “I see a shitload of people wearing shorts and shit…”

“Ugh.” We’ve been to Salt Lake City on tour before, during the summer, and it got pretty hot.

“I bet the bus has air conditioning,” she gave me a grin.

I couldn’t help but grin back at her. I was so exited we’d be on a bus this time, instead of a tiny cramped van.

“Oh, I bet.”

“Babe, you left your phone in the bathroom,” Darren said, coming from the bathroom.

“Thank god you found it!” Emmie grinned and took the phone from him.

Darren was a cute, 6 foot tall boy with green-ish gray eyes and long-ish brown hair. Emmie and him had been dating since freshman year of high school.

I plopped sunglasses over my head, smiling over at them, “You bastards ready to go?”

After we had our duffle bags over our shoulders and had our suitcases trailing on their wheels behind us, another duffle stacked on them (well, Emmie and I), we made our way to the elevator and downstairs, where we packed them into the back of the van and climbed in.

“Where the fuck is Brynn?” I groaned, noticing he was the one we were waiting on. We quickly handed our room keys to Ree to turn into the front desk.

“Grabbing all of his bags,” Erix replied.

I was pretty sure he had even more bags that Emmie and I.

“No, when he left he was still doing his hair,” Keyline countered, wrapped up in Erix’s arms. Key was a tiny girl with eyes the color of ice and hair just a little more brighter than that. They’d been dating for six months now, but in those six months they’d gotten gone through a lot involving personal things in Key’s life, and he’d always been there for her.

“Oh, right,” Erix nodded.

Ree got back before Brynn, holding a phone to her ear.

“-ass up!” she said, climbing into the driver’s seat. “And turn in the key yourself, okay? I already turned in all of ours.” She then hung up. “He said he’ll be down in a minute. He can’t find his hair brush…”

I couldn’t help but giggle.

We waited about three more minutes before finally Brynn came out with all his bags. He loaded them and then climbed in.

“You are such a girl,” I told him. He stuck out his tongue and leaned back in his seat.

Ree started up the van and pulled out of the parking lot.

The venue wasn’t that far away, so we got there quick.

The first thing I caught onto was how many busses there were. Heaps upon heaps of them.

We all climbed out of the van, which was parked in front of our bus, in a hole down a long line of vans. “Your set is at 5, at the Kevin Says Stage,” Ree explained as we opened the back and started pulling out the bags.

After so, she led us to the van, which I gaped at.

Even from the outside it was huge. It was white with black wavy stripes and tinted windows.

“This is the R J Express,” Ree explained as she dropped her bags outside and opened some side things where we were supposed to put our bags in. “But, I strongly suggest you name it. It makes you feel at home, so I hear. But we can think of that later.

“Also,” she picked up one of her suitcases and pushed it inside, “there’s a lot of closet space. But we can only fit so much back there, yeah? We can only fit one bag from each of us at a time. So I suggest we have bags that have a mix of pajamas and everyday clothes up there and have stuff like bathing suits and fancy shit down here.”

“Wait!” Emmie gasped. “I have them each coordinated in bags! One has pajamas, one has everyday clothes, and the other has the extra shit!”

“Only you would do that, Em,” Erix sighed.

“Hurry and mix up the pajamas and everyday clothes,” Ree giggled as Erix began to load his bags.

Emmie hurriedly dropped to the ground and mixed her clothes quickly. By the time her bags were zipped up, we had finished loading up our bags. She quickly fumbled to push them into the area, and Ree shut it quickly.

“Okay, got your shit?” Ree asked, making her way to the bus door. “Let’s go!” She then opened the door and climbed in, us trailing behind her.

The bus was even more amazing in the inside.

The lounge room had two brown leather seats across from each other, a flat screens and cabinets overhead of both. A little bit of counter was up against one. Then there was an ice bin and a counter across from it that had a coffee pot on it and a sink, with more cabinets overhead. I also saw a DVD and CD player. There was also a small microwave attached and cabinets under the counter, and a closet the size to fit a broom next to that. Across that and blank wall there was a small table with two one-person brown leather seats on either side of it. A little mini flat screen was attached to the wall over the table.

“There’s a Play Station!” Abner shouted excitedly.

“Keep moving, nerd,” Ree chuckled as she led us on. “There’s exactly 12 bunks…but only eight will be used. Unless, of course, Key and Darren decided to share with their significant other. By the way, to mention, sex with other members on the bus is sincerely frowned upon.”

I giggled when I saw Emmie and Key’s cheeks turn pink.

I then tore a bunk’s curtain open, peering inside. A little DVD player with a small screen hanging off was attached to the ceiling. There was perfect pillows lying at the head and neatly folded blankets at the other, which sat in front of a little mini-slider thing which I was guessing to hold personals. Condoms, perhaps. There were also three little pockets attached to the wall, which I thought would be perfect to put my phone in while I slept. A radio was also attached into it.

“Dude, there’s a TV in the bathroom!” Brynn shouted from his place in a doorway. We all moved to go see. There was.

Ree was in the back room, pushing her duffle in a little slidy mirror thing. I followed suit and looked around the back room.

The couch was also brown leather and wrapped around the three walls, the slidy mirror over the middle. A safe was in the wall at one end. At the other, there was a little counter with a flat screen over it and a DVD and CD thing under, a mini ice bin over.

“Ritzy,” Emmie said after she had her duffle in the cabinet as well.

“Yeah,” Ree laughed. “It’s on as big and luxurious as they usually are, either. But that’s cause you’re new to Warped.”

“You mean they get bigger?” Abner gaped.

Ree nodded, “And a lot more spacious, too.” She then clapped her hands after we were all settled. “Pick you’re bunks and we’re going out to meet the bands we hadn’t met yet.”

We all went back to the bunk area. I had decided on the one on the left, side closest to the back area, and in the middle. I quickly through in my pillow and blanket to deem it mine and grinned.

After we all picked our bunks, we climbed off the bus and made our way to the crowded areas.

“There’s our tent!” Emmie grinned, pointing to one that was in a long line of tents. “We have a tent.”

“I should probably get to my post, huh?” Oceanne asked. “Start setting shit up?”

“Yeah, I’ll help,” Ree said. “And guys – gates open at 11, so if you wanna meet people hurry.”

“There’s a Trojan Condoms tent,” Brynn wiggled his eyebrows.

“Oh, let’s go find the We The Kings tent!” Emmie started dragging Darren away. “I’d always wanted to meet Travis Clark…”

“You wanna meet Versaemerge with me?” Key asked Erix as she pulled him away.

“Cam!” I grinned when I saw the singer by his tent.

“Oh, hey Cayne!” Cameron smiled back at me and waved me over.

“See you guys later?” I turned to Abner and Brynn.

“Yeah, we’re probably going to go try to find the We Are The In Crowd tent,” Brynn said. “The singer is bangin’.” I rolled my eyes and snorted.

“Okay, catch ya later.” I turned away and walked over to Cam, giving him a quick hug. He leaned down and pressed his lips to mine. I blushed when I remembered Emmie and I’s previous conversation about him.

“Hey,” he gave me that brilliant smile of his. I pulled away and plopped down on a lawn chair behind the table.

“Hey guys,” I gave a cheesy grin to the other members and their merch person, Michael.

“Haven’t seen you in a while, Cayne,” Wes chuckled.

“You can never get rid of me, Wes,” I retorted.

“Guess not,” he shrugged. I couldn’t help but laugh.

Soon after Cameron had finished helping Michael set up the merch, he plopped down in the lawn chair next to me and took a sip of water.

“It’s so hot out and it’s so early,” I groaned, pushing my sunglasses up off my eyes and to the top of my head, which pushed my hair up with it.

“Tell me about it,” David groaned.

After small talk, I noticed people starting to walk down the line of tents.

“Fans!” I grinned, standing up.

“You have to remember this isn’t your tent, Cayne,” Kyle joked, nudging me as he stood up as well.

“I know, but I want to help Michael sell,” I gave him cute pout.

“She likes to work,” Cameron informed him.

“Weeeeird,” Kyle rolled his eyes as some girls walked up to the tent.

For a while the guys signed autographs as I helped Michael sell.

“Hey!” a girl said at one point. “You’re Cayne Wright, from Friday With Two Meanings!”

“That’s me!” I beamed at her.

“Can I have your autograph?” I couldn’t help but smile as my heart warmed, and nodded. I signed her sweater, which she had told me that she got specifically for bands at Warped to sign, which she did every year.

“I guess I should be getting to my tent to sign shit, too,” I sighed, wrapping my arms around Cameron’s shoulders and giving him a quick peck on the lips. He then sighed as he placed his hands on my hips. “I know, I know. I’ll see you later, though. Are you coming to my set?”

“’Course, babe,” he replied, as he kissed me quickly again. “See you soon.”

“Mhm,” I mumbled against his lips as I kissed him quickly again and turned around, sauntering off to my tent.
