Draco Malfoy's Dirty Little Secret
Chapter 17
I opened my eyes to see the faint light of the sun on the horizon. I smiled and shook the beautifully sleeping man on my legs. He sat up and pulled me close. It was freezing out there, but we didn’t want to move. We watched the sun rise in each other’s arms. I felt the warmest that I had ever felt. It was right. Draco and I were right for each other. We were perfect for each other.
“Draco,” I whispered, wanting to tell him what I was feeling, but he shook his head and continued to watch the sunrise.
“Hey,” he finally said something after a little while. “What do you say that we blow off our classes today and have some fun?”
I looked at him in shock. “Draco, are you serious?”
He nodded. “Serious as a heart attack,” he laughed. “We could sneak down to Hogsmeade or whatever. I just want a whole day where I don’t have to worry or go to class or have anything else to do. Courtney,” he looked at me seriously, “I need you to go with me. I can’t have any fun without you. Please?”
I rolled my eyes but with a smile on my face. “I don’t know…”
“Please?” he pouted, pulling the puppy dog eyes, which always got me to do almost whatever her wanted.
I sighed. “I have to change first.”
“You look fine to me,” he shrugged.
“I wore this outfit yesterday and all last night. It’s gross to wear the same outfit for more than one day, you silly boy,” I poked him in the arm before walking out of the astronomy tower and started down the steps, which he chased me down.
He caught me at the end, and I shrieked happily. He placed a finger on my lips and looked around the corner. I smirked under the tip of his finger. His grey eyes then found me before he made a huge show of tip toeing from our hiding spot. I followed him, trying not to giggle. I pressed myself against him when I met him at the end of the hallway. He turned and put his hands on my waist. I looked up in those mesmerizing eyes. He leaned in, and I ducked from his kiss and ran down the vacant hallway. Looking over my shoulder, I couldn’t help but let out a rather loud giggle as I noticed him following me. I continued to run past closed classrooms and down the stairs in the direction of the Gryffindor common room. I gave the fat lady the password and left Draco to wait for me outside without a single word to him. I put on different jeans, a purple sweater, a pink scarf, my snow boots, and my winter jacket. I grabbed a hair tie and ran my fingers through my straight, blonde hair before running back down. I can tell you that that was probably the fastest that I had ever gotten ready in my entire life.
“I thought for sure you had left me to face the day alone,” Draco smirked as I walked over to him.
“Well,” I bit my lip, “what kind of friend would I be if I left poor little you to defend for yourself?”
He pulled me to against him with just one arm and pressed his forehead against mine. “I don’t want to be friends with you, Courtney. Never have, never will.”
I could barely breathe, but I had to concentrate and say something back. “Well, shouldn’t we get going before we get caught?” I suggested and wiggled my way out of his grip and turned my back on him before heading to the stairs. I noticed that he hadn’t been following me, and I looked over my shoulder at him watching me walk away. “Are you coming, slow poke?”
He caught up with me fairly easily, and when he did, he intertwined his fingers in mine with the slightest gesture. I couldn’t help but smile at him when he did so. He wasn’t looking at me but rather where we were going. My heart swelled at the small gesture. I looked around and saw no one. How where we that lucky? I guess it was fate.
“So, where to?” he asked as we reached the entrance hall.
He opened the door for me without letting go of my hand. I shrugged as he looked at me for the answer. I honestly didn’t care where we went as long as I was with him. I know it sounds cheesy and over used, but I really just wanted to be with him. I know he told me that he didn’t want anyone to find out about us, but I just couldn’t help it. I was really falling hard for him, and who knows? Maybe I had already fallen for him all those years ago and never even realized it.
“Down to Hogsmeade then? We’ll have to keep a low profile, but it won’t be that hard,” he turned and smiled down at me. Smiled instead of smirked. I felt like the luckiest girl in the world.
“You’ve done this before? Sneaked down to Hogsmeade, I mean.”
He nodded. “Loads of times, but never with a girl.”
Was that supposed to make me feel special? Well, no matter what the effect, it made me feel special. I felt special to just to be next to him. I mean, after doing what I did to him, I’m surprised that he even wants to be near me. I mean, I asked to leave him. I asked to be in a different house than him. Isn’t that enough not to be near me?
“You’re it!” he yelled before letting go of my hand and taking off down the hill.
“I’ll get you yet!” I yelled as I started to chase him.
I ended up tripping over my own feet as I chased after him and rolled the rest of the way down the hill. Draco come over and looked down at me when I came to a stop at the end of the hill. He was laughing fairly hard, but at least he was being a gentleman. He helped me up and brushed the show off me. I started to slap his hands away when it had gotten too carried away when I heard violin music. We both looked over in the direction it was coming from. Madam Padifoot’s café had enchanted violins playing for their customers. I smiled at how some of those customers where dancing together. It was so sweet to watch.
“You remember when we used to dance together?” I asked him as I turned towards him. “When we were little, we used to dance together all the time.”
“I know. It was always after we got married,” he smiled and bowed to me. “Will you, Courtney, take me as your husband to take care of you and make you have babies?”
I nodded. “I will, and will you, Draco, take me as your wife to love you and tell you what to do?”
“I do,” his smiled broadened. “Now,” he said, pulling me to him, “I will dance with you until we have six children, a huge house, and a golden retriever.”
I laughed as he twirled me around. Dancing with him as we did as children made me realize that this could actually be true one day. He could be the one. I knew for sure that I was falling in love with him. He made me do so every time that we were together. He made me laugh and smile. He made me feel like I was beautiful. He knew things about me that no one else knew. As I looked into his eyes as our waltzing started to slow, I knew that he felt the same. If his kiss was any indication after that, I was definitely sure that he felt the same. It made me think that we could be made for this. You know, for the whole long run. I mean, we were perfect for each other, right? His fingers fit perfectly in mine. His lips moved in perfect timing with mine. We were one and the same, especially right there in that moment.
“I’m going to take you away,” Draco whispered against my lips. “At the end of the school year, I’m going to take you away with me. I’m going to leave. I can’t stand to be around this hell that we call London. It’ll just be you and me. We’re one and the same, you and me, Courtney. Your heart is exactly like mine, and I don’t have a single doubt that we’re going to be together for the rest of our lives.”
I nodded. “I’ll go with you.”
In that moment, I didn’t have to know if we’d make it. I didn’t even have to worry about it because I knew that he was telling the truth. I should’ve held on to that day more than I did. If I would’ve waited, I could’ve had exactly what I wanted. I could’ve had Draco, but I was too hasty and believed in a promise that was made too early.
“I’m in love with you, Courtney,” he whispered, still against my lips. “I always have and always will.”
“Draco,” I whispered, wanting to tell him what I was feeling, but he shook his head and continued to watch the sunrise.
